You liked Musa's skills?  Granted it was his first game, but I saw none of that.  I thought he was extremely disappointing.. just looks like a raw, pace monster...kinda like a certain Ivorian, who now displays his wares in China.  This is obviously subject to change, but I expected more from Leicester's "record-signing"...
even the forehead had some fun skills; that's part of what was so great about him.

besides the forehead, and besides never having to really root for a team he played on- he'd flash something amazing, and then something... not so amazing.

No just God makes Piers Morgan your most well known celebrity supporter.
Yeah, well... maybe if you had the "Holy Ghost" to complete the Trinity, you guys could secure the title...

No just God makes Piers Morgan your most well known celebrity supporter.
still my favorite Piers Morgan write up:

You may hate Piers Morgan for a lot of reasons, but the first and foremost reason to hate his attempted leap on to the American World Cup bandwagon is this: everything he touches turns to ####. He became editor of the News of the World, a paper that now no longer exists. He was fired from the Daily Mirror after a long series of incompetency, and then joined the toiletization of CNN before dragging down the ratings and ultimately getting canceled. If Piers Morgan just walked into your Starbucks, then that Starbucks, and two adjoining businesses, are now completely on fire, and he is whistling and walking out with free coffee.

If Piers Morgan enters your club, your club is about to be crushed by the steaming guano of a passing nine-ton mutant fruit bat.

You can also hate him because the USMNT are in a fight, and Piers Morgan is very, very bad at fighting. He was punched repeatedly in a fight by a fat man with a bad smoking habit. He was out-dueled in a debate by Alex Jones, a conspiracy theorist who sincerely believes robots are going to rule humanity by next Wednesday. Piers Morgan has in fact lost most every public debate he's ever had, including the one he had with gravity while falling off a Segway. The earth broke three of Piers Morgan's ribs. If you didn't love it for being your home, you love Earth a little more now after reading that.

You can hate him because after somehow becoming one of Great Britain's Fifty Official Celebrities who make money simply by bouncing from one doomed BBC franchise to another, he has attempted to do the same in the United States with disastrous results. Glomming onto our soccer team is just one more step in the failed wooing of the United States, a country whose culture Morgan understands about as well as he understands British privacy laws. We like our Brits haughty without the need to be liked, like Simon Cowell. We like ones who solve mysteries in tiny New England towns in 47 minutes, like Angela Lansbury. We love Adele, who isn't particularly American for any reason but whatever. She can get a free Michael Bradley jersey on the house anytime.

We love Hugh Laurie and Idris Elba most, and primarily because most of us believe they are, in fact, American. And passports and facts aside, Piers, that's enough for us. Being American is less a fact than a belief; that you, like House, can diagnose the disease while dispensing a series of brutal one-liners. It's the belief that even when you find yourself in the clutches of sea monsters like Ghana, Portugal, and Germany, you can grit your teeth, build a giant Clint Dempsey kaiju Jaeger, and cancel your apocalypse. That's what President Luther Stringer Bell taught us. That's what we believe.

And yes, I believe in our hastily constructed, half-German giant robot soccer team, Piers Morgan. I also believe you should get the entire #### away from it, immediately. In closing: Get away from my team, plague monkey, before you infect it with whatever franchise-killing dengue you carry in your bones.

P.S. WE NEVER SAY THIS WORD, PIERS. #USMNT

It's only one game, but I tended to agree.  I was excited to see all the pace, but Musa seemed to me to lack a lot of end product.  As someone who has spent a lot of time watching Ibe and Sterling, Musa didn't exactly excite me.

That being said, it's just one game.

You guys are crazy, the drunk guy that calls most of the bundesliga games on FS1 is great.
I swear; I never have, & never will, work for FS1, nor call a Bundesliga game...but do appreciate the compliment.

Your fascination with Arsene(al) is intriguing... :topcat:
I think you have me confused with someone else...I rarely post anything about Arsenal.  I mean #### Arsenal, but its more fun to wind up the Liverpool supporters than the Arsenal supporters on the board.  I just happened to see this earlier, and agreed with what he said about the impacts of English clubs overpaying for players now - and how that will impact the ability to sell those players later (which then impacts how much they can spend later)

I know...j/k, but that's no fun, is it?  Conjecture is much more entertaining.

I feel bad for Arsene.  He finished 2nd last year and consistently puts out a great product. They were only 6 goals away from City last year for most goals in the EPL, and yet the fans are crying out as if the team can't score goals.  Yeah, I get that the fans want a striker.  But it's hilarious that the fans want Lacazette, who didn't make the French team, when they have Giroud, who was a starter and performed great.

Yeah, they may need a striker as a backup, but this team doesn't have any problem scoring goals and there aren't any elite level strikers out there that are willing to leave, unless you wanted to spend 80M for Higuain, which Arsene was not willing to do, nor would it have been wise, imo.

It appears that the fan-base massively underrate the skills of Giroud.  I mean, they have a really good striker as it is...

Giroud isn't the problem.  It's the strikers after Giroud that are the problem.  Not as big of a problem as CB, but a problem.  Giroud is good enough to be getting minutes at Arsenal, but he's not good enough, and not durable enough to get ALL the minutes at Arsenal.  Also, fans want Lacazette because they want a different type of striker for matches where Arsenal might not control midfield.  One with pace who gets behind defenders.  Lacazette has also scored 54 goals in 84 appearances the last two years.  Whatever Laurent Blanc Deschamps preferred (he used Gignac because he was similar to Giroud), Lacazette had a decent shout to be included on Les Bleus.

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the new $350 million, 22,000-seat LAFC Stadium on Tuesday, August 23

The FS1 ratings are taking an extra hit because Fox has been showing the bigger MLS games on the Fox network itself.  If those games were on FS1 as normal, the FS1 ratings would obviously be higher as well.
Here is another example of what I was referring to:

Jonathan Tannenwald‏@thegoalkeeper

I am told that the Sept. 18 Toronto FC-New York Red Bulls game is moving to 5 p.m. and will now be televised on Fox's over-the-air network.

as expected

De Gea
Valencia Bailly Blind Shaw
Pogba Fellaii
Mata Rooney Martial
Zlatan

1 of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesnt belong

I get that it's good for TV which is all that matters but weeknight games are tough for traveling supporters.
agreed, its all about the $$$$$

May work if you had teams near each other playing.  United City, London Teams, liverpool everton, etc

was watching ESPN FC last night- both guys were commenting on how much they preferred, as players, playing on Friday night than weekend days. said the crowds and even players would be half-asleep compared to night games. plus, extra nights to party.

Not surprising, I know I loved playing night games.  And cooler at night

In a (really) weird way, I think Man United are a lot like last year's Leicester City.  I know United can buy whoever they want, but I think they have really bought well this summer, and have players who really fit the system that Jose wants to run.  Target striker in Zlatan, engine in the midfield in Pogba, they have good outside wing-backs to deliver the ball into the box.  Even :fro:  seems to fill a specific role, though we will see for how long.

Long season though.  Man City did not concede a goal until week 6 last season, and they fell off the pace....

yeah. Man United are just like Leicester.

No - I know it came across weird - just pointing out that I thought they bought the "right" players.  Not every team, even with deep pockets, get the right players.  Just look at Liverpool...

But, I really though Leicester last season, had the exact right players for the system they ran.  I don't think they were the most talented squad, but they might have been the best fit for tactics.  United this year, after a huge sample size of 2 games, feel like they have all the right pieces to play Jose's style.

Let me say I have no complaints about Fellaini's play today.

What Pogba brings is speed and strength.  He can turn and run away from players and relieve pressure on the def.  Rooney, Fellaini, Schneid, Carrick, none of those guys can. He also takes people on and gets into space with attacking in mind.  United have missed that presence the last few years.

Add Zlatan and you have that pure scorer like Ruud, van Persie, Rooney of the past, something else missing under Moyes and LVG.

Martial looked a little less then sharp.  Should have had 2 goals.  He will get going.  You can see Mkhi's potential.

The 2nd half looked more like vintage United then vintage Jose.

I'm excited

I do understand Sinn's point, if not the comparison itself.  United look extremely cohesive for a team this early in the season.  Everyone knows his job.  Pogba fit very, very nicely.  His feet are so good, and he broke pressure in midfield constantly.  Fellaini seems to understand what's being asked of him.  Bailly is gobbling up crosses like he's Pac Man.  And Zlatan is Zlatan.

no- I got it.

and of course breaking your balls, because it's kinda easy to bring in two guys like Pogba and Zlatan and have them fit... kind of tell everybody else to make damned sure they fit. but kudos to Jose really- if he can keep unibrow honest as the DM and that backline cohesive, should be scary watching what the rest of the players do. I know they have a good history/relationship, but hopefully jose doesn't #### it up with zlatan and/or pogba by chaining them down.

Its only the 2nd game of the season but does anyone else feel like Leicester v Arsenal is a must win for both teams?  More so for Arsenal?
