American soccer ladies and gentleman. The walking definition of dysfunction.

Decoder ring:
PSRA = Pro Soccer Referee Association (union)
PRO = Professional Referee Organization

Sources tell ESPN that PRO has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against PSRA executive board member Chris Penso saying he “unlawfully threatened and coerced potential replacement workers.”

The charges state that Penso’s threats included telling potential replacement workers “that performing officiating work during a lockout would negatively impact the officials’ eligibility for assignments to officiate college soccer matches.”

So yes, the charges and countercharges between the PSRA and PRO are piling up.

I love that Maguire scores the goal and then has the hand in the Fulham go ahead goal. ETH and too many of these players just aren’t good enough. Clean house (again).
I watch Fulham games because USmnt. I'm used to them presenting as a clear mid table team... Able to punch up at times or down.

Their game against AV last week was boys against men, and showed a clear example of one team being a clear tier above the other.

Otoh, today Fulham was that clear better team/tier, even if their own lack of ability kept them from scoring all the goals they should have.

United... There's no MF? And I was completely surprised at the end of the game when they showed Rashford. Had no idea he was even playing.

As someone who followed Liverpool from 1998 to 2016, and chose Liverpool partly because of the rivalry with the 90s bandwagoneers favorite United, I feel for the United fans. I didn't get to enjoy the dominant period before the fall, but it sucked to read, year after year, why things would finally turn around and buy into each new coach/purchase. At least Liverpool had some big cup success --2 FA Cups, a cup treble, a Champions League -- and a couple years where they were legit close to winning league.

And at the same time, this period of suckitude can't go on long enough to satisfy my schadenfreude. I still enjoy every loss and every lost year. At some point it will get very hard to attract and retain truly top talent. I hope the Glazers never sell.

Even during their recent win streak, United didn’t look dominant at all. They are a middle table looking club under ETH.

I talked about my goals for my club... The usmnt... Being that they impose themselves and dictate games- win or lose.

I had no idea what United was trying to do. Some solid players, who looked like they were trying hard and have the ability to put stuff together... But no direction and no MF presence.

United can't "clean house" until they get rid of ten Hag - he is responsible for many of the players there, and the club really just lack an identity right now. A few individual moments of brilliance, but nothing coherent.

I have to think Ratcliffe will want to put his stamp on the team this summer - beginning with a new manager, but not sure whether he goes for a Tuchel, or more of a long-term option.

They’ve looked lost for a while. Way too old and slow. They concede possession to just about every team they play and just hope to hit on the counter.

I meant get rid of him. He can’t even figure out Rashford playing up top is pointless.

How can you possibly keep a team from scoring on their own goal from a kickoff?

Even back then.. kick forward a foot in center circle and then bang it back to your own goal. Other team can't possibly get there in time to do anything about it.

Some gossip...

Davies (CAN) said to have reached an agreement with RM.

Zidane open to coaching again, in Italy. Juve being linked.

KDB doesn't want to go to Saudi, preferring a move to MLS. In his last year of current contract, and is 33.

Comedy game which came up in discussion in the pub, not sure why but it wouldn't surprise me if it's not been mentioned here before

Never heard this before!

Perfect concacaf.
I wish there were some video footage of one team trying to score in both goals simultaneously.
I think this is the only known short video clip online

Celtic trying to claw the Premiership championship back from Rangers who are trying to go wire-to-wire here...
Celtic up 6-0 at ht. 6 different goal scorers, don't see that often.
Rangers down 0-1 at HT to Kilmarnock

I do hope whoever it was that had tickets for the Man Utd game today wasn't too disappointed

BMav - and he’s almost always positive but that was dire to watch.
I mean... Even the US player was garbage. Sucks for that to be the Old Traff experience.

Fulham had also not won at Old Trafford in 20 years.... :sadbanana:
And they had not won an away game this season since MW1

The game was poor. The crowd outside of certain pockets and moments, was poor. But the Fulham fans in the corner were in full voice, the fans in the Stretford End was doing what they could. The excitement after the equalizer and the hope for a winner brought the crowd to life. But with most games, United waits until the end to play and the crowd is no where to be found.

But the experience of being there was unbelievable. The hoards of people walking and arriving at the game (both at OT and the Emirates) was amazing. And started 4-5 hours before. No parking lots just trains, trolleys and walking. I can't describe how cool the stadiums and match days are.

We were also at the Emirates to watch the Arsenal women crush the United women. Record crowd for a woman's game for Arsenal, 60K fans. Also amazing.

One of the days we did some train hoping around London. Got to walk around the stadiums for Chelsea, Fulham, West Ham, Tottenham and also went to Wembley. Fulham you wouldn't know there was a stadium there. Freakin Awesome. Also went to Wrexham, had a drink in the pub and saw their stadium. The new end seats is the "Fourth Wall".

Checked out Richmond and had a drink at the pub in Ted Lasso. Didn't get over to see the stadium they used for training or Palace's stadium.

I highly recommend going to a game if you can.

Well if you got off the train at Crystal Palace, that'd explain it given they play nowhere near there

Yes, where they filmed the alley to Ted's apt, the street outside, the park, the Pub and the phone booths is in Richmond. Neither stadium is in Richmond.

BREAKING: U.S. Soccer have announced the format of the 2023-24 U.S. Open Cup, confirming that only 8 of a possible 26 MLS teams will have their first teams participate. Those clubs: Atlanta United, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo, LAFC, RSL, San Jose, Seattle Sounders, Sporting KC.

Bayern drop points again today giving up a 2-1 lead very late in the game, to draw.

If Leverkusen win on Sunday, they will open up a 10 point lead with 10 games to go.

It is very early in the MLS season. Most teams have only played 2 games. A few have played only 1 and a few have played 3.

All 29 teams have already dropped points on the season.

Reports are Charlotte is signing RW Liel Abada in a young DP slot from Celtic. He plays for the Israeli national and it seems like Celtic supporters have been giving him a hard time over the war in Gaza. Fills a big hole in the roster for Charlotte after losing Swiderski and Jozwiak

The crazier thing to me is they still have yet to lose.

And it's not fluky. Their +43 GD is legit. Teams don't score against them. And 59 goals scored is top notch.
Another win today.

10 points clear with 10 games to go.

It's still weird to see how helpless United is against top teams. I know they're in 6th or whatever, but they looked utterly out of ideas and couldn't hold the ball to save their lives at City.

I noticed one, what I think, oddity in the table.

I have to assume it is not very common for the teams in 6th and 7th in the league at this late in the season would have negative goal differentials.

If Hamburg choke promotion back to the Bundesliga again by doing dumb stuff like losing at home to bottom of the table VfL Osnabrück, it will be funny

City 41%-33% Liverpool (25% draw) next week at Anfield.

City is the better team, but at Anfield? I like the Liverpool win (~2/1).

------------Diaz -- Nunez -- Salah
---------Macca -- Endo -- Szobozslai
Robertson -- VvD -- Konate -- Gomez
-------------------Kelleher

Kelleher and Gomez aren't Ali and Trent, but that's the best lineup they've fielded in a month if they can get Salah back. LFG!

Crap organizations change managers every couple years and this cycle never breaks. He led them to a trophy and a 3rd place finish in his first year. His second year has been marred with injuries. Yes he has a lot to answer for some of the players brought in and his in game management. Questions can be asked why the team is so inconsistent and lacking in several areas.

But he also has his hands tied by the following:
- a lack of depth and players starting who should be on the bench,
- a lot of dead weight players that should not have remained at the club being kept and even extended instead of sold
-being part way through a massive overhaul and having to rely players brought in by 4 different managers with 4 different systems
-A crap ownership group with no direction or urgency or structure.
-Underperforming players who seem to have outlasted several managers.

I can understand why fans want him out. I can also understand why he should get more time. IF (BIG IF) Ratcliff and Ineos are putting in a proper structure, and providing the right support from above, I would like to see him get more time.

Honestly, I’m almost more amazed at people suggesting he deserves more time than that list. It’s painfully obvious he is in over his head.

We could go round and round on this, but my position is simple. Look at the list Andy posted - the guy just hasn't been good enough and there's no indication that he will be. It would be different if he was getting decent results. They aren't AND look like a mid-table club at best almost every match. He has one of the most expensive sides in the world and can't get any kind of performance out of them - not to mention all the issues he's had with individual players.

Ligue 1 will no longer be called ‘Uber Eats Ligue 1’. 🚗

McDonald’s has bought the naming rights for €20m-a-season, so from next year the Championship will be called ‘Ligue 1 McDonald’s’.
