United needs:

Need a CD to pair with Smalling
Right Wing with pace, goal scoring ability and skills.
Center Mid - the illusive Box to Box guy that can dominate, not afraid to shoot or distribute.

Striker is debatable.  Rashford looks the part but is young.  Do you roll with him or bring in a proven scorer?

Sell Rooney.  Give away Fellaini.  Jones can go.

Martial                  Rashford                   RW

                CM                Mata/Herrera

                       Schneiderlin

Shaw/CBJ     CD     Smalling     Fosu Mensa

                      De Gea

LET'S GO CHELSEA!!!!

Kill me now. I think I'll have to be rooting for Stoke (the "Orcs of Mordor," they were called on another board) and Bloody Awful West Brom Sunday.

Always hate to hear about these old stadiums closing.
I haven't been to Upton Park but I've been to two other old London grounds:  White Hart Lane and Selhurst Park.  They're full of history and can produce a great match day atmosphere but sorely lack the amenities that American fans would expect.  They're nestled into residential areas so accessibility and security are also legitimate concerns.  It was great to see games there but if I went to 20 games/year, my knees and butt would appreciate a new home for my club.

The East End that begat the Boleyn Ground is vanishing, mostly due to the astronomical rise of London property values.  A lot of West Ham supporters are coming into London for home games now so the move to Olympic stadium will just mean a different train to ride.

I don't see how they can go that young and expect much different next year (these guys aren't the same kids from the infamous quote - I know that's stating the obvious).  But, I agree with most of what you have - I would see if you can find a proven goal scorer and give Rashford as many games as you can but don't rely on him.

I was torn going in to today but ready to say "#### off" to LvG - if I wanted to be bored to death I'd watch I'd watch the WNBA.  I wanted TSO to take over when SAF retired but not so much now.

Hoping they can win the FA Cup and they tell LvG to get lost.

Pochettino was photographed, with one of his assistant coaches, meeting with SAF today in London.  Caused a complete meltdown on every Spurs board - but apparently nothing untoward by the meeting, just awkward timing :oldunsure:

Huge game for Sunderland on Tuesday.  A win over Everton will ensure survival, £1?0 and the relegation of Newcastle.  I'd be happy the see the legend of Big Sam continue and for the vile Mike Ashley to have a really bad day.

The Black Cats have been down this tightrope before.  They haven't scored more than 40 points since 2011-12 and haven't finished better than 10th in their current nine year run in the top flight.  But survival is like a trophy.

Anyone following this odd Kei Kamara story?

======================================================

* Kamara is a striker for the Crew.

* On Saturday he scored 2 goals and then there was a pk for his side.

* Kamara picks up the ball and heads to the spot looking for his first ever hat trick

* His team mate Higuain, comes up and takes the ball from him.

* The two start an obvious argument on the field as Ethan Finlay gives a comment or two

* Kamara takes the ball back from Higuain and gives it to Parkhurst the captain (as if to say you figure this out).

* Parkhurst looks dumbfounded, throws the ball back to Higuain and tries to calm down Kamara.

* After the game, Kamara went right to media and started #####ing.

* Kamara's story was that Higuain wanted Finley to take it.  Finley said no, and then Hig said he would do it.

* Kamara called him selfish and that it was his turn to take it.

* Kamara explained that the system they use in Columbus is to alternate who takes and it was his turn, and he really wanted his hat trick

* The coach, Greg Berhalter, tried to take as much of the blame for the cluster #### as he could saying

“We have two players who are designated to take penalty kicks, and it’s on me for not qualifying which one takes it in this game,” Berhalter said. “I’ll take full responsibility for that … Rest assured it’s not going to happen again.”

* Kamara continued his rant saying that it was only because of lack of PK's that he lost the Golden Boot to Giovinco last year

* Then it got ugly.  Kamara just ripped Higuain as a teamate saying:

“I haven’t really had to depend on Pipa at all,” Kamara said. “How long have I been here? How many goals have I scored? How many have come from his assists? One, maybe two. I don’t depend on him. I depend on Ethan, I depend on my outside backs to pass me balls.”

“I admire [Orlando City’s] Kaká and [Cyle] Larin connecting. I admire [Montreal’s Ignacio] Piatti and [Didier] Drogba connecting. How many times have me and [Higuain] connected?

“To me and to the relationship to believe in my number 10, my playmaker, there is none,” he said. “I never have to worry about it.”

* A day later it was rumored that the Crew immediately started to shop Kamara to try and trade him before the trade window closes.

* Today it was announced that the Crew have suspended Kamara for one game

I agree with you, need some experience in there.  Carrick would help.  If you get the right winger/CM/CD then that could be all you need.

TSO makes me nervous with all the kids in the lineup.  I would love Laurent Blanc or even Pelligrini to come in.  Cose may win a title, but I fear in 2-3 years we would be back in the same spot we are now...

Now they can concentrate on the FA Cup!  (Although there is slim hope of a swansea win in league)

A lot of dominoes would have to fall right but Manyoo could still miss out on European football next season altogether, if I'm calculating correctly. Not that I would wish that on them, of course.

Conversely, Villa plays his ### off every game.

So they have 1 great DP, the worst ever, and then Pirlo who does Pirlo things, but doesn't really play defense.  Neat.
Villa has been a fantastic signing.  Everything you want from a high paid guy.  Pirlo does not make a ton compared to the other big names, but overall he has been a disappointment for me.

I guessed completely wrong on the Gerrard vs Lampard game of whom would do better in MLS.  Gerrard has been overall poor to average (especially considering he is taking up 30% of the salary budget by himself) but at the very least he gets on the field and tries.

Sadly they could finish anywhere from 4th to 8th depending on how Sunday shakes out.  Then a week later the FA Cup...

Yeah, I would have a lot more sympathy for Kamara if he hadn't been acting like such a petulant child about the whole thing. Not just in the media (which would be bad enough) but even in the game, after the PK he decided he was just going to force a shot on every possession, even when he had open teammates in better positions. Did I mention they blew a 4-1 second half lead at home? Because that was largely Kai's fault.

I don't know what the 2015-6 final numbers in the EPL will be, but the last place team in the EPL made more than all but the top 4 in La Liga will next year in 2014-5
There's way more money in England, yes. But the key for these numbers is they represent a 250% increase in revenue for over 15 Spanish clubs, but less than 10% increase for RM and Barca.

do teams over seas have local TV deals along with the national tv deals like we do here in the US for the non NFL sports?  Or is the tv set up more like the NFL where there are no local packages, only national packages?
I don't know about this, but doubt there is much separate local coverage since all of Spain is about the size of Texas.
