Steve Smith-WR- Panthers Nov. 18 - 8:47 am et

Steve Smith has reportedly been experiencing blood clotting in his leg.

Smith is listed as questionable with a shin injury and will be a game-time decision against Green Bay. He was unable to practice at all during the week. Drew Carter will start if Smith can't.

Any medical folks here that can give some insight on blood clotting in the leg? I can't imagine blood clotting anywhere would be conducive to high impact sports. Is this something that can sideline someone indefinitely?

John Clayton just said (during Sportscenter) that Smith is not yet on the field for warmups, but he does think he will play.

Bob Holtzman just said it is a GTD.
yeah, he mentioned that his pads were in his locker, which is typically a sign that a player will play.... but also said that Smith has not been on the field yet, and that that was odd as Smith is typically one of the first on the field for warmups.

Local beat writer says Smith will not start today.

GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- The Carolina Panthers have declared starting wide receiver Steve Smith inactive with a shin injury.

Drew Carter and Keary Colbert will start at wide receiver today for the Panthers against the Packers.

Smith did not practice all week due to a shin injury.

Terrible news for DeShaun Foster owners. He puts up pedestrian numbers when Steve Smith IS on the field, let alone without.

Looks like Fred Taylor or Joe Jurevicius for me. :goodposting:

So which CAR option will have the most upside? Colbert? King? Carter? - sorry, looks like that was answered already

Drew Carter is a sneaky start today.
I would say Jeff King...GB own WRs this year,TE's not so much...........
I think this is a downgrade for the Panthers running game as well, one more man in the box given the attention Smith demands.
Who is the better start today Drew Carter or Keary Colbert?
Drew Carter. Neither one is a good fanasy option but, with injury issues across the board for me, I have to choose between Carter or D-Jax. Now I'm definitely starting Carter. He's more talented than Colbert (and has better statistics despite the fact that he's been the WR3 while Colbert's been the starter all season). Then again, my grandmother runs better routes and gets better separation than Colbert so that's not saying much . . .
