So Barca got to add Braithwaite from Leganes outside the window because they had injuries. Meanwhile Leganes- in relegation trouble- lose their top scorer but ARENT allowed to replace him.

That's just ####ed up.
I'm sure there's an explanation for this somewhere, but I've not seen it.  Never heard of this before reading about this exception being granted earlier this month.  Can they just add him to the roster for La Liga and CL now?  If so, couldn't they have promoted a youth player or a Barca B player instead of taking another team's player?

Doesn't explain it, but it appears the rule is for players out injured more than 6 months.

Seems like a terrible rule for exactly this reason. And I agree- get rid of the rule and make teams rely on their depth or youth. This just punished the other team.

My new office signed up for a rec league...and auto-included me. Ran it by the boss (wife) who very grudgingly allowed it.

There's a Greek and an Italian dude both over 50 who can play. The rest, no idea. And we'll probably be playing against 20-sometgimg chuckleheads.
Rule #1, no slide tackling .... everyone has to go to work tomorrow.

Looks like Rossi to RSL is completed.

I hope he can stay healthy and have fun playing, the traitorous no good so and so
I wonder if the good people of Iceland feel the same way about Bacon as we do about Rossi.

Like, they're not HAPPY that injuries ruined his career, but they're not exactly SAD either....

A very very rare league game in prime time on an OTA network will happen tomorrow when Nashville's hosts their opener against Atlanta on Fox.

Sounds like it should be an excellent crowd as they broke 50k a few days ago.

Yep gonna be watching that one. Hope Nashville can pull out a surprise. My two favorite teams are OCSC and who ever is playing Atlanta.

Orlando's game is sold out too should be a great atmosphere. I'm being optimistic again this year only to get crushed again probably. Both Nani and Dom out so probably going to be tough going. Hopeing for the best though.

one negative to the league continuing to expand is that every year the amount of fans who are disappointed in their team grows.

All the experts have us finishing at the bottom again. Some are even saying we will finish behind Cinncinati. With our new coach I just don't believe the experts are correct.

Don’t think most of them would really pin him as a difference maker for their national team. Even when healthy.

It's a written rule in the league for sure.

That's even an unwritten rule for pick up.
When I played in a lawyer’s league, some M&A dudebro came in and creamed one our female paralegals.

I say, “Jesus, lighten up there man.” And he then looks at me and says “I don’t know another way to play!”

To which I replied “Don’t you know any non-#######s who could teach you?”

Dude totally messed up his knee trying to go in again about five minutes later.

I think he would have been very very useful for the US if he had stayed healthy. Solid range of skills from deuce shenanigans, to wondo fox in the box, and I'm sure could've mustered some zardoz face shots as well.

Really curious to see what happens with ATL this year with the player turnover they've had. On the flip side..more time with the coach to implement his approach.

One big improvement so far is Pity.  He has looked VERY good in the two CCL games, better than I remember him at any time last year.

Also, about a million rumors came out last week that said that Jurgen Damm is going to be joining them from Tigres this summer.  He should provide an adequate replacement for Gressel.

I must be reading this wrong because I think this looks fantastic for the sport and FIFA rarely does anything to help the offensive side of the game.  Infantino is in support of this and will be discussed soon.

This looks to me like the entire body can be ahead of the defender as long as one foot is still level with the defender.  Am I correct?  That is going to be wonderful if I am reading it right....

=======

FIFA's chief of global football development Arsene Wenger said last week that the law should be changed so that a player is onside if any part of their body that can score a goal is behind or level with the relevant defender, a view which Infantino clearly shares.

The Athletic is reporting that MLS made an important roster rule change which continues to give the clubs more and more independence.

==========

Most significantly, the league decreased the cut of transfer fees it will take from clubs when they sell non-homegrown players to foreign clubs. Previously, the league took 25 percent of all transfer fees for non-homegrown players. Moving forward, the league will only take 5 percent of those fees.

Wow.

That's a lotta moneys.
Maybe the ease at which the CBA was signed really was a good indication of the financial health of the league.

The big hurdle is the next tv contract.  That will help determine if the league can keep growing or not.  I still think it is moving too fast finances wise but maybe things are better than I realize.

If the league can secure the contract it wants and the miracle happens to get NE and NY into their own stadiums, the league could really grow nicely in the next decade.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Just wait.

Inter Miami is an actual team now!

When did that happen? Never thought I'd live to see the day...

Interesting news that out of no where Daniel Sturridge terminated his contract with Trabzonspor making he available to anyone on a free.

Ignoring what I am sure is a ton of red tape rules, Atlanta could do a lot worse than plug him in for Martinez who is lost for the season with his ACL injury.

With Studgie coming to MLS, the only two white whales remaining for me are Balotelli and Big Sam. Although I’m not sure I’ll ever lose the regret that we didn’t get Berbatov.

Thought I would expand on this here instead of the game day:  Pogba, IF he comes back, does he get in the team?

A month ago I was saying yes he does.  Even on his worst days hes better then Lingard and Pereira.  Was hoping he'd move into the 10 spot with McT and Fred behind him.  But Bruno has come in and done everything United fans wanted to see from Pogba.  So obviously Bruno has made the 10 his.

So who sits>
- Fred has worked himself into a good player and is getting better.  Kante type, hard worker, covers a lot of ground, improving his passing.  Does get pushed off the ball at times, but will fight for it and recovers well.
- McT also works well, gets in and scores, seems to be strong on the ball, tackles hard and passes well.  Formed a good partnership with Fred.  Behind Bruno and we have a good trio.
- Matic has been rejuvenated but his passing range is only good to his left.  Good positionally overall, probably the only true holding MF of the 4.

I am not sure McT or Fred can be a true holding MF that allows Pogba and Bruno to be free.  McT probably more then Fred.  On his best days, Pogba is United's best player.  But how often do you get Pogba's best? And if he is leaving in summer, what are you getting out of him?

Sell Lingard, Pereira, Jones, Sanchez, Smalling.  Heck, if you get your $$ back or more on Pogba, let him go too.  Just make sure you replace them.  Will need depth and competition for spots.

Still need a right sided winger (Don't think Sancho is going to United).  When Pogba leaves, I do like the idea of Graelish coming in since I do think hes an upgrade.  Let Fred/McT battle for the 3rd MF spot.

I do not think Ole's 4-4-2 diamond suits United.  To narrow and no true wingers.  4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 may be best with this group.

Boban spoke out against Gazidis and Elliot in Gazzete Dello Sport last week. Basically called them out for not knowing #### about soccer, not have veterans signed early in the season and accusing them of just using the club to make money and with a huge lack of communication involving all sides from the owners all the way down to Pioli the Manager. He said it in not so many blatant words. The biggest was the lack of communication as Boban/Madlini/Pioli are all on the same page where they go to Elliot/Gazidis who they thought agreed to something earlier and change their minds completely. The other main issue which we see now has a major impact thanks to Ibra being involved was lack of experience on the side. Gazidis/Elliot denied numerous opportunities for Maldini/Boban to sign experienced players to the club over the Sumer and Winter Transfer Windows. Gazidis literally wants Milan as Arsenal which we all know how well that worked out. A ton of support from Milan supporters with Hastags #GazidisOut and #ForzaBoban.

Ivan Gazidis terminated the contract with Zvonimir Boban. The official statement on this matter should appear in the coming hours. Paolo Maldini risks losing his job.

I don't think that rule comes from either FIFA or its more evil step brother UEFA.

I think that rule is entirely based in La Liga.
Thought this was one of those Fifa/UEFA rules or at least if the league makes a rule like this it has to be with in their guidelines with each league having some leeway on how to handle it.

If Juventus and France have shown anything, it’s that Pogba thrives with a complimentary technical player or two beside him. I think it would be criminal to not see how Pogba and Bruno could play together with a dedicated 6 behind them.

That is a good point.  The only dedicated 6 is Matic though.  I am curious to see how Pogba and Bruno play with either Matic/McT/Fred deeper.  And Pogba has played deeper at times too.

Pogba  Bruno
      Matic

or

      Bruno
Pogba  McT

Probably only @McBokononknows who Tyler Terens is but he has been doing the lords work for quite a few years calling lower league and CCL games.  Pretty much any game that he can get hired for, he calls, no matter how small the team or league.

Today the Chicago Fire announced their new broadcast team and they put together a really nice group.

Arlo White, Tony Meola and Tyler Terens.

Fire games are being broadcast on their biggest channel ever on WGN so it is really nice to see ownership step up and put together a quality broadcast team.

Good for him - totally deserved.   Although, I think he did 150% of the USL matches so I have no idea who I'll be listening to this year.

Copa Italia is between Milan/Juve tomorrow is now postponed after FIGC took suggestions from Italian Governing body. FIGC is looking to suspended possible all matches for 30 days do to the outbreak of the CoronaVirus in Italy that has over 2k cases and multiple deaths. Euro matches would be played behind closed doors. The Copa Italia final if the league suspends could be played in the San Siro as the Stadio Olmpico would be under UEFA owned by that time so the match would have to be played else where.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte wants public events – including sporting events – to be cancelled for 30 days to avoid large gatherings of crowds.
