***Official "Space Blanket" for Better Call Saul*** (1 Viewer)

I want the dude they had from "sons afterwards" or whatever the SO.A. Equivalent was.

That guy was spectacularly awful.

no mention of Giancarlo Esposito working on better call saul in IMDb
really wish you wouldn't do this
Yeah, I was looking at Odenirk's page on IMDB yesterday. It showed links to the five episodes that have aired. Below those was a link for "show all 23 episodes." I did not want to click on it and risk any spoilers whatsoever.

On a related note, I understand a lot of you guys trying to predict what's going to happen. To that, I say this:

You probably can't outsmart Gilligan and Co.

And, why not not just enjoy the show as it unfolds.

It's weird, but, different people enjoy things differently.

How long until we see Chris Hardwick hosting " Talking Saul"?

Season 2?
Can someone explain to an oldtimer what/where's the joy in fanboy atomiization of TV series and such? Love this brand as much as any'all but am mystified by the zotz so many seem to get from particlizing every fiber of cultural phenomena.

21st century version of geeks sitting around a bar b.s.ing about the x-files with tinfoil hats on.

ETA: admittedly, I think it's pretty weird to do it with a show like this. Shows like the X-Files and LOST invite this kind of thing. Saul? I don't know. But to each their own.

Don't get that either. Going back to Trekkies, its all fanboy to me and i'm grokless. Not judging - would like to understand the pleasure in it.

That's not weird. It's normal.

OK, I'll give it a shot:

Mike was formerly "Charles Skinner," and he was the mayor of Philadelphia. He was discovered to be running a pederasty ring where he and his cronies would kidnap, enslave and abuse young boys.

An intrepid reporter discovered this malfeasance and was about to break the story when he mysteriously lost control of his car and slammed into a mature oak tree at 80 mph.

Not wanting to take any chances -- just in case the reporter had shared his evidence with someone -- Skinner faked his own death (sudden heart attack).

He then underwent a face transplant and moved to Albuquerque to work as a parking garage attendant.

I love that that question just got asked on a fantasy football message board topic devoted to the show.
Not sure i see the connection except for the minutia aspect. Got into fantasy sports to make dough, but love the rare chance to use analysis of past human behavior to predict future human behavior. Don't see any of that here.

Sarcasm is an art.

Sarcasm can be hard to detect in the written word.

But I picked up on yours.

Forums are mostly for people to spew their opinions. I offered one of mine. I didn't think it merited response, sarcastic or otherwise, but you did, and that's cool.

To me, it doesn't look at all like Mike is part of anything bigger at this point. It really seems like the booth job is it.

My only pieces of evidence: Mike sitting at home, watching TV, and a shadow crosses his window. Mike mutes the TV, which Mike from BB would never do, because that just alerts the approaching unknown person that he's been spotted. Second, Mike picks up a baseball bat, not a gun, to approach the door.

Mike from BB would never be caught with just a bat in his hand if he was part of some larger action. When he did all the killing for Walt and Gus, he was efficient, nearly ninja-like, catching people off guard and one step ahead. He approached one guy in his home the same way he was approached at the end of this episode, and got the drop on him with the peephole trick. I don't see that Mike, who knows of such tricks, in this time period being so easily caught with just a bat in his hand having given up the element of surprise by muting the TV. Unless he's really "out" of more sinister dealings and has no reason to suspect that any person that sneaks up to his door could be dealt with by use of just a baseball bat.

This "Better Call Saul" Mike doesn't suspect anyone could come at him with a gun, thinks a baseball bat is sufficient personal defense, that says to me he's not behind the scenes running the show for a drug kingpin out of a parking lot booth.
Mike prob is not working for Gus at this point, but I believe he is working that booth for a reason other than the low wages (watching someone or a series of events some how related to the cause of death of his son?) -- Mike isn't a "people person", he could get plenty of jobs with equal pay with a lot less aggravation and interaction .....

....unless Vince thought that was the best way for Saul & Mike to have met ........

Maybe I'm missing something, but I thought it was pretty clear that from the last scene that Mike is hiding from the police (presumably in Philly) and that's all we know. The were very deliberate in showing how low key his life was...black and white job...no frills...he finally couldn't take it when his "cop instincts" took over and he helped Saul out...that was the first "signs of life" he showed.

You can also infer (maybe I'm reaching) that since the cops came to the door so soon after he helped Saul out that it was b/c of his refusal to help the cops...that they did a little digging

you grew up in an era when you needed to use your imagination to be entertained, and you were always daydreaming or playing outside or getting lost in cheesy movies/tv shows for what little entertainment was available.

the moderns have to have exact realism to be entertained and have a 4 second attention span

I'm still a little undecided on this show. I like it. I really do. I don't love it, and I just feel like I am liking it because I know Gilligan is going to come through with a great story. If Gilligan had nothing to do with this show, and if it wasn't related to Breaking Bad, I'm not so sure I'd be watching.

Do you guys who are loving it think you would still be loving it if Breaking Bad and Gilligan's name weren't associated with it?

I'd still enjoy it (it's well written, acted and has a nice mix of drama and comedy) - but it's possible I would never have started watching it in the first place.

Odenkirk is the attraction for me - it just happens to get even better after that.

This. The fact that it has the allure of being in the BB universe does ramo up the appeal, but I think mostly because we know Gilligan and company will deliver a solid show that is unlike any other.

to me its the perfect compliment to a great show like BB ...its like a delicious dessert after and awesome meal...but i agree ...its probably not nearly as good without BB being ahead of it...it makes it much better when someone like Tuco makes an appearance because i know how crazy that dude is .
