My understanding is they are being given either 3 or 5 years to bring the stadium up to level or build a new one.

Ireland needed a win in their final Euro qualifier at home, but tie Denmark.

No Henry to blame this time...

Meanwhile, Gli Azzurri break their 85 yr old record for most consecutive wins (now standing at 11) with a relatively young squad...finished their Euro qualifiers a perfect 10-0, with a GD of 37-4...

 
This has been rumored for a while but now it is official.

MLS is dropping the stale MLS All-Stars vs Euro Club format next year and instead the MLS All-Stars will play against the Liga MX All-Stars in yet another small step towards uniting the two leagues eventually.

I'm not sure how to feel about Poch being gone.  The team has been ####e this year, but he's a helluva coach.  

Gonna have to cut some dead weight and buy some players in January to try to salvage something from this season.

It's dreadful for Spurs, regardless of how they've been over the past few months.  HE gave up and was spreading negativity in every press conference.  I can only imagine what life was like at the practice grounds.  Every player is playing below form.

BUT, he gave up and quit because he wasn't backed when he should have been.  Now, part of me thinks that's petty and childish of him.  Spurs had 3 big signings this summer, a brand new stadium and every reason to think they would begin to back him.  

But somehow in this process they blew their chance to join the elite and I don't know if they'll have a coach this good for a long, long time.

Unless Jose arrives next week.

I agree with everything you've said.  If you look at the results outside of an improbably UEFA run, the team has been poor since the close of the January 2019 window.  

I'll be curious to see what happens with the likes of Kane/Son/Alli/Sanchez/Lloris now.

It seems likely Jose and Maurizio will both be failing upward this summer.

I believe Wenger just took a job with FIFA.  Bayern and Spurs jobs are open and there are several other potential big opportunities out there.

I still think there is a chance that Spurs can come back from this.  Poch built a great foundation, the stadium is still there, I believe there are funds for transfers now, and the players have proven that they are great players.

But it will require an elite coach to pick them back up and stop players streaming for the exits.  If Poch leaving means Kane/Alli/Son/Eriksen/Moura all demand to leave, then yeah Spurs are in deep trouble.

But if Mourinho joined (and there's already lots of twitter speculation that both parties are interested), immediately turned around the attitudes of these players, got them playing well again and then got a few defensive additions in January, perhaps he could bridge the gap in a way that sees this thing continue to move upwards.

It's hard to imagine why you fire a guy like Poch unless you have a backup plan.  There must be a plan and I figure that the only way a decision like this is made is if they know who's coming in after them.

 
Manchester United have a tough set of games on the horizon.  Their mini-resurgence (on the back of some easy games) is fools gold.  Ole is gonna be under serious pressure the next time they hit a tough run of form as the media will start the Poch to United rumors pretty soon.

 
Wow this sucks.  What a fun run the last few years have been.  I hope it's not all coming to an end but I'd have to guess there's a better than 50/50 chance of that at this point.  Spurs aren't one of those top teams where you can just blow everything up and know that everything is going to be OK in a few years.

Jose is the overwhelming favorite by the odds makers to be named the new coach.   

The current odds are 1-6 (yes, I typed that right).

It will be interesting to see how this works out.   Jose used to complain about a nearly unlimited budget when coaching Man United.

Jose doesn't make sense.  If Levy was ready to open the purse strings, then why not give Poch $150M last summer to see what he could've accomplished with some added talent?  If Spurs start spending now and Jose wins them a title I personally think it'd be a pretty dirty thing to do to Poch.

 
Sky is reporting Jose is imminent.  (And that makes sense given that I don't think Levy makes this move without a replacement lined up)

But The Guardian is reporting that Senior members at Spurs (presumably management) want Eddie Howe.

Never thought I would say - I hope Spurs sign Jose.

Jose with the Spurs....  Wow.  That's gotta sting Chelsea fans more than his experiment with ManU!

I think it'll work, for at least the next two seasons.  He's a big enough NAME to get the team to buy in and his defensive structure will improve Tottenham's back line immensely.  Of course, given Mourinho's history, it will all come to a flaming end in 3-4 years.

I think it’s a great move for Spurs. It puts to a screeching halt the exodus that would have happened if a crappy coach came in, and he can conceivably get this team back into the top 4 and competing for the FA cup and the CL.

Mourinho is a great motivator in the short term and I think he will get them a trophy or two in the 2-3 years he stays.

And while his exits are always messy, I suspect he will leave them in a much better spot than they would be in if they hired Big Sam or Eddie Howe (scenarios that would see players flocking to leave)

In short, Mourinho maintains their club reputation, and potentially enhances it.
