Press today:Not sure why people follow the transfer rumor mills hard at all.
I think there is a technicality. PSG did not spend any money on Neymar - they essentially signed him on a Free Transfer - true story.m'bappe to PSG for 160mil euros? the ####? FFP- I'll admit I don't understand it even in the slightest... but they are spending 380mil euros on two players and staying within FFP?
What a coincidenceI think there is a technicality. PSG did not spend any money on Neymar - they essentially signed him on a Free Transfer - true story.
Neymar himself bought out his contract from Barcelona - that in fact was part of the delay, the funds had to come from Neymar personally. Now, where it gets sticky is that Qatar Sports Investments recently signed Neymar to a €300M contract to be an "ambassador" for Qatar 2022. Coincidentally, Qatar Sports Investment also owns PSG - lucky them that Neymar decided to use his new found riches to buy out his Barça contract...

PSG will surely have to declare this type of third party payment for FFP accounting purposes. The difficulty in part is that it simply won't be known for some time how they account for this transaction. Break-even compliance is reviewed and enforced on an annual basis, and it will probably be some time before PSG is required to submit financials for this summer. The big question will be whether PSG has the (legitimate) income to support its expenditures within the ranges allowed by FFP. I've got no idea how it will play out, but one question I have is, how much would it be worth to Qatar World Cup '22 to have Neymar as an ambassador? If PSG owns Neymar's marketing rights, can it sell that service to Qatar? If so, what is the reasonable fair value of that service? The time PSG was sanctioned for FFP violations a few years ago was not because it spent too much, but because it artificially inflated the revenue side through juiced marketing agreements with Qatar-based interests. In other words, the marketing deals were not FMV / arm's length prices.I think there is a technicality. That becomes something to litigate over - and why some are not enamored with state-ownership. In the Man City (and I think PSG) cases previously - there were arguments made that the sponsorship funds paid directly to the clubs were not market-value transactions, and had to be scaled back.PSG will surely have to declare this type of third party payment for FFP accounting purposes. So you're saying anyone could have signed him on a free? That becomes something to litigate over - and why some are not enamored with state-ownership. In the Man City (and I think PSG) cases previously - there were arguments made that the sponsorship funds paid directly to the clubs were not market-value transactions, and had to be scaled back.
In this case though, the payment is directly to the player* - presumably the club had no say in how that player used the money - and while we all "know" differently - it would be hard to prove otherwise.
I would say that PSG/Qatar Sports Investment have exploited a legitimate loophole here - legally speaking.
*ETA - at the time of the payments - Neymar was a Barcelona player, not even under PSG control...
I suppose its possible, but it would take some balls for PSG/Qatar to make that argument as it undoubtedly violates the spirit if not the rule of the FFP "reporting perimeter" structure. Its hard to imagine there were no agreements or legal controls in place with that amount of money changing hands. I hate to geek out on this, but I think the CAS Petrolul Ploiesti v UEFA case is somewhat instructive, for those who are interested: https://jurisprudence.tas-cas.org/Shared Documents/3453.pdfThat becomes something to litigate over - and why some are not enamored with state-ownership. In a manner of speaking. But, not really. So you're saying anyone could have signed him on a free?

I did not readall of thatanything but the conclusion - but it seems fairly easy to distinguish this case - Qatar Sports Investment's contract with Neymar - presumably the offending contract - was made when Neymar was a player for Barcelona - not PSG. No legal reason for PSG to include that payment within its "reporting perimeter".
This is distinguishable from a situation, where PSG pays below market wages to Neymar to stay within FFP, and QSI then pays him a separate wage as its "ambassador" - that would fall within the reporting perimeter.
The principal objectives behind the UEFA CL & FFP Regulations would be at risk if clubs were allowed to transfer obligations outside the core club structures in order to escape monitoring requirements under the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play system. Clubs must be prevented from attempting to circumvent the rules by using third parties as a means to transfer their obligations in respect of the payment of compensation to employees.
But avoiding the transfer fee is not transferring the obligation to pay the employee.I'm only saying the case is somewhat instructive, of course not directly on point. It seems to me the key aspect of the reporting perimeter concept is directly at issue:
Wouldn't some of this mess been alleviated if Spain had transfer rules more similar to the rest of the UEFA leagues? I confess to not being as informed about this as most of the rest of you.
I think these hit the nail on the head - La Liga's rules of requiring the player to buy out his own contract led to this situation. But avoiding the transfer fee is not transferring the obligation to pay the employee.
Strictly speaking, no. But this transaction structure, if PSG is indeed claiming a zero transfer purchase price, is certainly transferring an obligation outside the core club structures in order to escape monitoring requirements under the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play system. When a player is acquired via release clause, its always the player (not the acquiring club) who technically pays the fee. He is buying out his own contract. But avoiding the transfer fee is not transferring the obligation to pay the employee.
I think you meant to post this in the Survivor thread. This is all really dumb.
a) I scored a butt goal once (it was one of just two goals I ever scored in travel ball) - I was ridiculed for it
Yeah he deserved a punch in the face.b) I would have shanked flip PK kid the next time I was near him

loved the throw-in one. I tried to do something similar on an indirect freekick against the last defender, but didn't work out so well for me.a) I scored a butt goal once (it was one of just two goals I ever scored in travel ball) - I was ridiculed for it

d) GB that Ronaldo goalzo
e) how on earth the Thiago score from there.
I noticed how aggressive the RM players were with the ref after the penalty was called on Suarez' dive. They grabbed his arm and shirt, stuff that would not be tolerated in American sports or (I think) even in England. Ronaldo's shove was only a small step further from what the ref had already allowed. Crazy game. The Classico always delivers. The epic drama, incredible talent, tactics, intensity. There's nothing like it anywhere else in sports as far as I know.Cristiano given a 5-match ban for pushing the Ref after the Red card.

My very first game in a really casual adult league, I hadn't really played since some intramural in college. I scored tripping over the ball.
80%. You got some of that sick China money now.Katharina just tweeted that she's officially sold some part of Southampton FC to a Chinese father and daughter.
lol.I don't want Jack Wilshere to go to Newcastle to be paired with Jonjo Shelvey in center midfield. I need Jack Wilshere to go to Newcastle to be paired with Jonjo Shelvey in center midfield. We all need it.
Maybe we'll be able to80%. You got some of that sick China money now.
they didnt seem to park the bus and they kept attacking. 2 things I saw that were missing since the departure of SAF, the counter attack with pace and determination and putting a team away. The first goal was a classic SAF counter. Went with pace and multiple players running at the defense. Then, up 2-0 you felt the last 3-4 years was about holding on. Even last season you wondered if they would give up a goal or two. Yesterday, like SAF, they went and got 2 more to put the game away. Very nice to see.I kept saying last year that Pogba was creating a lot of opportunities for himself and just missing. always had the feeling that if some of those went in, he'd have been off to a totally different season with some big numbers. maybe this year unlocks that potential? I think we all said over the summer what a potentially great pairing he and Matic could be... man- looks like it.as for United, that was definitely an encouraging result to see. I was extremely happy that up 2-0, despite putting inthey didnt seem to park the bus and they kept attacking. 2 things I saw that were missing since the departure of SAF, the counter attack with pace and determination and putting a team away.
