So all of this B.S. flying around and no Couthino to Barca, no VVD to Pool, no Sanchez to anyone, no Barkley to anyone, no Lemar to anyone?

And just to add insult to injury - it appears the Drinkwater transfer has been canceled because Adrien Silva failed his medical at Leicester...

Lemar opted to stay away from Arsenal.

Barkley backed away from Chelsea - after getting a call from Spurs...

I think both Liverpool and Southampton will regret not selling this summer.  I think the numbers got inflated unrealistically at the end because of the Neymar deal.  I think both players will be sold for significantly less next year - and neither player will make a significant difference to their teams this year.  Liverpool are not winning the league with Coutinho, and Southampton are not going to qualify for CL with Van Dijk.

Coutinho was never close to going

Liverpool ####ed up by tapping up VVD and because of that never made an official bid.

Sanchez shouldn't have chosen London in the first place. You make your bed, now lay in it.

Nobody wants to play for Chelsea

Nobody wants to play for Arsenal

Coutinho could still transfer to Barça tomorrow.  The Spanish window is open one more day, so Barça can still sign him.  Same goes for Atleti and Costa (but more complicated due to transfer ban).

The transfer ban only impacts the registration.  So why couldn't Atleti loan him to another (non-EPL) team?

France won 4-0 over Netherlands.

Lemar with the brace today for France. Mbappe with his first international goal. Griezman with goal and assist.

They can do that.  Word was it would be Porto or Milan.  But they may make Chelsea simply eat his wages instead.  They do face each other in CL group play as well...

They also ####ed up by not cashing in on the Coutinho hype. He'll go for 70 tops next year.

On the flip side, with how well Liverpool played last well.. just imagine Cutey in that mix. Should continue to be a lot of fun to watch... they didn't get any big time defenders in this window, right?

Yeah - Liverpool will not accomplish anything this year that they could not have accomplished without Coutinho.  Neymar skewed the entire market - and I don't see that situation playing out again next summer.  Qatar Sports Investment essentially put an extra €200 M into the market that won't be there next summer.

Same thing with Southampton and Van Dijk too - They should have sold when the money was crazy.  They are not going to win anything with Van Dijk, and they would not have been worse off without him.

Wayne Rooney was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving on Thursday night, according to multiple reports.

The BBC are among those to claim the Everton forward was stopped by police near his home in Prestbury, Cheshire.

A photo of Rooney at the Bubble Room bar in Alderley Edge appeared on Instagram at 10pm, although it was later deleted.

With the money these guys make they are idiots for ever doing that - not that it excuses the rest of us but they can have personal drivers or easily pay for Uber/Lyft

This is Spurs-specific - so I will spoiler it so you can avoid - but its a Post-mortem look at Spurs window from an ITK (who we think actually works at the club, rather than has connections) - its a good re-cap, of how they operated, and what they were after.

Summary of the window. We have to commend Daniel Levy. There were differences of opinions between him and Poch. I think it is safe to say both saw the light. There is absolutely no way anyone can criticise Daniel and moan about our missed targets, and 'Pinch of salt' ITK's who have given you very accurate, and honest updates, be it positive or negative. We do cross reference on occasions know

Big shout out to Rob (Governor) and A&C, for their excellent work. Before I go any further, I will be donating £50 between today and tomorrow. Bosses please inbox me to remind me.

I will bullet point what was said with results and reasons, to the best of my knowledge.

1. Ross Barkley=As was said all along, not fully fit, and issues with his injury, we wanted to deal at figure which will not go public, but less than chavs, but not much less. He came to London, hoping to be diverted William style, but Everton refused to talk to us, as chavs tried Daniel's famous (after Willian) exclusivity clause

When it became apparent after a flea got in his ear Ross scarpered, to return on our terms in January.  (Spurs top target all summer - Levy played hardball with Everton because Barkley wanted to come to Spurs.  Late hamstring injury made this deal unpalatable - but Everton thought they could sell him to Chelsea - Barkley refused in the end - Spurs will re-visit in January.  Barkley is out of contract next summer.)

2. Our contingency was Gomez as loan with option to buy. We were more keen on the loan with option in our favour, and not Barca. We would have to of made a commitment to buy either way. In the region of 40 plus million. Poch was asked, and was not keen. Daniel then walked away.  (Andre Gomes)

3. Llorente was the silent one, and so silent that our relationship with Swansea made sure it stayed that way. Chavs wanted to deal earlier in the window, but Swans wanted Bony, but couldn't deal until GS was sold. We were tipped off by their hierarchy that bid was accepted by Spanish club, and chavs. Poch made a personal call to him. Once that was done chavs stood no chance. This is all Poch.

4. VJ, Poch loves him as a person, and admires his attitude. Poch wants it to work for him, and told him he needs 3 specialist strikers, and with all the games he would get his games. (Vincent Janssen turned down a move to Brighton post-deadline.  Originally they were looking at a loan - but they (Brighton) already had the maximum number of loanees from PL clubs - so it had to be a sale or nothing.  Janssen opted to remain - which had to be a tough call, as he is currently the starting striker for the Dutch, but he stands to lose his spot by not playing)

5. DS= Without our backroom staff this deal would not even of developed. We had been talking to Ajax, having a full dossier on him. Chavs were very keen, along with the two Spanish giants. Also Bayern were keen. He spent a lot of time talking to Poch, and eventually that swayed it. He was shown videos of our complex and stadium. Enough said. (Davinson Sanchez)

6. SA=Another one down to our backroom staff. Daniel commissioned experts he trusts in France, along with very highly regarded legal counsel in the U.K., who were liaison with appropriate authorities to risk assess. Once they knew it was over, SA was so confident he declined Yanited and chavs especially. Poch played a blinder also. (Serge Aurier)

7. Foyth=Came out of Poch's influence and connections. Daniel, you naughty boy what you did with PSG. Can we say they were never serious?

8. GK=Poch wants 3, and convinced he will prove a shrewd signing, and rates his staff to improve him beyond compare. He also showed well in Spain. (Gazzaniga - Soton 3rd string GK, now Spurs 3rd string GK)

9. Wing forward, we had a few options, but reasons we pulled with Poch's blessings. Zaha is interesting, and may be revisited later. All down to Poch, and Zaha has 35m clause that becomes effective around April.

10. Jadon could be a Zaki Fryers in January or summer. Watch this space.  This is Jadon Sancho, 17-yo academy product from Man City signed with Dortmund, wanted to come to Spurs, but Man City would not deal - this is a reference to Zeki Fryers, who Spurs wanted from Man United several years ago, but MU would not deal, so he went abroad for a year, and then came to Spurs- Man U complained, but to no avail.  Personally, I think Sancho wanted Spurs, but he will be happy in Dortmund, so I don't see him coming back.)

11. Dembele will be utilised in advanced roles, subject to matches. Due to our pacey defensive additions.

12. Lamela is not far off, and will be used in No. 10 role. Hope it works out for him, because if not Roma is calling.

13. Danny boy Rose is happy. No issues with him. Still think he may go amicably end of season. We promised him that. Key to that will be if he is upgraded in his contract, as all the ones we want will be. Don't worry about Toby. All good.

There you have it. No moaning please. Overall we done good business. COYS!!!

I didn't think Ronaldo would even make an appearance last night but he did and scored three times. The first one was pretty slick, too. HUP FAROE anyway. Fourth place in the group is pretty amazing for a place where high balls are routinely blown into the ocean.

I can shed no light as to what happens with Virgil and Soton now. For one small thing, he and Yoshida are both better on the left side. But the bigger question, of course, is can he pull his head together until the January window? The good news for Saints is that new CB Wesley Hoedt started for Holland last night. The bad news is that Wesley Hoedt played for Holland last night.

LOL at Man City threatening to file a complaint over Arsenal not being able to consummate the Alexis transfer.  Maybe they have time to line up Lemar if you weren't offering Sterling and a bag of soccer balls earlier in the week.

wow... after Brazil at 36 pts and wrapped up, it's a scrum for the rest of the spots with 3 games left to play.
