***Official "Space Blanket" for Better Call Saul*** (3 Viewers)

A little slower, but still a good episode.

Thought it was out of place for Jimmy to say "You believe me, right?" to Kim there.  It wasn't really called for, and I didn't detect any sense of disbelief on her face (although I clearly could've missed something).
Kim is Jimmy's sexual doppelganger for Chuck, like someone who picks a mate just like their mom or dad. The greatest value for Jimmy in each relationship is that they always bust him. He makes sure of it - that his "most significant" both gives him a little rope and yanks it hard when it's time. Vince Gilligan's key to our avidly tuning in to his shows is his belief that the humans worth caring about are good-hearted folk who can't stay out of the way of their mental processes so they end up accidentally or intentionally sabotaging themselves. Y'know, like us.

When Chuck is conning the Psychiatrist she says he should modulate his expectations.  She meant moderate.  That bothered me.

Jimmy and Kim both know it is over but neither wants to have the conversation.

Howard still wants to do Kim even while being pissed at her.

Hector sees and hears everything.  He knows Nacho goofed around with the pills.

The In House Counsel for the Bank is worthless.

Waiting to see if Jimmy established an ongoing relationship with the drug dealer he got off of community service.

Mike sure has a lot of vehicles.
Howard's the kinda guy who won't stop grabbing the back of girls heads in the clenches.

A little confused about the shrink - i thought she was the attending medical resident when he went to the hospital.

good ep, though

This show, and BB sure like twins.  We had the cousins on BB, the slip and fall skateboarders on this show, the music store guys, and of course the chest on the wife of the embezzler, what was her name?

Not sure why you think this.  If anything I think the cook may have spotted it.  Why not just wait until he goes to the bathroom?

Is Mike concerned about the family of the bystander because he got him killed and the black ladies story or is there something deeper more nefarious at play here?

So that band-aid tin was in Gene's memorabilia box from the very first scene of the pilot episode - that was a neat call back.  Also, everyone saw Jane in the grocery store, right?

Jane was the one who gave Chuck directions?  Didn't recognize her until your post.

I think, that moment lying on his back in the sun, after earning $700 in sixty seconds, was the moment he really realized how profitable it would be to be a criminal lawyer.
Conveniently enough $700 is the same amount he earned per case as a public defender (or whatever the hell he was in season one)

I kinda feel sorry for Howard. He can be a condescending ##### and he's brought a decent portion of this on himself by coddling Chuck, but he's caught up in a damned mess that's not nearly all of his making (a lot of it is Chuck's fault). And - like everyone else on this show - he's done a lot of good things too.

I'm not familiar with the actor who plays Nacho, but he is excellent. Hope he gets some larger roles going forward.

That handshake between Mike & Gus at the end was chilling to me as a Breaking Bad watcher. I don't think either realizes what he just set in motion.

I don't. Seems obvious to me that the firm was established by his dad and Chuck. He's a partner for no other reason than nepotism. If he were a lawyer anywhere else, he'd be less than average. But he does act like he's better than he is.

I understand that, hence my qualifiers. But he's not the complete ####### he was originally made out to be. I've enjoyed seeing Kim bust him out, though.

The folks at The Ringer are saying that Mike should be star of something. He'd be a natural for a reboot of The Equalizer (premise of the TV show, edge of the movie). How do you see him?

I can't stand the "in name only" reboots, but.......

Phil Esterhaus (sp?) on Hill Street Blues. You know he's still tough, but he doesn't have to prove it.

I think he'd make great contemporary version of Archie Bunker in a reboot of All in the Family. Without the bigotry this time of course.

I agree, he's been terrific.

I also think this story thread has been great writing, take a bad guy and show him as sympathetic good guy, he's a son going all out, even to the point of risking his life, to save his dad. Love that, great writing.

I really don't think he could carry an entire show by himself.  90% of his scenes don't even have dialogue, it's just him in the desert digging, him in the junkyard taking apart a car, him in his car watching, etc...  He's awesome in the context of this show, but I don't think he's the type to be the headliner.

Kim's check to Howard was dated March 4, 2003.  How close is that date to the start of Breaking Bad?
The timeline in Breaking Bad is a little messed up, but the story starts in 2008 with Walter's 50th birthday.  Later in the show they mess up and show his birthday in 1959, but season 1 is happening in 2008

As a dead mackerel eyed MFer

Jimmy laying on the ground with his hands behind his head was ####### disgusting.  He just handled a random dirty diaper and god knows what else with those gloves.  And now they're touching his hair?  There aren't enough wet wipes in the world to clean that.

Run fast, Kim. :X

I heard that Jonathan Banks was in pretty poor health, so a starring role in a series seems unlikely.

Too bad as he's great in BB and BCS.

You go back 100 pages or so I said I'd be happier with "better call Mike".  He's the best character on either show IMHO.

I'm kind of hoping this series only lasts one more season. I kind of feel like that's what they need to tell the story completely.  Barring an unforeseen changes, the storylines basically just need to wrap up Jimmy / Kim, Nacho, and how Mike / Gus go from just the tip to full on gang banging the Southwest.

Unless we start seeing a lot of post-BB Saul, those stories shouldn't take long.

There's no reason to show post-BB Saul at Cinnabon at the beginning of each season if they don't intend to do something with it.  There will probably be a new pre-BB story arc once Jimmy completely becomes Saul, then some sort of transition into the BB timeline, then the post BB stuff.

Unless it's a subtle reminder of where he ends up

I think we get 5 years of it. Next season will wrap up pre-BB and then a season of post.
I'm good with this, I just don't want to string out 3 more seasons of prequel story. We know where we're at, we know where we're going, let's get there.

I hung out with him for a minute at an event in Malibu, and even though he's an awesome guy, he looks even older in real life than on TV. I can't imagine he'd be doing anything where any kind of action is involved.
