Played that one too.The Icewind Dale series should also play, and was very good as well.

Although the Cow is a bit of a tech snob, he is correct here. Most halfway decent games produced in the last couple years are going to watn a decent vid card.Onboard video anymore = have fun with Solitaire or Bejeweled.Seriously.MC, can you reccommend a game for those who don't have the fancy, schmancy computer setups (particulary of the D&D genre)? I have a fairly new system, about a year old, but I'm guessing that a game like this is out of my league since I just run onboard video.Of course, you COULD use this to make a character of someone else. I can imagine FBG's would enjoy playing Jenna Jameson in a game.Found this on a ES Oblivion forum elsewhere, pretty cool stuff.
By the way if you have a digital camera, some free time, and an urge to make your character look like yourself, go here:
http://www.facegen.com/
Download the demo software and get to work . It needs a front and profile pic to work, but it generates a 3D head. The cool thing about it is that since this is the company that made the face gen in Oblivion, the sliders match up with the ones in this program! You won't get a perfect match due to the skins in-game, but you CAN get a close head model
BG2 is available for $8 at gogamer.com right nowOn a serious note, onboard video MIGHT run Baldur's Gate 2. It is an older game but very nice. I have it to sell if you want it.
I had a laptop what only had 32 MB of video memory on the video card and I could play NWN with no problem. That is a pretty sweet game. A little too linear, but I enjoyed it. If you have more than 32 MB, Dungeon Siege 1 might work. The graphics blew but it was a really fun game. Of course Morrowind should work as well...MC, can you reccommend a game for those who don't have the fancy, schmancy computer setups (particulary of the D&D genre)? I proposed this a while back in its own thread and was guffawed at. I am game. We’ve thrown around the idea before but I’ve been giving it some more thought recently. How about a FBG game swap?
To eliminate endless bartering, I was thinking as a basic unit of currency to tie different games to different values we could use the following system:
1. A game has the “value” of its site review rating at gamespot.com (not user review). Games from 2006 would be worth 100% of that value. Games from 2005 would be worth 90% and games from 2002-2004 would be worth 75%. Games older than 2002 would be worth 50% - For instance Half Life 2 has a rating of 9.2 and is a 2004 game so has a modified value of 7.125 (9.2 * 75%) Oblivion would have its full value of 9.3.
2. Basically, if you want to participate you’d list what games you have that you are willing to trade like this:
a. The Warriors (PS2) 8.6/ 2005 = 7.74
b. Fallout (PC) 8.7 */1997 = 4.35
Of course, you can still refuse or accept an offer but this system would help at setting a baseline value. How far you want to deviate from that value is up to you.
Other ruels:
No $ involved.
If you have been shipped a game but not received one in return you’d post in the game swap thread and the welcher (just for you MC) would be blacklisted from participating until they upheld their part of the deal.
Shipping with tracking #s would be highly recommended. If something shows as delivered you’re off the hook. If you sent via mail with no tracking # and it was never received, that’s your problem.
What do people think? Is it worth it? Is this a good system? I figure you’ll get more value for your games then you would at the 2nd hand game store down the street.

I4 must be the geekiest fantasy league in the world.I'll sell you my video card GB, that will let me buy a new one. 9600 Pro will run all but the very latest games fine. I'm running Oblivion at the lowest settings but it's working fine.On that note, can you reccomend a fairly cheap video card to play some of the newer games? Budget's tight for that kind of stuff, so stress the 'fairly cheap' part....On a serious note, onboard video MIGHT run Baldur's Gate 2. It is an older game but very nice. I have it to sell if you want it.![]()
Gringo must cringe everytime he sees one of these posts.Anyway, drop me a PM with a price.....

Oh - I'd definitely start its own thread. I figured this was a good place to test the waters.I'd recommend it's own thread for the gameswap idea. You really don't want to gum up the Oblivion thread with it. Plus, if the gameswap idea is succesful, that thread will be pretty busy in it's own right I imagine. Just a thought.
I think it's definitely worth a shot. The price of a thread is still zero!Oh - I'd definitely start its own thread. i just wasted 40 bones on comic books instead of upgrading my computer to run the cool games...
but i would like to get in on the swap...

I've burned 15+ and still haven't taken the amulet back.
Anyway, walked out of town and hear arrows flying. I run up the path and see two guards shooting at each other. One dies, the other is almost dead and he starts shooting in the bushes. Next thing I see is a deer come running out of the bushes and the guard chasing after it. I guess the game AI caused the guard to attack it as any other monster, during which he must have shot the other guard. Extremely funny (maybe you had to be there) especially when I noticed I could pick the nice shiny Legion armor and steel bow
I would agree with this.NO, imo, Morrowind is not this good. I have it, but could not get into it like I am Oblivion.

Let me ask you this - do you automatically get a bounty on your head if you kill someone, or is it just if you are seen?I became Arena Grand Champion last night.![]()
I also got visited by the Dark Brotherhood and murdered someone for them. Now I'm just waiting to be contacted again.![]()
I did not get a bounty on my head for that kill. There was an Imperial Ranger outside the place where I did it and I went up and talked to him afterwards.Just for ####s and Giggles I saved and tried attacking him to see how tough he would be. When I killed him I had a fairly large bounty on my head, so I don't know if it was just this quest that allowed me to kill someone without a bounty or if killing civilians is different than killing Imperial Liegon soldiers.Let me ask you this - do you automatically get a bounty on your head if you kill someone, or is it just if you are seen?I became Arena Grand Champion last night.![]()

Sucks about the RAM, but if I'm held back a little, that's fine. If the game runs at least fairly smoothly, I want to buy it.My video card is a radeon x300, btw. What other info do you need?lolActually, it depends on the video card you have, but that 512 RAM will hold you back a little. The CPU should be OK.Are you trying to give MC a coronary or something?I take it my 1.60 Pentium M and 512 MB ram has no chance of playing this game...

I've seen that same thing happen... then I walked over to the surviving guard and when I clicked on him he asks "Problem?"I laughed.Quick note: So I running around with a iron sword and basic armor. It's been really frustrating, because I keep wanting to buy it when I see it...but I just can't bring myself to if it's not going to work well.Sucks about the RAM, but if I'm held back a little, that's fine. Really. So if it is unwitnessed (the act that gets you visited by the DB), then no bounty. In the old games didn't they contact you after you killed some random civilian?I need to get into the DB.![]()
Same thing happened with me...they kept talking smack, so I waited til a couple of guards were walking by, then took a stroll onto the ship. Was able to just sit back and laugh.Anyone know if the pirates at the waterfront are part of any quests? I, uh, had a little run in with them and they are no longer able to be a part of my world.![]()
They gave me a little dagger to do the deed with. Poor ******* was sleeping when I knifed him in the back.I know that is how you get invited, jsut wasn't sure if you got a bounty if it was unseen. Apparently not. Good.
Just a quick note, I loved Morrowind! I got in to it much more than Oblivion. That is likely only because it came first. But there are enough differences that playing both is well worth it. The big difference is, in Morrowind, encounters are pretty much pre-built. i.e. Unlike in Oblivion, if you stumble in to a cave with some bad-### monsters when you are low level, you WILL die. However, once you uber upgrade and go there, it will be a snap. In other words, a level 12 cave will always be a level 12 cave. A level 15 NPC encounter will always be a level 15 encounter. So, if you try them to soon, you will get waxed. But you can become almost god-like in that game and just destroy everything in your path. I was level 20+ before I even bothered with the main quest. Made it a bit simple. Is the older Morrowind game this good?
I didn't see a difference when I went from lvl 1 to lvl 5. Overall it was relatively easy.Does the competition in the Arena improve as you level up?
Im the Grand Champion at level 4, and I just wonder if they play as well as if you went there, say, at level 10.
It's definately addicting, I'm trying to become a Master in the Fighter's Guild before I try anything else, and just doing that alone I'm about 8+ hours in, and so far haven't had a bored moment. I'm kinda pissed that i'm a tank and I made Marcantilism & Speechcraft 2 of my major skills. I thought Mercantilism would really help me in repairing armor/buying Uber Items, but really hasn't come to pass.I was up until 2:30 this morning playing this black hole. I'm so tired right now.
If you are referring to the ones at the imperial city, then yeah, at least the captain is (he was my first contract for the dark brotherhoodAnyone know if the pirates at the waterfront are part of any quests? )Please expound on the skill set you chose. Was it merely a race issue with the type of character you wanted or did you choose the wrong set of skills too?Well.. after playing for a while, I figured out that I picked all the wrong skills and attribute stuff. Going to make another character. I made Thor the sneaky arrow shooting Nord.![]()
