I think I finally have my team set. I have gone through about 1000 changes.
LOL......ditto.I think I finally have my team set. I have gone through about 1000 changes.
I ended up 2nd in PDSL4 last year. My brilliant strategy was to take 2 kickers guaranteed not to have the same bye week (NYJ + NYG). Nugent and Tynes provided me with a combined season total of 8 pt.Yeah, I'm taking 3 kickers. How often are kickers injured?
Not being critical, but it seems risky to only use 20 players in a best ball format. All I can say is thank god tomorrow is the deadline - I think I just spent 2 weeks of my life on my lineup. Worth every minute though. Final lineup had 20 players -- quality over quantity. Can't wait for season to start!
Plus, I don't like the thought of having only one player scoring for me in a given week at a given position.I ended up 2nd in PDSL4 last year. Same here. I think I'm done although I may tweak my WRs one more time... can't find a mix that I really like.I think I finally have my team set. I have gone through about 1000 changes.
interesting plan. I remember liking more $1 players last year. This year aside from K/D, I only have 1 $1 player.I also have a basic team of 18 players. picked up 5 guys from the 1.00 bargain bin to bring me up to 23.
Im going with a very risky top heavy team.
I like your strategy but don't have the guts to do it myself.this s my finial change but i will have to make myself stay away from the computer till midnight, it is like crackQB - Tom Brady - NE/8 - $37QB - Mark Sanchez - NYJ/9 - $9RB - Frank Gore - SF/6 - $43RB - LaDainian Tomlinson - SD/5 - $40RB - Ray Rice - BAL/7 - $21RB - Willie Parker - PIT/8 - $16RB - James Davis - CLE/9 - $2WR - Marques Colston - NO/5 - $28WR - Josh Morgan - SF/6 - $15WR - Chris Henry - CIN/8 - $12WR - Derrick Mason - BAL/7 - $9WR - Jeremy Maclin - PHI/4 - $4WR - Andre Davis - HOU/10 - $2WR - Laurent Robinson - STL/9 - $2TE - Desmond Clark - CHI/5 - $5TE - Daniel Graham - DEN/7 - $1PK - Jay Feely - NYJ/9 - $1PK - Shaun Suisham - WAS/8 - $1TD - Cincinnati Bengals - CIN/8 - $1TD - New Orleans Saints - NO/5 - $1Total value: 250
I'm pretty close to you. I went with higher end WRs and lesser TEs but our numbers are pretty similar. 24 players for $250QB 3 $43RB 6 $70WR 6 $103TE 3 $15K 3 $6D 3 $13jaxfan8 said:here is my breakdown 24 players $250QB 3 $49RB 5 $72WR 7 $91TE 3 $26K 3 $4D 3 $8i to have changed a 1000 times i'm hoping to stick with this one
Considering 3 start, that is a bad position to sacrifice, IMHO.Not tremendously happy with the WRs, but I think you have to sacrifice a little somewhere...

a fair point. I just looked at this the first time this AM...perhaps it will morphConsidering 3 start, that is a bad position to sacrifice, IMHO.Not tremendously happy with the WRs, but I think you have to sacrifice a little somewhere...
I don't have the balls to do it - but I would not be surprised to see the teams that finish in the top-10 have fewer than 24 players on the roster.I think to win - you have to take an all or nothing approach. Yes, you might be eliminated by this approach in week 5 - but if you make it through - and with this many entries, some high risk teams will make it through - you have a better chance of scoring big down the stretch when bye weeks are not an issue.jdoggydogg said:Not being critical, but it seems risky to only use 20 players in a best ball format. All I can say is thank god tomorrow is the deadline - I think I just spent 2 weeks of my life on my lineup. My last tweak got me to 21 players--first roster I've had over 20. My view is that while 24 players may be the best way to get deep into the contest, the best way to win is to have more guys who can put up huge weeks down the stretch, which means more expensive players and a smaller roster. I've been deep into the contest (week 12) a couple times and it only hurts worse to go out then. Might as well take a risk to try and win.I don't have the balls to do it - but I would not be surprised to see the teams that finish in the top-10 have fewer than 24 players on the roster.I think to win - you have to take an all or nothing approach. You aware of the above?bicycle_seat_sniffer said:PK - Josh Brown - STL/9 - $1PK - Sebastian Janikowski - OAK/9 - $1
Steve Slaton for $1 didn't seem to hurt, either.http://subscribers.footballguys.com/contest/2008/week-16.phpBiggest hint from last year's results is: get DeAngelo Williams for $15Anyone have a link to the winners from last year? I would like to check out their lineups.

I think it is like poker tournament strategy - if you play to cash, you will have 24 players - with risk evenly spread out. If you play to win, you put your eggs in one basket and you go all in with the best line-up possible - ignoring injury risks, potential bad games, etc.I think the difference in the two strategies will show up in the middle tier players - strategy 1 (24 players) will likely have several middle tier players - low downside/upside. Strategy 2 will likely have several "studs" and then several high risk/upside players at lower price points, with no middle tier safety nets.My last tweak got me to 21 players--first roster I've had over 20. Those are all good points. But while a small roster of expensive, explosive players is awesome to have in the final weeks of the contest, you need a lot of luck to get that far because the injury factor is a lot more dangerous on a small roster. If you look at last year's winners, they aren't just stocked with great players. They are stocked with great players that were lucky enough to stay healthy.I think it is like poker tournament strategy - if you play to cash, you will have 24 players - with risk evenly spread out. You do know there is a bye week. Taking a goose egg at QB is a huge risk, especially if it is very late in the season.I'm running a naked bootleg formation this year - only one QB on the roster. That which does kill me will make stronger is in full effect here.I'm a big believer in quantity in this year's contest too - lots of explosive talent in the bargain bin
Is this guy going to be worth owning this year? I'm thinking mainly in terms of FF, but somewhat for the purposes of the subscriber contest.WR - David Clowney - NYJ/9 - $2
I feel he is a bargain at $17. Seems to be healthy again, surrounded by talent at WR.Why is everyone taking hasselbeck?
get Warner, D-Will, Slaton, and Antonio Bryant on your team?People should look at the top 20 teams from last year before you turn in your team. Pretty telling information there.
