"you've been good this year, here is a young South American attacker for you"

"well, I am feeling generous, here is one for you and for you and for you and for you and for you"

"what's that Mr Kraft?  you want a player too?  let me check my list to see if you have been naughty or nice"

Man U has problems with any kind of City.
Man, Leicester and Burnley City all causing problems.....

Doesn't bode well for games vs bottom of the table Swansea or Stoke.  Arsenal's wondering how they can add "City" to their name before the next match with United.

w00t!!!

(please be good, please be good)

Aside from signing a player at a position where they absolutely have to improve, it's a statement signing.

75 mil is insane.
Transfermarkt lists it at 78.8 MM Euros (no idea how they purport to know this info so soon with any certainty.)

If accurate as reported, its by far the highest transfer price for a center back in football history.

Stones is second at 55.6MM Euros

3. David Luiz 14/15 transfer to PSG - 49.5MM Euros

4.  Rio Ferdinand 02/03    transfer to United 46.0MM

5. Otamendi 44.6MM

6. Bonucci 42.0MM

7. Silva 42.00MM

8. Thuram's 01/02    transfer to Juve 41.5MM

9. Mustafi 41.00MM

10. Davinson Sanchez 40.00MM

With Keita at 67.5MM pounds, LFC now have 2 of the 4 most expensive transfers in PL history.

Pogba 94.5 MM Pounds Sterling

Lukaku 76.2

VVD 70.1

Keita  67.5

DiMaria  67.5

But, I thought Klopp said that was not the way to build a squad...

Top of the Premier League

15 point lead

Still unbeaten

17th goal for Raheem Sterling

18 league wins in a row

11 consecutive away wins going back to last season

Another clean sheet

I am not bitter...unless VVD learns how to play DM, he won't solve Liverpool's defensive problems...
I don't know that any Liverpool fan thinks VVD alone will solve all problems.  But signing an extremely good CB has to be considered a good thing.

I'm of the opinion that a GK is now priority #1 to improve the D.

Scary good team.  Most amazing thing is how solid they’ve been defensively

I didn't think they looked all that great today against Newcastle. Newcastle looked even worse though.

I agree that they have looked good this year so far, but that defense is still a little suspect, and that's what is going to be a problem in Europe IMO. [insertliverpooldefensivejokeshere]

75 mil is insane.
from a purely business aspect, it makes absolutely zero sense.

Lets look at some numbers.

*In the last 4 years, Liverpool have spent 173m on players from Southampton.

*Just a few months ago, 80% of the entire Southamptom club (all players, stadium, front office, coaching staff, academy, youth teams, etc etc) sold for only $200m

Take a minute to digest those two bullets

They've allowed 12 goals through 20 games.   I guess we'll see how good the defense is when they play a team that can have the ball more than 35% of the time, but there's not really another defense in Europe that jumps out at me as definitely better.  Maybe Atletico, I suppose.

HOT TAKE ALERT:  The only thing that has made United a 43 point team and not a 37/38 point team like LiFC and Spurs is De Gea.  I think he's probably been worth close to 5 pts in the table by himself this year.

I mean, I absolutely love the way Ederson is playing (his distribution is flat out amazing, like Pirlo wearing gloves), but De Gea is just head and shoulders above everybody at preventing goals himself.

Agree with all of this. Ederson distribution is just insane and he makes it look easy.

I will say that Liverpool defense has actually shown some good stuff of late (excluding the 3 goals against in 5 minutes last week).  Robertson has done well. Klavan/Matip partnered well (Matip underrated, IMO). Adding VVD will hopefully keep Lovren out of the lineup.

Really just need to get a GK that doesn't let soft #### through.
