He wasn't horrible before that but I still hate to see him on the pitch. Hopefully Moyes comes and gets him this week after they announce Pogba.

Rooney was poor again I thought - he may be past it.  I just don't see where he fits it any more.  With Mkhitaryan and presumably Pogba filling the 10 role I think Rooney will have to really improve his play to continue to be a regular.  Pains me to say it as he's been my favorite player for 12 years.

Leicester will continue to be a tough side to play - they just have zero depth and with CL play it will be tough for them to stay in the top 4 I think.  They've done well to keep Mahrez and Vardy - hope both of them stay.

can someone explain to me the difference between a foul in the box resulting in a PK and one resulting in an indirect free kick?

I think indirect free kicks in the box can be caused from; back pass to the keeper who picks it up with his hands. Dangerous play, but not actually a foul on another player. Or back to back touching the ball without it leaving the box on restarts. Other fouls on players or hand balls are PKs

My buddy runs this EPL weekly pool. $10 a week. Prizes weekly and at season's end. Jersey giveaway each week as well. From what I'm told. I haven't read the rules. I'm doing it though.

It's actually EPL plus the Newcastle game since he refuses to think of them being out.

Man, Lodiero is goooood.
he really is special.

And he is taking to the league so fast.  It is probably too late to fix Seattle's issues this year but he is going to be huge to build around in the future at 27.  I know the league needs star power, but these lesser named South American offensive players are so friggan good compared to our domestic offensive talent that every team should have one.

I get a strange kick out of the lengths Morris will go to avoid using his left.
There have been other significantly one footed players in the past like Morris but the biggest difference between say Morris and Preki is that Preki's one foot was incredibly skilled where as Morris's one foot is really just kind of average.

Sebowski strongly disagrees with all of this.

Olympics need to quit giving the host country a free pass in soccer. They're just not competitive.

Felt really strange actually rooting for Iraq to pull off upset.

With the number of shots that Brazil has taken in first 2 matches that were nowhere near the net, what are the chances that Brazil is match fixing?

They might as well take it out of the games completely - it's kind of pointless IMO.

Wouldn't them losing both matches make them not competitive?

I am old enough to remember when Brazil was actually good at soccer :)

Seriously though, my god what a bad run they have been on ever since Germany destroyed them in the WC in their home country.

Since that time, they have lost in the quarter finals of the 2015 Copa, did not get out of the group stage in the 2016 Copa, are off to a horrendous start in the 2018 WCQing where after 6 games played, they are in 6th place and not even in the playoff spot for South America in the table, and now off to a poor start at home in the Olympics.

Couldnt agree more.  His first half was controlled, solid.  He passed and didnt foul anyone, attacked the ball on headers.  Thought I would be eating crow after the ranting and raving I did seeing him in the lineup.  But then he plays a perfect through ball to Vardy and the  :fro:  was back.  To be fair he isnt a bad player.  He just isnt good enough for a side that has title aspirations.  Loved the social media believing this was a Mou mind game to make sure Pogba gets completed.

Rooney.  What to do with him.  You cant have him, carrick and fellani in the middle together vs a team with speedy midfielders.  Will get killed.  But like you said, so many better options with Mhki and Pogba coming in.  Heck, Herrera and Mata are better options at this point.

Impressed by Bailly.  A little reckless at times but has the pace to run with Vardy and the composure on the ball when needed.  He and Smalling will make a nice pair.

Shaw looked good, and so did Valencia.  Martial and Zlatan were a bit invisible at times.  Lingard played well and his goal was fantastic.

Leicester looked good and are going to be tough all season. Hopefully Mahrez stays.

@El FloppoMancini out! DeBoer in!  Serie A is so fickle...Mancini has only been there for a season & a 1/3...& had Inter in 1st by last Christmas break.  TL:DR...this is why I love Serie A ...so much drama, so much...never mind, I can't adequately express my emotions without using my hands, so it doesn't translate well on a message board...

only Kafka can provide a TL:DR summary that is longer than what it was suppose to summarize :)

Full kit wankered my kid today for  "Dress in your favorite team jersey" day.  Full toddler Bayern Munich kit.  Spent the morning calling him Karl-Heinz, to the consternation of my wife.

Wenger is being coy, but it's hard to see Arsenal not trying to buy Mustafi with Gabriel and Mertesacker injured.  Not sure where Arsene stands on another striker.  Doesn't appear to want to go over 40 million pounds or so, and I'm not sure he can get the quality he wants for that price anymore.

Judging by yesterday, El Cheapo figures to slot Sanchez into the striker role...It's like a new signing!

That was the plan in Alexis' first season.

As amazing as the lack of new signings is, so is the fact that both Theo and Ox are still on the team.  Theo in particular (LOL to hear him now agitating to be moved back to the wing after whining that he was a ST for God knows how long).  Ox is right on track in his annual "look great in August, have everyone calling to sell him by January" performance.
