Oh Brad.

Take that howler of the year and "nice wall guys" away and that was Villas game to lose IMO played better most of the game, but consistently lacked the final touch. Jumping in the Grealish bandwagon.

As the season winds down, villa and mu seem to have figured something out and are playing very good team soccer, imo, better thany other teams in the league.

But wow .. brad.

As the year

Cesc booked for a dive in the box, even though there was contact. This ref has made some odd decisions...

that one was tricky- there was a little contact, but wow did Cesc try to sell it. the card and no-call didn't bother me.

Ozil... way more invovled today, which I've wante to see from him all season/career. But wow does he lose the ball a ton. so slow- languid- with it. almost disinterested. definitely not interesting in putting in the work to defend- talk about the relegation games with guys laying their lives and every ounce of desire and effort out on the field... Ozil looks like he just doesn't give a#### and can't be bothered.

Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson could be loaned to Montreal

No one is talking officially but soccer sources reported on Sunday that Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson could briefly be loaned to Major League Soccer rival Montreal this week.

The loan would be for the Impact’s second leg of a two-game CONCACAF Champions League title series against Club America and would briefly reunite the Fire keeper with his former coach, Frank Klopas.

“There’s nothing that I can confirm,” a Fire spokesman said Sunday. Attempts to reach Montreal officials were not successful.

The web site goal.com reported the potential move on Twitter on Sunday, adding that Seattle’s Stefan Frei and New York City FC’s Josh Saunders were also under consideration.

Impact starting goalkeeper Evan Bush is not available due to a yellow card accumulation. He was issued a card in last week’s series opening-round game in Mexico City, a 1-1 tie. The Impact said last week said they would appeal but no decision had been announced as of Sunday.

Sources suggested that nothing in CONCACAF’s rules prohibit a loan. A temporary transaction might also involve some kind of compensation from Montreal.

Johnson could presumably be back with the Fire in time for their MLS game at Kansas City this Sunday.

Sadly this looks like it won't break any CONCACAF rules. They should just stick to the NASL keeper. I know they are down 3 keepers but this is just too weird.

If it was a longer term loan I would be fine with it, as many on twitter have pointed out that some Liga MX teams fortified their teams when they ran into a similar circumstance in the Copa Libertadores. The ultra short term loan is bogus IMO if it happens.

Looks like the Johnson loan may not happen though according to this recent tweet

Jeff Crandall @jefecrandall

I'm now told by a #cf97 source that Sean Johnson loan to #IMFC is "not likely to happen". #SCCL

The Daily Mail in England has detailed the more than 17 billion pounds Qatar spent to buy the WC.

Good lord. :( http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3055550/Qatar-paid-17-17billion-host-2022-World-Cup-finals-new-research-shows-money-went.html
I'm not too familiar with publications across the pond...how legit is "The Daily Mail?"
From what I know they focus on "sensational" type stories. I think the NY Post is a good example of what they are like.

You don't often associate history with club soccer in the US so that was a pretty good piece Fox put together showing the 40 year history of the Timbers and Sounders playing each other.

@AlexiLalas: So @MLS now informing us all that there’s a “0% chance” of Sean Johnson being loaned to MTL. #CCL
Ok this makes much more sense now.

Rob Stone

@RobStoneONFOX

Via Frank Klopas, @impactmontreal seeking trade or long term loan of a GK ahead of #CCLfinal . They have 1 spot available on 30 man roster.

The Mail article cites work by investigative reporters Heidi Blake and Jonathan Calvert. They are from the Sunday Times. Their findings are going to be published in a book.

And some of that 17b was in the form of legit trade deals, but obviously a lot of it wasn't.

Wasn't the yellow on Bush basically a bunch of MLS-in-Mexico CONCACAF-style junk? If so I actually have NO problem with MLS bending every rule to get one back.

The call was classic Concacaf reffing in Mexico as was the picture perfect defintion of a red card that the ref blew as a yellow in the first half that benefitted Club America.

That being said I hope they just do a trade or long term loan. I know they are in a rare spot down three keepers but I still would rather see Montreal solve it a more traditional way.

Deutscher Meister!
Aren't you just slightly embarassed by your league?
Why on Earth should I be? Because Bayern won the title again? Because Bayern clinched the title with 4 matches to go?

Let's look at 4 leagues and compare the last decade:

Bundesliga - 4 different clubs have been champions - Bayern (6), Dortmund (2), Stuttgart and Wolfsburg

La Liga - 3 different clubs have been champions - Barcelona (6), Real Madrid (3), Atletico Madrid

Serie A - 3 different clubs have been champions - Inter (5), Juventus (4), Milan

EPL - 3 different clubs have been champions - Manchester United (5), Chelsea (3), Manchester City (2)

4 v 3 v 3 v 3

How about the top three finishers:

Bundesliga - 8 different clubs have been in the top 3 - Bayern, Dortmund, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg, Schalke, Bremen, Leverkusen, Hamburg

La Liga - 6 different clubs have been in the top 3 - Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Villareal, Sevilla, Valencia

Sere A - 7 different clubs have been in the top 3 - Inter, Juvenus, Milan, Roma, Napoli, Lazio, Udinese

EPL - 5 different clubs have been in the top 3 - Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool

8 v 6 v 7 v 5

Bayern clinched the title by being 15 points up with 4 matches to go.

With 5 matches to go, Barcelona or Real Madrid will win La Liga, with Atletico having a slim outside chance.

with 6 matches to go, Juventus has a 14 point lead and could clinch with their next match.

With 5 matches to go, Chelsea has a 10 point lead and could clich with their next match

So, no I'm not embarassed for Die Bunesliga. The league seems to be right in line, and maybe a litter more open, that these other major leagues.

Also, outside of Bayern, the leage had 2 teams in the last 16 of the Champions League and 1 of the final 8 of the Europa League.

Good post, Mjolnirs. Maybe it's just a misconception that Bayern own the Bundesliga, but it seems every season they win a German double, and that they are head and shoulders above the rest of the league even midway through the season.
