Would be fun to see Shaqiri score in Belgrade and do his eagle thing.Meh, Belgrade isn't great, but at least it isn't Turkey.
And your other post was about Chelsea, I get it.This was about Real Madrid...
Domination by Real Madrid.Best Player: Luka Modric
Best Goalkeeper: Keylor Navas
Best Defender: Sergio Ramos
Best Midfielder: Luka Modric
Best Attacker: Cristiano Ronaldo
They are still playing Navas now, right?Domination by Real Madrid.
My first though was, what will Real do with Navas/Courtois? Seems like a very awkward situation there.
I don't believe Courtois has played yet for Real Madrid, although I guess they've only had a game or two since he joined. They are still playing Navas now, right?
Maybe Courtois gets the CL matches...
Gala was pot 4 I believe. I'm not sure that's happened before. Still not watching any games from this group.Group D - Least exciting, most competitive? No idea who makes it out of this group. Odds-makers say Porto and Galatsaray
and play, they should advance over Valencia and Young Boys. The draw also doesn't give them a sense that they should progress no problem so hopefully they take it seriously.aging?Group A - I think a fun matchup among Atletico, Dortmund and Monaco - I assume Atletico go through, no idea who joins them
Group B - Another set of good matches, I expect Spurs to edge Inter, and join Barça in the knockout round
Group C - Fun matchups with PSG, Napoli and Liverpool, followed by a trip to Serbia. PSG and Liverpool to advance
Group D - Least exciting, most competitive? No idea who makes it out of this group. Odds-makers say Porto and Galatsaray
Group E - Bayern should walk this, and I think Ajax can challenge Benfica for the 2nd spot
Group F - City strolls, Shakhtar and Lyon battle for 2nd
Group G - Madrid will not finish 2nd this season - Roma should also get through comfortably
Group H - Juventus and United - aging teams with just enough walkers to get past Young Boys.
why do you hate America so much?Gala was pot 4 I believe. I'm not sure that's happened before. Still not watching any games from this group.
You missed S####horpeGroup A: Atletico, Dortmund, Monaco, Club Brugge

Young, is, well, not Young

I hope they give Austin an expansion team...@claywsyx6: BREAKING: @MLS officials took an aerial tour of Columbus last week & signed off on proposed downtown stadium site & training facility, perhaps old Cooper Stadium site. Atlanta owner Arthur Blank said recently he could see soccer in Austin & Cols. @ColumbusCrewSC #SaveTheCrew
well that did not last longSaveTheCrew is still breathing![]()
If they some how resurrect The Crew after Precourt snakes out of town, they are going to have an instant wonderful rivalry with Austin.

Good. My wife has another London trip in mid-late October. And Wembley is a great stadium for soccer.. I really didn't want another reason to join her, because London is so much fun.Fixture list released

Chelsea away (Prem)

That is a pretty stern test of both depth and quality.
The carabao Cup will be a battle of the B sides. Good time to give Markovic a run at home.Yeah.. Brutal stretch. Hopefully a few are moved.
Helps that it starts in two weeks -- with one game between now and then. That is a pretty stern test of both depth and quality.
No international players for Liverpool? Seems about right ...Helps that it starts in two weeks -- with one game between now and then.
McBride was my first favorite Striker. Donovan I never liked. Always came off as the rich kid who cried when he didn't get his way type. And then he acted like a complete baby when he was off the USMNT Roster with Jurgen. He was past his prime at that point anyway with a dwindling down career.Of the US strikers I've seen: Donovan, Dempsey, Wynalda, Altidore, McBride, JMM
But Dempsey was my favorite.
Jurgen put his dislike of Landon ahead of the needs of the team and it cost themDJackson10 said:McBride was my first favorite Striker. Donovan I never liked. McBride was awesome- gave every inch and ounce of blood fro the team... and was good holding it up, or being the fox in the box or winning the air balls.DJackson10 said:McBride was my first favorite Striker. Not a striker, but I always loved Demarcus Beasely. In the 02 World Cup, I didnt think there were many players that could keep up with him. Was annoyed that Arena didnt lean on him more as the tourney progressed. He was lightning in a bottle when he was younger.McBride was awesome- gave every inch and ounce of blood fro the team... and was good holding it up, or being the fox in the box or winning the air balls.
Wynalda was my first fave. I'd only been aware of guys like Bruce Murray before... pedestrian, plodding, score a goal here or there but kind of cringey typical US player (at that point) to watch. friend/ex-teammate played college ball with Wynalda and said he was a total jerk, but I saw him play a college game on tv and he was pulling stuff we'd only try on the practice field.. but at full speed and with ill-intent.
Deuce is my favorite- always scoring huge goals, always trying ####, and was hugely talented. loved how he could combine with quality guys (always sad he couldn't find ways to more regularly do that with the US).
gonna disagree with you about landon. yeah- he was his own guy and needed a comfort zone. but he was always on 110% for the US, scored or created goal after massive goal and was able to burden being the face of the team for a loooong time. was also massive for his clubs in the US. and the JK ####ed up by not bringing him to the WC- the US needed his presence, even off the bench, more than a guy like Brad Davis (who I like).
The interesting thing about this conversation is that neither Landon or Dempsey were full time strikers in their career like McBride was. Even Waldo was used as a winger for many years when he had his legs.McBride was awesome- gave every inch and ounce of blood fro the team... and was good holding it up, or being the fox in the box or winning the air balls.

funny- I think of mcbride scoring goals... but I think you're right. what always registered for me- he made the guys around him better... always making that extra run to provide support or get in the box, or winning/holding the ball up front and getting his team-mates involved with a quick outlet touch. The interesting thing about this conversation is that neither Landon or Dempsey were full time strikers in their career like McBride was. Even Waldo was used as a winger for many years when he had his legs.
This is what makes Sargent so interesting to me. He looks like he might be our first pure quality true number 9 we have ever produced. While McBride was a fun player who got every thing he could out of his skill set, he was not a pure goal scorer. I sometimes think he was so complete a player it covered up that he did not put the ball in the net with the frequency one would like for an out and out striker.
They have an interesting tradition at their home games: Ring of FireI need to watch more PAOK games just for their keeper. Complete nutter.
Everyone clamoring to see Ruben Loftus-Cheek should get their wish. I've never heard of MOL Vidi in 30+ years following Euro football.Sinn Fein said:Group L: CHELSEA, PAOK, BATE Borisov, MOL Vidi
it was a name change that just happened this year. Mol I think is the name of their main sponsor (something similar to the Red Bull teams)I've never heard of MOL Vidi in 30+ years following Euro football.
that's because you've been following Videoton FC all these years.Everyone clamoring to see Ruben Loftus-Cheek should get their wish. I've never heard of MOL Vidi in 30+ years following Euro football.
Jozy is a perfect example. I want Sargent to follow Jozy's path but not have the ceiling issues. Jozy could not break through into a league above Holland or MLS. If Sargent can in Germany, I think this puts him on an excellent path to be better than Jozy.funny- I think of mcbride scoring goals... but I think you're right. what always registered for me- he made the guys around him better... always making that extra run to provide support or get in the box, or winning/holding the ball up front and getting his team-mates involved with a quick outlet touch.
I'd say Jozy is a true striker, as you're hoping for Sargent. and even though he has his wtf moments/games, the guy has produced and is the first of the really all-around talents we've had up front. always been a fan of his A game. his grabby, whiney, pissy, head-case C game, not so much.
I love those guys. Got their '87 kit from that year they made the Hungarian cup semis, knocked out on away goals by Borussia Budapest.that's because you've been following Videoton FC all these years.
