***Official Texas Rangers 2013 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I am joining my wife in Seattle later this week and we are going to the Friday game at Safeco. Tix behind the visiting dugout can be had for a great price relative to other ballparks. I can't wait!

But I am guessing Darvish prolly misses the Friday start we were hoping to see?

I don't really know where I came down in that time period. I don't really want to know. Given my general pessimism there is some hope I didn't make too much of a fool of myself.

Man, I love watching Lance Berkman hit. Such a pro.
Yeah, the wife was furious when he signed with Texas as she hated him due to him owning the Rangers.

She has since changed her opinion of him.

BTW, it's awesome to have a wife whos fantascism with a sports team makes yours appear normal.

:goodposting: No reason to think his .480 BA won't hold up all year. :excited:

Guy runs like humpty dumpty but don't worry about that part.
:lmao:

Looks like he's playing slow pitch softball at this point. Just placing the ball into an open spot. 4 doubles already with that speed. :excited:
He looks like a softball player so it makes sense. The guy just does not look at all athletic. Great bat though and he's making me feel much better about my fantasy team since I missed out on the top 1B's and waited too long to draft one.

If he stays healthy the sky is the limit batting 3rd with Kinsler/Andrus getting on ahead of him. Not to mention his fly outs will become HR's at Arlington.

Grimm to throw Thursday. It's the Mariners. They just got smoked by the Astros so I figure it's not the worst plan ever.

Today's game to start at 3. Maybe.

If we win today I say just throw a scrub lineup out there tomorrow night and give some guys a day off with King Felix on the mound vs Grimm and the trip up to Seattle. Let Grimm, Lowe and Frasor pitch the game. Give Beltre and Kinsler and Murphy the day off.

Jurickson Profar's night wasn't exceptional in itself (walk, single in five trips) but continued his otherworldly ability to take pitches. Profar (.300/.500/.350) has drawn eight walks in six games, is averaging 4.7 pitches per appearance and letting 69% of pitches float by.
How does a 20 year old already have that kind of patience at the plate?

Is it good when you GIDP bases loaded on a 2-0 count with a pitcher that can't get close to the strike zone? I'm not sure.

He almost had a triple just now.

Almost.
:lmao: Yeah and I almost got laid when we went birddogging on 6th street at coshole.

That was right in front of where we sat at Safeco! As soon as he rounded second I was like oh Lance.

Fun experience at the park. This Texas boy froze my nuts off though.
Nice job sporting the Darvish gear down low. Did Seattle give you any grief or did they just offer you some coffee and flannel?

I am starting to panic about the lack of power in the lineup. Even the speed isn't bringing XBH. SLG is sub .400 now as a team and in last place in number of doubles.

Mimo and Murphy need to be upgraded. Both are <0 oWar and dWar after last week. Cruz is looking at missing 40 games and then what?
We need Josh Willingham. Not sure what kind of start he is off to, but I really hope we can trade for this guy. Need some RH power. Get a Willingham+Mornue deal, it won't be cheap, but that would help a lot in the middle of the order.

Still waiting patiently for Julio Borbon to go somewhere
Hearing this morning that Balt has interest. Trade deadline is in about 2 hours. I really hate to see him hit waivers and go for nothing, but I know they won't get much in return with a trade.

I've seen the same reports about Baltimore but I don't understand why they'd be interested. The Orioles have an excellent CF and two guys on the bench (Dickerson & McLouth) who could play the position in a pinch.

But I'm holding Borbon in a deep league in hopes he'll end up somewhere where he'll play more regularly.

Nice catch, Craig.

Jeff Baker, not so much.
Undermanaging by Ron there.
Up by four in the ninth, you have given Murphy the entire night off, I can't really blame Wash there. You don't expect Murphy is needed to save a game in the field. I #####ed and moaned last year about Wash running his starters into the ground. I can't complain about him resting a guy here.

Could you have stuck Martin in Baker's spot? That might be a different story.

BREAKING NEWS: No deal. Borbon officially on waivers.
He is a Cub now. I don't know enough about their OF situation to predict playing time, but it has to be more than what he would have gotten here.
Not an ideal situation for Borbon and the few people other than me who own him in fantasy. Someone is going to have to be traded or injured for Borbon to find significant run with the Cubs.

I think he just kind of wore out his welcome in Texas. It remains to be seen if Martin is really a better option but he is the new guy.

the rangers made up their mind that he was never going to be more than an average major league Cf in mid-2011. they have significant bonus money in Maritn so he going to get an extended chance. Bourbon can probably a better option in center field for a handful of teams.
