***Official Survivor S29: San Juan Del Sur*** (1 Viewer)

You could probably argue that they were banking so hard on the repeat success of Blood v Water that they phoned it in on certain aspects of production..

I don't know, it's not a great season but with the way the game's gone it's definitely not the worst. I don't need a bunch of Russell and Phillip shtick out there to be entertained.

What are the most memorable things this season?

The survivors losing their flint and being given a new one, gorging themselves on rice and just getting a free refill.

John Rocker being a #####

The most men kissing men I have seen on tv.

I am pretty over blood versus water at this point. I originally thought it added a layer of strategy but I was waaaaay wrong. It has actually dumbed it down because people don't have to think as they already have natural allies.

The only thing that will redeem this season will the totally awesome flaming gay rant on Missy at final tribal. But then again that will probably be cancelled out by 5 minutes of dumb ### Jon talking about betrayal because he thought he was on Card Sharks instead of Survivor and is a clue less ####.

BvW really worked the first time.. part of that was the "all star" aspect I'm sure.. but great characters like Brad C didn't hurt

I bet they won't do it again for a while

Next season, instead of blood vs. water, lets do Bloods vs Crips.

Unfortunately, it would only last one episode but it'd be a good one.

:gang2: vs :gang1:

They really need to get away from the food rewards too. What the ####. It used to be you would see some cool national geographic #### and when people got a food reward it was a big deal because they had no food.

Now they are just giving away free bags of rice and every week the reward is food. I can't wait for next weeks riveting episode. Nothing is more exciting that watching people pretend to be starving and eating pizza.
I agree its gone way too soft on food.

I was glad to see Missy stay in the game with the potentially broken ankle, but I was disappointed they splinted it for her. The show went too soft.

I'm glad they at least attempted a pecking-order challenge, the classic "cut your opponent's ropes" trivia quiz. Of course, this bunch short-circuited it before the pecking order could be revealed. But I miss those challenges the most. My favorite was the tribal dinner, where the challenge winner assigns meals, ranging from bread & water for one tribe-mate up to surf & turf dinner for another.
I remember the first cut your opponent's ropes challenge way back when - and as I recall it was for immunity (!). And I was like "Man this is the worst episode ever - dang Sean doesn't even have a chance with this." But he was smart enough to say "This is how it's gonna go" and was able to get the bottom of that alliance to truly realize they were on the bottom. It turned it into possibly the best episode ever.

I think if it is an all girl final four and Baylor wins immunity, she has to vote out Natalie. If she doesn't she obviously doesn't deserve to win the game. I think Natalie will try to swing Baylor to vote out her mom so that Baylor will get

an easy vote (and Natalie will win). I think Baylor wants to vote out her mom to show how strategic she is.

If Keith gets to the final four, he needs to take Missy and Baylor to the finals to have a chance to win (Jaclyn or Keith is going out at 5)

Yeah this rash of people giving up their rewards is pretty unprecedented

They need to not allow the gifting of rewards and such. Where is the cut throat type game play? Not good for television at all.

You give up your reward, fine, the people that won it get more if there was more than one winner.

I'm fine with this season. But let's cool it on the hashtags already. #WinkWink #Blindside #SecretSummit #TiredSibling

I can't remember them, honestly, but there's like 5 an episode. Every show seems to be going this way, but Survivor is the biggest offender. #ByFar

I don't know that splinting it is "too soft" - I'm not sure if localized in-game treatments haven't been done before.

Jon screwed himself so badly with giving up that reward. Way overdid it. It's a dubious strategy to win jury votes in the first place and putting himself in a position where he was going to be with only 1 other person (and as Nat skillfully ensured it was one permanent ally) was a tremendous blunder. Totally sealed his fate.

Part of the fun was his sorta disdainful "enjoy your spa treatment" line to Keith. Almost as if he thought that would either score points or that he'd expect Keith to give up his earned reward just because Jon did.

Jon had things set perfectly if he had just left well enough alone and went on the reward with Keith and Missy.

MasterChef is the worst with the hashtags. I have no idea who the hell uses them and is tweeting instead of watching. It's awful.
Yup. They're another one. Although I still think Survivor is worse. They are definitely the top 2 offenders, though.

Just caught up on the Ponderosa videos. Most of these guys seem pretty cool, Alec notwithstanding.. something wrong with those siblings I'm guessing they're inbred

I always forget how many people in this country are Bible thumpers. Even the NYC gays are into it

Jeremy cracks me up, still super bitter

I was surprised at how he said he'd analyzed those 7 seasons.. I sure didn't see that in his play. For one thing not getting too comfortable is Survivor 101 ####. I think he'll be back but his personality will get the best of him again.

I just looked it up.

I was pleasantly surprised how well the Survivor ratings are holding up after this many seasons. Still a top 25 show.

What was even more surprising is that CBS owns Wednesday nights and that Survivor consistently wins it slot. The 8, 9, 10 line up of Survivor, criminal minds and Stalker is winning most weeks.

It would be nice if they went big budget a season to bring in some new eyes, that would extend it for a lot longer because it looks like they have a large die hard audience.

Are you threatened by Christians?
Lol no I'm just commenting, we didn't hear much of it on the island but at Ponderosa it's all anybody wants to talk about
I remember a bunch of seasons where they have prayer huddles and the such. Always seemed like uncomfortable TV.

I just don't know why at this point in the game Jon didn't take out the idol and secretly put it on the bench between him and Jac, so IF one of them got taken out, they could leave it for the other one.
Or why didn't he slip it to her before he stood up to leave TC. Once they went to the tie breaker vote, he should have pulled it out and did what you said so one of them would have it when the other left. Maybe there is a rule saying he can't do that or something?
I am almost sure there is a rule against this. If the idol is yours and you haven't given it to someone else before the votes are read, and you are voted off, it is worthless.
Why couldn't he give it to her before votes (the tie breaker votes) are read?
You guys are all missing the point that Jon is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Yeah, we must have been very spoiled by the last two seasons if we're suggesting this is the worst ever. The characters aren't particularly compelling, but at least it has been relatively unpredictable.

agree, there have been far worse players/seasons. every year people claim it's the worst season ever.

The most annoying thing this season is there is so much non-competing going on in challenges and giving away prizes to other people. Wish Jeremy woulda went further though as i think he was a pretty good player.

This is how I feel, but to me it is one of the worst seasons. When you feel indifferent towards everyone in the game, it's not too interesting. The only thing this season has going for it is that the alliances have all been unstable.

Regarding the prior post - you can only play a hidden idol before the first votes are read - not on tiebreakers.

No one was saying it can be played at the tiebreaker vote. Just slip it between him and Jacq while everyone else was voting and then whichever one of them survived the tiebreaker vote slip it under his/her shirt or something.

So I did a quick search and found a (crappy) image of the Immunity Idol rules. Not sure from what season, but seems pretty standard since they were introduced:

Immunity Idol Rules

Here's a transcript, I highlighted the pertinent rule.

The hidden immunity idol will keep you safe from being voted off at tribal council.

If you discover the idol, you may keep it a secret or tell others that you have it.

The immunity idol cannot be stolen from you.

You may give the immunity idol to someone else either at your camp or at tribal council.

If you intend to use the idol, you must reveal it or give it away to someone else after all of the votes have been cast, but before the votes are read.

Jeff will always give you the chance to present the idol just before the reading of the votes.

If you use the idol and you have the highest number of votes, the person with the second highest number of votes will be eliminated from the game.

The last time you can use the hidden immunity idol is when there are five survivors remaining in the game.
That said, I don't see anything specifically forbidding you from giving it away if you "don't intend to use it", but Survivor is the one that says how the rules are enforced.

Dumb move by Keith.. should have sent Natalie to exile.. most return drained and not ready for the next challenge. Might be his down fall :bye:

and Missy..really? After you blindsided Jon you give the death stare? :bye:

What the f is in Missy's shirt? It always looks like she has crumpled up tube socks stuffed down her top.
