I was at that game last night. It was surreal. You couldn't really watch the game because there was so much dust up in the air. A fly ball damn near hit me it was so close and I was so busy trying to get my hat back which had blown 5 rows away.

I can't really even tell you what had happened up to the point of the rain delay where we fled, quickly after looking at the weather on the way.

I'm reading that Josh slid head first three times in one inning last night. Any chance you caught that?? I admire his "gotta be true to the game and me as a player attitude", but don't be stupid. The weather was horrible up here in Keller, my car took a good beating until I could get it in the garage. I can only imagine how insane it was out there at The Temple.

We left during the delay. They hadn't even restarted the game by the time I went to bed. I think they finished the night to about 300 fans in total.

He did. Beat out an IF single and slid head-first into firstStolen 2nd, head-first slidePassed ball advanced him to third where he did it again. As an owner I was in a flat out panic watching him get up after each one.

Best news of the season:

John Rhadigan is OUT at TV play by play. He will move back to pre and post game shows for FSW. Dave Barnett will move into the TV role leaving radio and Steve Busby will move into that vacated radio role.

Good times.

Never thought Neftali would be the one blowing games. Hopefully he makes some changes. He has a very strange demeanor right now, almost as if he doesn't care. Very worrisome.

Agreed....and whatever it is that Wash and Maddux think they are good at with pitchers certainly ISN'T working with Feliz - you can just see the lack of confidence he has in himself out there on the mound......and obviously so can the hitters

Eventually throwing only 1 pitch was going to catch up to him, slightly encouraging because the second inning he pitched last night he finally started mixing in some of his offspeed stuff

I'm not sure he was ready to go this season and then they tried to work him as a starter and got him injured. I think it's as simple as that.

One of these days clubs are going to realize that there is more to a pitcher than just the arm - and when they try to make changes....or "look at" making changes in a pitcher's role and routine there are mental consequences that they don't know how to fix. How ready was Neftali to be the closer again when in spring training they stretched him out and had convinced him that dominant SP are more valuable than a closer? What really is baffling is that they went through all this when they had only ONE closer - Feliz and twelve candidates for the five rotation spots!

How common are biIsters with starting pitchers? This seems to be happening to us quite a bit. I know cj had one last year in the world series, Ogando missed a start this year. Of the roughly 150 starting pitchers in the league how many miss starts due to blisters?

Not all of the pitchers who have blisters miss starts with them, but a lot more have to deal with them than you would think......with today's medicine and chemical aids, you would think that this would not still be an issue - but it is

I have the feeling that SEA, OAK and LAAAAAAA are going to be kicking themselves for not taking better advantage of Josh, Nellie and others being out for so long.

humidity is a concern. D/FW has been very wet so far this year.

Nice performance by the Dutch Oven tonight. Those were absolute bombs by Hamilton and Cruz...what a difference having those guys back in the lineup.

Makes you wonder where this team would be w/l wide if Josh wouldn't have got hurt.
No telling. I still don't think they resign the guy. The payroll can't allow a huge contract for a 115 game player.
I'd rather have one amazing player for 115 games than a mediocre player for the full season.
Agreed. I dont think you can afford not to sign him.
They got the dude for 2/24 in the offseason. This isn't going to be his next contract rate. He still has to play out of his demons a bit more to get there. He's looking at 6/130 maybe next time out. Keep in mind the dude is not all that old. He's 6 years younger than Arod and showed up in the Majors much later than Arod ever did. He'll be looking to get paid on a per game basis on that level. It will be a huge test to the new ownership group whether they are willing to let the guy walk or not. At this point Kinsler is not going to stand in the way in 2012 as once thought, but 2B looks super thin down the line. Dude looks about done at this point. That will have to be addressed somewhere.

I'm exhausted from the Mavs run as well. These early starts are not helping me get back into things either. I get the feeling the AL West has a huge bag of nothing this year. The Astros 6 game sweep is coming up which (I think) nobody else gets to have in the AL West?? That alone should be enough buffer to get the pennant done. There are a lot of concerning signs. I don't see much in the way of movement in the minors that is going to have much impact this year, and the trade deadline situation is a little foggy. After seeing these last two games it certainly doesn't look like we are going to measure up to the first round opponent ny or bos in any meaningful way.

Nothing more frustrating for me right now than to read the daily Rangers Farm Report and see Chris Davis simply owning AAA pitching.

There needs to be a AAAA Hall of Fame/Shame. That would be a good list of nut kicks.

Davis like Robinson/KC (check out his numbers last season and this) NEED a change of organizations - in fact you can say that about a lot of the guys who become AAAA because one of the reasons is not being given a solid chance when they are ready (or a second) so they are not worrying that every 0fer will be a train ride back to the minors - add Brandon Wood and McPherson of the Angels to the list

Davis has actually had a decent time in the big league this year. Batting .269 right now. He will either be an important trade piece in the next month, or be called up to replace Murphy/Gentry if traded... Curious what the roster is going to look like in 2 months.

They are playing him in Left Field down in AAA.

Yep. 25 starts in AAA, not one at 1B. I wish he would get some time behind the plate as a catcher. Teagarden now batting .073 and there are actually trams that want to trade for him.

Wait, what? Really? What is the background for this?

Maybe 02-04 were this bad, but I have to feel for the Astros. They won't even get to 30 wins before the ASB and are well on their way to 100 losses.

To make it worse they have damn near nothing else to look forward to the next few years. They are lucky they have a downtown stadium with a dome.

I can't stand that park, but you are right.

It was a rumor that was floated in the off season, but nothing came of it. It might have started with Jamey Newberg, but unsure. I'm pretty sure it was discussed on here at one point. Anyway, I'm just saying I'd love to see that happen, doubt it will.Eta: not many left handed catchers though.

Major love for Moreland right now. Davis vs. Smoak for Ranger 1B of the future seems so long ago now.

Ever think you would look at Kinsler as the weak link in the infield, ever?

Yep, Jamey brought it up sometime last year. Funny thing is in the forums there, someone compared the possible move to when the Rangers tried Mike Lamb there.Good Ranger times.

In my advanced age I have learned to never trust a second baseman to have a shelf life of longer than 4 years. I mean if they had all the tools they wouldn't be at 2nd. And if you have all the tools you can lean on them later into your career. Ergo...guys there just don't have long peaks.Bull Durham was as right about that as candlesticks.
