***Official Super Bowl XLII Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Congrats to all Giant fans on their team's victory. I'm a Patriot fan and have watched pro football for 40 +years and Steve Spagnoulo and Co. put together and executed one of the finest defensive game plans I've ever seen. of course Eli made plays when he had to.

One concern I've had, especially in the postseason, was the lack of the Patriot pass "D" to stop offenses.

Bottom line,..again it proves DEFENSE WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Congrats again to the Giants and fans....

How is that a catch?
Did that even get reviewed?
Yesno?
Wasn't reviewed because it was a clear catch
That's odd, because the replay I saw showed him taking a hand off the ball and the tip of it hitting the ground. The most important play in NFL history doesn't even merit a cursory look? The league should be ####### ashamed of themselves for that.
I also thought the tip of the ball touched the ground. Hopefully there will be a clear replay available online.

:goodposting: Great posting.

Wow. Just Wow. Best Super Bowl in the past 10 years. This is/was what we hope for when we watch an NFL game.Nice job Eli. Out of Peyton's shadow...
I dont think this was best super bowl in last 5 years... or last 10. Rams Pats, Titans Rams, Pats Panthers all better IMO.Eli did get job done.. wonder where you bandwagon E-COLI Giants fans are now? Probably same ones who bashed guy all season long and wanted to fire Coughlin. Posting on here... :goodposting:

:boxing: The only ones that thought that was not a catch are Patriot fans. I can't even believe people can come up with anyway to say that it wasn't a catch.

Doesn't matter if the ball was controlled before and throughout, which it was. What is your opinion as to whether there was interference on that play?

Hey guys, I HATE Bellicheck, but I don't think he realized there was more time on the clock. Half the crowd didn't either. He's a jerk in my opinion, but this was really no big deal.

It didn't hit the ground, though I could see it being reviewed. Didn't change the outcome given that it was a catch, so I'm not going to bother arguing about it.
Which catch is being discussed here?

I was assuming Tyree's after Manning's amazing scramble.

I hate belichick, but I totally agree with this post. Nothing to see here.

Thanks GOD it's finally over. Another day or two, and we here in Phoenix can have our local tv news back. Granted, it'll be the same ol' "Top Story" = "It rained 0.01inch today and traffic is a mess!", but all the hype and "news" about the celebrities at all the parties will be history. :goodposting:

I'm not an expert on the rules. He definitely had total control of the ball but it looked like the tip of the ball scraped the ground when he held it over his head. Is this still considered a catch even if it hits the ground?

Control and two feet and/or other body part, which he never had. I saw him moving around to secure the ball all the way to the ground. First one hand, then the other, then the tip hit the ground. Is interference reviewable? Was there a flag?
