Winsford United v Stockport Georgians
You're just making these up now.
It's a good job I'm not going to Plymouth Parkway v Swindon Supermarine then
Can't wait until Penistone Church plays Ramsbottom... One day.
Penistone Church is the choice of games today, oddly enough - flooding in much of South Yorkshire has scuppered my plan of Worksop Town, so going to a backup plan this afternoon before Man U murder us this evening

oh my

Looks like that was out at the Great Park, it is next to where OCSC plays in the USL. Tons of both grass and turf fields, its a huge complex.

Not to mention I don't think that would have made the top 10 worst fights I remember from that age group. It was on network TV news! Make Soccer Violent Again!

Yeah, once you into these casual men's leagues, all kinds of wacky stuff goes down.

i recall 20 years ago playing indoor in some local league, fights all the time. Ha, I remember no one one ever called teams by their names, it was always who they were. 'We playing the Portuguese guys', and we always knew which teams were happy to throw down (psst--the Greek team)

The casual leagues... Like the ones at Chelsea piers or in the "urban professionals" leagues were the worst. Guys who played HS or maybe a little college soccer trying to play as if it was WC final. Always horror tackles. Always fights. The cosmopolitan semipro leagues I played in after college in NYC and SF were essentially fight free and treated more seriously.

Wasn't just Sunday leagues. Had a great knock down brawl with SDSU when I was in college. But yeah, Sunday leagues got nasty at times, esp in our 20s. As white boys the Mexican teams hated losing to us, I often came home with spike marks down my calf.

But we all knew it was coming, both teams played hard... wasn't news worthy.

Didn't watch the match, but have seen some real bitching about Kean's disallowed goal in the Juve match.

This is ridiculous

How can they be confident to within a centimeter on an offsides call when a human has to determine when the ball was actually released. Can't say I'm a big fan of using the tech to this degree. What say you?

Cagliari were losing 3-0 in the 71st minute. They won the game 4-3. First time in Serie A history a team came back from 3 to win after the 70th minute.

i talked about this last month and got some good advice in here, my kid and his girlfriend scored some nice tickets to the manchester derby today. He just texted me and said they are slamming some drinks because they bought a bunch for their seats and then found out they can’t have them pitch side :lmao: he then said they were $5 a drink and the supporter scarfs were only $10  i’m beyond jealous right now

I watched most of the match live. That call is horrendous; A literal shoelace offsides.

He had a second called back in the 1st half because of some insanely minor infraction he committed in the buildup a good 5+ (or more) seconds before the goal. I lived there briefly a long time ago and was shocked at the overt racism I routinely saw... Both on the streets and on the pitch. People of color never got calls from refs, had to do tw8ce as much on the field to get same results.

MyI know it's gotten better there, but it's hard not to think of all that when I see Kean get screwed (not the first time either .. but not as bad as this with goals called back)

some good foolish trolling tonight

Messi: “Erling deserved it very much too, he has won Premier League, Champions League while being the top scorer of everything. This award could have been yours today too…”.“I’m sure in the next years you will win it”.

Today is the last day for bids for hosting 2034 WC. In a shock Australia informed FIFA they have decided not to bid leaving Saudi Arabia as the only bidder.

This appears to guarantee another winter WC.

It also seems quite clear FIFA has likely made arrangements to assure Saudi is the only bidder. I can only imagine what Australia is getting out of the deal.

Watched a bit of the Botafogo game it was nuts. But team has nothing to blame but themselves. They were up 3-1 with 20 minutes left or so when the red came out. Marginal call. Oh, and then their best player missed a pk with the team up 3-1 with 10 minutes left.

Other tidbits of interest to me....probably alone.
Posted the other day about how miserable Lyon is this year (prior to their bus being attacked), but you know what's even crazier? Ajax is last place of the Eredivise. That's almost as unbelievable as Bayern Munich losing to a 3rd division team, or Man United losing a cup game to MK Dons.

Speaking of United, it's time to blow this team up. They have scored on premier league goal by a forward this year. ONE. I don't want to count their spend on forwards, but it's well over a quarter billion dollars.
Rashford (1)Martial (0)Antony (0)Sancho (0)Højlund (0)

I didn't watch their cup loss to Newcastle, but after watching their pitiful performance vs City, I think it's time to do something drastic.

There‘s maybe 3-4 players I would even want them to keep. Disaster.

I don't know if you've ever played Football Manager, but United is a real fun team to take on right now....

I am doing them as my first choice team in FM24 and after the 3rd summer the team has almost completely a new roster.

Rashford is the player that really sticks out like a sore thumb for me. After he came back from the WC last year, he put on a multi month run that made him look like a top 10 player in the world.

How does a guy go from scoring 30 goals in a year to having only 1 goal through the first quarter of the next year... It's uncanny. He's second in the EPL in shots attempted too.

Something is off with him for sure. He isn't running at defenders, he isn't dribbling well, he doesn't look like he's having fun.

Saw one theory that says his incredible form last season happened while he was with his steady GF. He's not with her now and going full player, enjoying the nightlife and single life.

I know it is very unlikely to end up happening but for the sake of discussion, would Ajax be the biggest team to get relegated in the last few decades (with out having a points reduction type penalty)?

I do not understand what has happened, what changed from how last year ended? The whole team has taken a step backwards. And there are too many things going wrong to point to anything that makes sense.

So many things going wrong...
Injuries, lack of leaders, team split between playing styles, Glazers, Howlers, Refs...
The Greenwood, Sancho and Antony situations...
Players having a poor start: Rashford, Casemiro, Mount
Is ETH the problem? (I hope not, and want him given time. 1.5 yrs is not enough, esp when you got a trophy, 2 finals and top 4 in year 1. Can't keep changing managers and starting over every couple years)

Kinda reminds me of Chelsea last season to be honest. Superstars underperforming. Media come down with hammers... Good manager that couldn't seem to make it all work.

As we saw with Chelsea firing Tuchel... it can always get worse.... especially if the core issues aren't the manager's fault.

ETH is a good manager. I hope Man United don't overreact here, but it's gonna be hard for ownership to not try and deflect blame.

And look at Poch, not doing much better there.

Sadly ETH's biggest source of pressure will be the media/fans pointing out Uni Emery's success at AV and Ange Postecoglou coming in to Spurs, losing Kane and still has them flying/competing.

I don't know but the vets he's brought in all seem like they are ready for retirement, borderline guys are just bad, just about every guy has regressed and there's a big lack of energy and "hustle" - at some point it HAS to be the manager. What is odd was he had them playing well - I think he's lost the locker room - not sure if it's due to the Sancho stuff or what. I can make an argument to get rid of everyone but Martinez, Rashford (based mostly on last season), Garnacho and Shaw.

ETH has to be firmly to blame - he is the one that made most of these transfers.
Antony I hated at Ajax and hated the signing. All he does he dive and try to draw fouls.
Onana I was not a fan of either - DDG is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Yes, he was poor with the ball at his feet, but I haven't seen Onana as a world beater out there. What he may gain with his footwork he loses in his inability to stop the ball which is the most basic function of the goalkeeper.
Casemiro's been fine, but he seems slow. Good thing we only have him under contract for another 2 1/2 years. He'd be fine with a high motor guy out there, not sure who that would be.
Mount has been basically a non-factor for every minute of every game I've seen.
Varane is out of favor now for Maguire?

Dalot, Hojlund, Bruno I'd keep.
I'd be hesitant to get rid of Rashford, but he's been poor. High character guy though.
What good does it do keeping Sancho around if he can't even train with the team ffs.
McTomminay you almost have to keep, he's outscored all of their forwards this year (as has Casemiro).

Has there ever been a more useless signing than Van de Beek? I'm not sure he's played a full 90 minutes total in the premier league for his $40M plus transfer.

You can put a starting lineup out there on paper that looks good to great. Yet they perform like ****. Don't know what it is, but it is.
