Ray Hudson has announced his retirement.

If FIFA/Barcelona puts Messi in what ever hall of fame some day, I hope they include a loop of highlights with Hudson's color commentary with him.

Forgot how much he would reference Jessica Rabbit. Really was great to have him on La Liga matches, he loves the game.

Some have claimed it was schtick but it really came from a place of complete love as you stated

This happened a few days ago but I found it quite funny.

Peter Crouch has a podcast where he and the other talkers do predictions.

Crouch came in last place.

As the penalty for coming in last place, he had to walk out as a mascot (one of the kids holding hands with the players) at Farnham Town (a team in the 7th or 8th division in England)

His size made it :lmao:

Just the 5 goals and 2 assists for Haaland yesterday.
And they had a PK where he deferred to a teammate, could have genuinely been a 6 goal game.

And I saw there were some WC tickets for sale on the secondary market. $2,000 - $3,000 per ticket for upper upper levels for games without teams assigned yet.
Holy moly. I figure this will be my best opportunity to afford to see a game, but ffs, going to drop $7-8K for tickets/parking/etc... is going to be really hard to swallow.

These include hospitality. Pretty sure they've been out for weeks?

Yes - I copied a tweet and it looks like these prices are for the hospitality packages. I’m in the waiting room for regular tickets it have to go to a meeting shortly.
I could talk myself into one of those venue packages but probably not anyone else

The drawing for the regular tickets does not go until 9/29, but you need to throw your name in the old proverbial hopper.

Do I have to do that today?... I'm in this now. Does this go live live on the 29th (so I'm 19 days early), or do I have to be here to first get to the 29th?

Thank you for waiting to enter the Visa Presale Draw for the FIFA World Cup 26™. When you are closer to your entry time, a countdown will appear before you can enter the Visa Presale Draw. Please note: In order to enter the draw, you must be the cardholder (primary or secondary) in good standing of a valid, unexpired Visa debit card, credit card, or reloadable prepaid card enabled with 3D Secure.

Crouch and betting always brings the funny.

9' tall mascot doing the robot out there would be all-time.

Was there any resolution to the Man City rule breaking inquest?

OFFICIAL: Chelsea have been charged with 74 breaches of the FA’s Agent Regulation rules between 2009 and 2022 under Roman Abramovich.Breaches relate primarily to the period 2010/11-2015/16. Chelsea have until 19 September to answer.
10 point deduction for Everton!

Oh actually, nothing that I've seen yet. But now they can sweep it under the rug while they go after Chelsea.

Man City and the PL recently resolved the proceeding City started regarding APT rules, with both sides issuing an identical generic settlement statement indicating the matter is resolved and closed. The 100+ charges thing everyone was so excited about drags on with no real idea when a decision might come out as far as I'm aware. I don't expect anything significant to come from that. A large part of those charges also involve associated party transactions and my expectation is that stuff was probably addressed in the related settlement, but that's pure speculation.

The Chelsea thing has been known for some time. Its Abramovic-era stuff that the new owners self-reported after they took over the club. Involves agent payments and similar stuff. I guess it is somewhat of a surprise it has proceeded to formal charges so maybe that indicates some level of disagreement or ongoing negotiation, but the strong expectation has been that it will be resolved with a financial penalty but no sporting sanctions.

Azerbaijan in the CL fun! The Benfica v Qarabag match was insane. One of the starters for Qarabag did not even have a jersey with his team’s sponser on it.

Also, where are all of the soccer threads?

Buying tickets on the secondary market right after they go on sale is how one pays the highest price possible. Some games will be going for a 10th of that.

Get on a few of the ticket apps, and keep an eye on them. The scalpers have all the tickets, and dump a bunch day before for short money.

The online ticket game in the US is so broken, it's now fixed

The FA can't really do too much to Chelsea or they risk keeping other clubs from self reporting and cooperating in the future. If Chelsea's penalty ends up being larger than Man City's, for example, why would any football club ever help an FA investigation in the future?

A player in the Russian Premier League was sent off for a red card. While leaving the field he threw his jersey to fan.

After he left the field to go to the lockeroom, VAR intervened and rescinded the red card.

When the player came back out he did not have a jersey to wear and asked for the fan to throw it back to him which the fan did.

:)

I saw the video. Always fun with VAR right?

Looks like he met up with the kid after the fact and got him a new signed shirt.

United are still miles away from competing for anything other than a just a European spot but it’s not been all bad. 4 of the 5 matches have been against Arsenal (where they deserved a point), City, Chelsea and a solid Fulham at Craven Cottage. The problem is still too much dead weight (I’m looking at you Casemiro and Shaw), an incredibly weak midfield and GK.

It probably serves them well to have one of the shortest fixture lists they’ve had in 20 years.

I definitely agree here. 7 points from 5 matches having gone through 3 of the 4 title challengers. Like you said they deserved points from the Arsenal match. Probably should have beat Fulham. add 3-5 points and they are 10 points from 15 avail and its a different discussion.

For the bolded they could really have used this to cut a lot of the dead weight (Casemiro, Shaw, Dalot, Onana) and those sales that could set up FFP/PSR for next summer.

The only problem with the light fixture list is Mainoo being out in the cold and some of the younger guys like Heaven, Leon, Fredrickson not getting development time. Was disappointed with Cunha out that Bruno didn't move up and Mainoo given the starts. If this is Bruno's last dance (and selling him next summer will also help PSR/FFP), they need to make sure Mainoo is happy and ready for it. Their focus should be on getting Mainoo a partner in the CM. Maybe Collyer after his loan spell? And improve the depth, competition for spots...

There is some potential there to make some noise though. Not a title challenge, but maybe FA Cup? Serve Sesko and make better decisions in front of goal. Same song new group, I know.
Also Amorim needs to sit players not performing. Bruno sucks for 2 games, Mainoo gets a shot.

Interesting stats I saw posted last night, United in the EPL this season:

Most Shots (79)
Most chances created (60)
Most expected goals (9.7)

Now if they can start converting those to goals, things would look a lot better...

Still detest him. he's a clown.

I miss those weird field level boxes that Goodison Park had along the far touchline. They made Everton games instantly recognizable. I'm sure the new stadium has a more comfortable fan experience but the grounds come across as very generic on TV.

If you want to recreate the Goodison away experience on your TV, simply get some duct tape and put a couple of large vertical strips of it on the screen

Not been too well of late, haven't got to a game since August, which at least for United games has been a blessing. Thought I might be good enough to get to my local team yesterday, but problem said no, win 4-0 obviously

Farnham update - their chairman was on the Price of Football podcast this Friday, very interesting listen. They play Sutton United on Saturday at home for what I believe would be their first appearance in the first round proper of the Cup
