Not sure Nathan is anything but a nibbler anymore.
Pardon my ignorance, but what is a nibbler in pitching terms? I am sure I will agree..just curious on the term. Thx.
Mainly the guy pitches for strikes on the corners. Cant just go big heat.Huge velocity drop off so far this year.

Makes sense. Interesting graph showing the decline for sure.

Bummed to see Tepesch go down like that. I love what we've seen from him so far. I hope he is OK.

Feels like that one was stolen last night, but a win is a win. You have to like the pitching matchups for the next two games. Get one more in LAAAA and take care of business in Minn. You hope they can just tread water until you get Lewis, Soria, Perez, Feliz, Harrison off the DL. That's almost like making a huge trade deadline deal without losing anyone.

I don't follow the offseason and minors as much as you guys..but how huge have Berkman and AJ been so far? Trying to picture what this thing would look like at the moment without those 2.

Kind of funny. Compare AJ and Berkman with Napoli and Young and numbers are really close this early.

Offense WAR

AJP (.6) + LB (.6) = 1.2

Nap (.4) + MY (.4) = 0.8

OPS+

AJP 129

Napoli 137

Berkman 168

Young 127

HR's

AJP 4

Napoli 4

Berkman 1

Young 1

Compare Hamilton production vs. Gentry+ Martin

The fact that Olt is not ready and Mimo is tanking really derails all the plans going into this season. Absolutely have to be looking at 1B acquisitions, and soon.

I'm a big fan of nicknames in general, but for some reason Mimo just gets under my skin. Might be the player-man.

It's going to suck to lose Cruz's bat for 50 games. He's hot right now. Love when he gets like this.

Yu is ridiculous. Really hope he can hold up in the heat this summer. We could be in for a special year from him.

I really like this team. No real superstar, just a bunch of guys that keep going to work everyday. Fun team. Reminds me a bit of how much fun the team was Elvis' rookie year.

Does anyone know what the new handsignal thing means this year? I liked the claw and antlers but the concept seems played at this point.

They make a point to keep the meanings under wraps. I still think the claw meant something dirty and they had to make stuff up for the public.

I think Cruz makes the season without incident. Maybe ends up serving something next year. Which means his new team has to worry about it.

I love Yu so much. That curve to Trout was insanely sexy.

The Ortiz experiment must be coming to a close

Murphy and Moreland are just black holes right now. Against lefties it's at least 8 outs, if not more from collateral damage.

I get the feeling as the better lineups come through this club in May the starting pitching will quiet down also.

Then you have the Cruz suspension hanging over this thing.

First time all season they lose more than one in a row. Still have yet to lose a series.

Texas' pitching staff enjoys a unique distinction. The season is only a month old, and the Rangers have the only Major League starting rotation that is entirely homegrown. There is not one member of Texas' rotation who has ever pitched a single game in the Major Leagues for another organization. No other team right now can say the same thing.

Having the lowest ERA in the Major Leagues as of Monday morning is another indication the Rangers can build a pitching staff from within. And as of Monday morning, Triple-A Round Rock led the Pacific Coast League in team ERA, the Double-A Frisco Roughriders were third in the Texas League and Class A Myrtle Beach was second in the Carolina League.

Nippon Ham Fighters are a bit of a stretch

Full article includes all the disclaimers. Forgot to link earlier.

Where does that fall on the dirty win spectrum?

Those wild pitches need to be put in the same machine as the 5 yus

For those of you with interest in Mike Olt. He is out with vision problems right now. So that might have explained his 0.139 average right now.

The lack of scoring is becoming a concern. Feels like a solid pitching performance wasted.

Side note, you know this isn't your father's Rangers team when they have two pitchers finish 1-2 in AL Rookie of the Month for April. Still hard to wrap my head around that.

Will Josh be surprised to hear that Napoli gets a warm welcome tonight?

And watch for me tonight. Pulling the trigger on some nice seats. :banned:

Look for me behind the Ranger dugout tonight.

2nd row. First base side.

Stu bringing some serious mojo to the little Rangers! :thanks:

Any TV screenshots from this? Appearance with Knoxie?
The fox sports southwest girls gave me a lapdance during the seventh inning stretch. Those are some good seats.

Angels and A's looking to get swept. A's would drop back to .500 and Angels would fall below the Astros in the standings.

Put it this way.

To get to 93 wins now they need to go 82-47 from here on out.

It was one-year yesterday that Josh had his 4-homer game. Here are his numbers since then, basically a season's worth of numbers (remember, his slump didn't really start last year until June):

Games - 154

ABs - 588

HR - 32

RBI - 102

0.245/0.313/0.469/0.783

K Rate - 30.7%

Enjoy Anaheim.
