np with that ... won't be the last bet i ever lose, but it will be the last bet i ever lose wagering on IPL

btw, i could swallow it better if Uni Dub were a scrappy, tough  defensive side that just can't score goals (like Everton in EPL) - but they're a ####### sieve attached to a turnstile abutted by a ####### revolving door.

LET'S GO LIVERPOOL!

:ptts:

US Open Cup final tonight.

It will be the first US Open cup since 1996 to not be on broadcast/cable TV (ESPN+ is showing it).

Who ever wins tonight (Atlanta or Minny) will be the 63rd different team to win the US Open Cup since 1914.

Fulham/SoufHampton nil up at the half ... jumping Soufy at +115

HOW YA LIKE THAT, CHARVY?

we in now, baby!  :pickle:

what up, Footy Felines?

your "beautiful game" just made me sum beautiful coin  :towelwave:

srsly, that's from the chest, yo! PEEEAAAACE!

LET'S GO LIVERPOOL!!!

orly?

set aside the plunking on 5 or 6 ... we talkin' about not covering the spread after notching THREE in the first 35 minutes ... sorry, that's flat out nonsense.

"hey, 'Dalky ... ya cover that spread Monday and yer fookin'  nephew Seamus winds up fookin' legless up in fookin' Sligo! YA FOLLOW?"

"i follow"
"Black Sligo"

125+ years flushed :(

Bury has officially been expelled from the Football League.  First club to be expelled since Maidstone United back in 1992.

It's a shame.  Bury has been struggling for a while but the misdeeds of the past two owners Stewart Day and Steve Dale pushed them over the edge.  Lower league football in England is financially perilous.

congrats @McBokonon

Phoenix was down 2-1 late and scored three in three minutes to win their 16th straight and now hold the record for longest winning streak ever in US pro soccer history.

That is really cool :)

Pity Martinez has been so good now that he figured out the variables in MLS play.  Atlanta up 2-0 in the Open Cup final at halftime.
FDB has now won 2 trophies and has Atlanta 1st in the East (although NYCFC has a game in hand to go first).  If AUFC win the MLS Cup would this be the best season a MLS team has ever had?  I’ve only watched the last few years so don’t know.

I still think the defense is a little suspect but it’s no coincidence (IMO) that once Parkhurst and Jeff stopped starting  that the team has taken off - too old and slow to still play regularly.  It doesn’t hurt that Josef has been on a tear.  If Pity keeps up his play and Barco can get back to early season form then I like their chances to get to the final.  LAFC looks unstoppable but the most entertaining game I’ve watched all season was ATL-LAFC so it would make for a good match for the neutrals.

Was it not just a girl in a Chelsea top, and you could just barely see her belly button?

ETA: I think I just answered my own question, that Chelsea top was pretty offensive.

went to my 1st LIGA game last night at Aztec stadium in mexico city

120 pesos for an upper ticket . that's 8.50 CAN
110 pesos for 2 coronas - stop serving at the end of 1/2 time
7 pesos to get to the stadium

club America 1
Pachuca 1

the game was ok , nothing to exciting
the club America goal was a horrendous mistake by the Pachuca keeper
he made up for it later by saving a penalty shot
club America was done to 10 men ( 2 yellow cards) with 12 min left
Pachuca scored a nice goal to tie it up with 3 to play

stadium holds about 90K and was maybe 40% full
ok atmosphere
no drinking outside the stadium and very few food vendors but lots for merch
no belts and batteries are allowed and some cameras are not allowed in either

Looks like Sanchez has been loaned from Man United to Inter for the season.
Don't mind him going.  Need to unload Rojo, Smalling or Jones as well.  Just a little odd to move these guys without having brought in replacements.  Ole may have toooooo much faith in the youth system.  Hopefully Gomes, Garner, Greenwood, etc all pan out.

Still need to buy a proper #10. And maybe a right winger.  James has had moments and can still grow.  Also need outside backs.  Shaw is hurt, dalot is hurt which means YOUNG IS STARTING  :censored: . at left back.  Lingard at 10.  James at LW, Greenwood at RW with Rashford up top?  I imagine another frustrating day, this time vs Southhampton.

No belts?

how is the condition of the stadium?  From tv it looks like it has seen better days.

I wonder if they will be doing an upgrade for the 2026 WC...

what kind of range did you get on your urine-bag toss?

belts can be used as a weapon
don't worry you can still throw urine 🤢 . didn't happen at this game but my friends tell me it still happens against their hated rivals

stadium does need an upgrade . I heard the turf was horrible before I went but they must have made some repairs as it looked in decent shape

did your avatar get the axe as well?

Wolves vs Torino later today in a UEFA Cup Qualifier

Wolves bested 'em 3-2 last week, so have bird in hand coming in ...

few questions for you lot -

how important is this for these sides?  e.g. Wolves have a path to ascension in EPL ... how much do they care to expend here ... not only today, but going forward (if they advance, natch)

Wolves got a hard earned/11th hr point vs Burnley on Sunday ... do ya think the midweek tarentella with Torino factored in? (Wolves the better side vs Burnley).

full disclosure - not looking for wagering advice, strictly plunking on straight EPL from now on - just curious as to how this all unpacks

huge financial impact...  although teams like Wolves always struggle with depth.  They may have a good 14ish players, but rotating much beyond that gets tough.  This could explain the struggle to get a point v Burnley and could have a bigger impact today as this will be their 3rd game in 8 days.  (Soccer teams/players do best with one game/week.)  Although with the away win the Wolves should be favored to move on.  In theory the Wolves could take the air out of the ball and take a nil/nil into UEFA.

There was some visible underboob, right?  That's my recollection anyway.

grazie, Poke

ahhh, ok then ... shoulda known - CA$H IS KING.

another reason for asking was because a similar sitch arose a few weeks ago with Liverpool vs Chelsea, playing a Wednesday Cup Final match in Turkey.

Liverpool opened the EPL on the Friday afternoon prior with a 4-1 stomping of Norwich ... up 4-nil at the half, ceded one to Pookie (of course), but basically cruised.

Chelsea, conversely, opened on that Sunday, getting ####### spanked by United to the tune of 4-nil.

so Liverpool had roughly two extra days off, were the superior side, and awaaaaaay we go.

sure enough, the table flipped in Turkey - Chelsea scores first, takes 1-nil into the half.   Liverpool answered quickly, Chelsea pulled back ahead, then the 'Pudlians tied it, and had a very frantic finish where they barely missed getting the better.

extra time saw them both pop one ... PKs, and Liverpool are the champs.

promised i'd bet against both the following week, and it worked ....Liverpool sluggish in a 2-1 win over Southampton, and Chelsea was knotted by Leicster 1-1.

when i popped up in this thread the day of that Cup final i saw it referred to as a glorified friendly ... ergo, my curiosity piqued for this UEFA gig w/Wolves.

i been circling this upcoming match vs Everton as a lead pipe slam, but ... kinda leery now - hell, i know Everton isn't gonna score .... but after last week vs a weaker defensive side in Burnley, i dunno if Wolves tally, either

@otb_lifer any odds on the uefa player of the year? Loads to be made on VVD imo
nuttin' yet, Senator... can't log into my book from the NYC ... geo locator's a right #####.

If Wolves are honest with themselves, they have zero chance of top 4 or relegation this season. Given that, they seem to be a good candidate to go hard at Europa.

yep, literally skin from a boob. Although I'm not upset anymore now that I have the good Dr. back as my avatar
It has been hashed out so many times I probably should not beat the dead horse but I still wonder if they understand how ridiculously sexist their stance is on this stuff.  They have basically turned this site into a radical middle eastern country where if any skin on a woman is shown, it is the devils work.

my "Lovely Ladies" thread was nuked to oblivion ... never got a chance to back it up   :kicksrock:

I'm hoping Real Madrid land in group D with Juventus, Spurs got to like having Bayern in their group over some of the other heavies as Bayern aren't as strong anymore.
