Four Real Madrid players have been arrested after players allegedly 'filmed sex tape of underage girl and shared it on a WhatsApp group without consent'.

This makes sense. I was not totally convinced Shalrie was fired from the Revs. Sounds like Richie Williams has made a lot of friends in his day.....

Shalrie Joseph told me that he asked out of his contract the moment that Bruce Arena resigned from the New England Revolution. He knew his days were numbered because of his history with Richie Williams.

This might be the worst thing I've ever read. Just when you think you've seen every hot take, it's a case of "but wait, there's more!"

I enjoy a good Xavi over Zidane take, but Angel Di Maria as the 17th best player of all-time is a whole vibe.
Wayne Rooney not on the list....

De Bruyne and VVD over Scholes and Lampard?!
:goodposting:

How is Diego Forlan on this list?

He was one of my favorite young players. What a complete disaster this continues to be for him

Jadon Sancho is no longer training with the Manchester United first-team as the club look to resolve what they refer to as "a squad discipline issue".

His move from the start was a disaster. 3 years of chasing and overpaying badly. ETH has to regain control from the players. Has to get out those that are happy getting overpaid to do nothing.
United has to back him no matter what the player cost them to buy. Mistakes of the past can not allow more to be made in the future.

United are such a mess right now. Brighton are absolutely going to run roughshod over them this Saturday. It's funny because if the Garnacho goal was good, and United held vs Arsenal, they'd be sitting decently, just 3 points off the lead and in a tie for fourth.
But after this weekend, I have a feeling they'll be 9 off the pace just 5 games in and bottom half of the table.
Brighton play a very attractive brand of soccer and this one gives me the same feeling as when Brentford destroyed them 4-0 last year.
But, perhaps I'm wrong. In the Japan/Germany game last week there were not 1 but 2 Brighton players in the game, so maybe they'll be worn out from international duty :oldunsure:
Honestly the Garnacho goal is less upsetting than not getting the PK for the blatant foul on Hojlund. As much as I hate VAR's usage in regards to offside, it's usually correct. But they didn't even look at the PK. Makes no sense.

Tomorrow will be a test. They are at home against a good team. Must win and then kick on from there.

Man, it's going to be tough to top that Bayern/Leverkusen game that just ended 2-2. Kane and Wirtz both missed absolute sitters (blind save and a post) and BM had a game winner at the death called offside. Just tons of chances and great play. Leverkusen are a joy to watch.

Messi did not travel with Miami to Atlanta. He was subbed out of Argentina's first game this window (which is very rare and then did not dress for the second Argentina game). Not sure if hurt or if this is precautionary as he supposedly trained the last two days with Miami.

It would suck for the fans in Atlanta who hoped to see him. Sounds like they are expecting over 70k

I'm sure I've mentioned this here before, but if not, the only time I saw Messi play live was at the Camp Nou in 2014ish, and he played the full 90 along with Neymar and Suarez. Barca did not score

Last I saw Messi play in the Camp Nou he did this.

Messi doesn't like to play on turf.

Don't remember now which thread it was in, but thought this was interesting re: an earlier discussion about MLS...

Houston knew they wanted a winger-striker hybrid who could inject some pace into their attack and stretch opposing back lines. That’s a common profile that could have sent the search in any number of directions, but src ftbl had done enough preliminary league-style analysis to have some idea of where they might want to look.

“A lot of people think MLS is a very physical and athletic league. We have evidence that it’s not that physical or athletic compared to a lot of leagues in Europe. There’s a lot of space in MLS games,” Ramineni said. “So we’re trying to understand the intrinsic qualities of the league, what type of football, things like time and space.”
This is the first thing I notice on virtually every MLS highlight I see -- there's often no one around the ball defensively. Players have a lot of time.

I almost feel bad for the sucker who paid me $1,600 for my tickets. Almost.

Messi doesn't like to play on turf.

This is likely true although it goes against what Messi himself said.

“The truth is my youth was spent on artificial turf, my whole life was on that pitch,” he said. “Truth is it’s been a while since I’ve played on artificial turf, but I have no problem adapting myself again.”

My guess is that the Rogers injury has every one a little freaked out and they probably decided it was for the best. It will be interesting to see if he skips every turf game from here on in.

So United coming off a brutal home loss vs. Brighton, team in complete disarray, one injury after another, Sancho not even training with first team, and now they get a midweek fixture at Bayern Munich.
I actually think this is not a half bad spot for them :oldunsure:
Think Kimmich picked up a knock over the weekend so that would be a loss if he can't play. BM love to control the ball, attack on the wings and then well, they have this English striker who is pretty prolific. But, United seem to be more dangerous when other teams come at them and they can get the ball on the counter. Fernandes is at his most dangerous when he's running up field and has the likes of Rashford and Hojlund to pick out on runs. Erickson is more a mf who picks apart teams when they're bouncing the ball around in possesion. Casemiro should be able to sort out defensive mf and get the ball into attack quickly as BM relies on guys like Goretzka and Muller and well, Casemiro can contain them (I don't think they'll be able to expose his lack of pace).
Yeah, Gnabry and Sane are going to be always dangerous and I fully expect Reguillon and Dalot to pickup cards (I'll be betting on it).
But I think United will score in this game and be in it. I'm saying 2-2 game here which wouldn't be terrible at all.

I know a few people have attended EPL games over in England, what site did you use to purchase tickets? My son and his girlfriend plan to go to a game at the end of october but don't want to get ripped off by a BS website. I figured I'd ask the experts in here....

they are still trying to decide but the Manchester derby is that weekend at old trafford so they were thinking about splurging and trying to go to that.

They deciding where they gonna go after they choose a game, or they are going to be in Manchester already?

Just bear in mind that a club like United sells the vast majority of their tickets to season ticket holders, anything remaining (including STHs returning for the game in question, if that is even an option for them) will go to members only. You could likely get hospitality, depends how much they want to splurge really.

Also bear in mind that the resale of tickets above face value over here is illegal, we do NOT operate an anything goes market like you have for the NFL etc. You can quite easily both be ripped off and not end up with a valid ticket at the same time

Yeah they know it's a long shot but I also told them to check out liverpool at anfield road that weekend.

They are going to be up in that region of England for that weekend.

It's mainly a question of if they want to see a game at some level, or if they want some sort of bucket list experience. The latter will obviously cost $$$ but if the objective is just to see a soccer match then that's a different question entirely, although both Manchester clubs playing each other limits options at a real high level (and just down the M62, getting tickets for Liverpool is even harder)

Without a goal in over 700 minutes, RB Leipzig head coach Marco Rose wants to see more desire from former Chelsea striker Timo Werner (27). (Bild)

ground breaking stuff here

getting tickets for Liverpool is even harder
It's almost impossible unless you win the lottery or buy a package through the team. As far as I can tell there's almost no secondary market at all?

Its always been confusing to me because locals typically say there's no way to get tickets in the secondary market, you'll surely be cheated, etc., but then I hear lots of stories like when my neighbor took a spring break trip to England last April and his wife, who doesn't know a thing about sports and probably just searched "Manchester United tickets" on Google a week or so before they left, got them great seats at 3 big PL games. I asked her how she did it, what site she used, etc. and she had no idea - just bought them and everything was great. She might have gone the hospitality route I guess because they are pretty well-off financially.

My only experience is in 2001 when I saw a game at Stamford Bridge - got hooked up through our hotel concierge just by asking.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but Germany named Nagelsmann to replace Flick as coach of the national team.
Evidently Klopp turned the job down.

San Diego will announce their name and colors for their MLS expansion side on Oct 20th.

They already have a web site named SanDiegoFC.com but that may just be a place holder.

Random observation, of no interest to most of you, but...

Curtis Jones is 22 and is a nailed on starter now for Liverpool. Man of the match in the U-21 semis and finals, as England won the tourney over the summer. Started 14/17 matches in Liverpool's current EPL unbeaten run -- missing three games only due to injury. 100 appearances already.

He reminds me a lot of Gini Wijnaldum -- great in small spaces and under pressure, stout and physical, moves the ball along nicely and can score. Not as sexy as a big signing, but he's been great and as he grows into his peak years I think he's going to be a force.

And Szoboszlai has been flat out amazing.

Not sure who the third starter will be in time. I expect the team still needs to sign a true #6 and then you'd have something like:

Szobo + Gravenberch - forward foot 8s
Jones + MacAllister - two way 8s
??? + Endo - 6s

Elliott is more of a luxury player, kind of a wide 10. And any minutes they get from Thiago are gravy.

So the team is a little unbalanced right now, which makes it hard to clamp down and control games. And they're compensating by scoring 3 a match. Which isn't really the blueprint IMO.

You are totally right - not interested.
