Do they mean a buy back clause?

ETA: Sounds like it is a 6-year deal with RM. I didn't quite get what they meant above...

Yeah, I different article I read said Courtois 'inked' a 6-year deal.

Quite a long deal, esp for a GK.  Hope he doesn't catch Karius disease sometime in the next few years.

Hopefully, the Madridistas have forgotten how Messi scored between Thibaut's legs twice last March at Camp Nou.

That has to be a fake rumor? What would Spurs get out of that?
Nothing.  Rose does want out - but hard to see Spurs selling a HG player, given that they are already over the non-HG quota.

Last I heard, Spurs had offered Rose to Fulham as part of a deal to bring Sessegnon to Spurs.

What a mess... tough to see Spurs affording Sessegnon, I heard that they want £75m for him.

US Open Cup semi finals tonight

Philly hosts Chicago

Houston hosts LAFC
And with that news Union per sources will hire Ernst Tanner as Sporting director to replace Ernie Stewart who was hired as the USMNT First GM Position per The Athletic

"Multiple sources tell The Athletic that the Union is set to announce this week the hiring Ernst Tanner. Most recently at Red Bull Salzburg as the head of its academy and youth set-up, Tanner has a strong reputation throughout Europe for mining talent and developing it for Salzburg’s youth team.

During a career that spans management in Austria and Germany, Tanner has developed the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sebastian Rudy, and Sadio Mane, among others. His Red Bull Salzburg team won the UEFA Youth League championship two years ago.

Chris Albright, sources tell The Athletic, will stay on as technical director.

The onus will likely fall on Albright to help navigate the league’s myriad roster rules as Tanner becomes familiar with the intricacies of MLS."

Leonardo contacted Draxler regarding a transfer to Milan, but Draxler refused the offer and closed the door on a transfer. [@MCriscitiello]

What does RLC have to do to get a shot at Chelsea?  They are going to develop a Real Madrid player instead of letting their own guy have a shot.  Strange move all the way around.

Sounds like he needs to develop a work ethic and actually do something besides when he feels like it... :shrug:  at least that’s what I read from earlier in the thread.

Stolen from Facebook for RHE:

“Now that Chelsea have secured their new keeper Kepa, they are looking to bolster their attacking options by signing some fella called Numboneinen.”

Should be about 24 hours from the MLS2ATX vote. Council has a sweet deal on the table, but they could still screw it up.

I think Kovacic is expected to eventually start - meaning, Chelsea probably doesn't mean to "develop" him as much as they expect or hope he'll actually help them achieve whatever goals they have for the season - top 4 perhaps + winning the Europa? I don't think its strange at all to take Kovacic for a year to hopefully push the team into the top 4, although I have no idea how good he'll be.

RLC has been with the club since he was very young - 8 or 9 years old.  He was on the senior team under Mourinho for two years. Mourinho seemed to like him, although that second season was pretty strange for the players and manager. He probably had 5 or so league appearances and another 10-15 in cup games over 2 years for Jose. Very mixed performances. At one point Jose openly criticized Ruben for being lazy, which is an impression we all have had and its going to be hard for him to shake.  Conte played him a few times in his first season, but it was pretty much a wasted season on the bench.  Conte decided to loan him to Crystal Palace last season. I didn't see much of Crystal Palace or Ruben last season, but the word is he was pretty decent. Most supporters hope he gets a shot, but he still has to show he deserves it over the guys who are starting.  Kovacic is not his problem.  We all thought £40 mil Bakayoko was a problem for him last season, but he's now out of the picture.  Ross Barkley is really the guy he's got to prove himself over.  There will be minutes available so now is his chance.

Union win 3-0. Corey Burke with the brace '68.78' and Sapong scores in the 88'. Andre Spiderman Blake didn't have to do a lot in net tonight but Austin Trusty was everywhere. Nikolic didn't have a chance on Goal all night. Mckenzie didn't play as he's still has what the club calling a minor injury Bedoya had 2 helpers tonight. Bastian and Keita were held to quiet nights as well. 3rd time for the Union in the finals in 5 yrs and first since 2015.

Spurs' Transfer window:

Ten little signings standin' in a line,
Fulham got promoted and then there were nine;

Nine little signings; wouldn't that be great?
Ed wouldn't swap one and then there were eight.

Eight little signings who might be Tottenham heav'n.
One stayed at Lyon and then there were seven;

Seven little signings all with flicks and tricks,
One got loaned to Chelsea and then there were six.

Six little signings surely all alive,
Zaha kicked the bucket and then there were five;

Five little signings; who could ask for more?
Dortmund wouldn't sell, so then there were four.

Four little signings not exactly free
One met Raiola and then there were three;

Three little signings; I suppose that would do.
One wasn't home grown and then there were two

Two little signings linked in the Sun,
One rumour got pooh-poohed and then there was one;

One little signing left, so Dan proposed a sum
Villa said '#### right off' and then there were none.

with Chicago losing, the US Open Cup is now guaranteed a first time champ.  One of Philly, Houston or LAFC.

Kovacic has barely played for club or country in over a year. Now he walks in to Chelsea's XL? I forgot how bad EPL is.

Something to keep in mind as the offseason inches closer: Tanner comes from RB Salzburg. Jesse Marsch remains in the Red Bull organization. Marsch and Jim Curtin are close. We'll learn more in time, but I would have to think Marsch would put in a good word for Curtin as coach.

Jim Curtain thanks the fans and all and then puts this gem of a comment out

“Players win games, coaches lose them, and referees - I won’t say.” - Jim Curtin

I'm don't really remember ever seeing the guy play, outside a few minutes in the world cup, but the wikipedia page says he had 35 appearances last season for Real Madrid.  I guess he's supposed to start for them though, at some point this season. He'll have to be better than Ross Barkley.

I don't think 35 appearances when you are fighting with Casameiro, Kroos, Modric, and sometimes Isco at CM is anything to downplay :shrug:

Want to acknowledge this.

How can the Union be so meh in general and then become 2004 Arsenal in the Open Cup?  This is like a 15 or 16 match unbeaten streak they’re on. (I won’t acknowledge “other teams don’t care” type answers)

The Dream lives on...

I mean in the long run it’s a no risk situation for Chelsea.  If he sucks they can send him back.  If he dominates then maybe he can help them get top 4.
