***OFFICIAL The Leftovers, New HBO show Thread *** (1 Viewer)

I am going to keep an eye on this thread before I decide to take the plunge. I rarely have time to watch TV, so I don't want to get the wife on board for some show that is gonna fizzle out.

If you don't find out where the people went I'm not interested.
The main selling point of the series is that it is not about where the people went, but focuses instead on the people who are left dealing with the consequences.

You guys did not find the priest story mostly predictable?
I was pretty suprised when he got the 3rd red. And then again when he whipped that muggers rear. Then again when he made it to the bank just in time to find out he was 3 days late. By that point, I just wasnt sure which way his cookie was going to crumble.

:goodposting: I kept guessing wrong. First I thought the money wouldn't be under the grill. Then I thought the girl betting black jinxed him and he would lose it all. Then I thought the guy who took his money in the parking lot would get away. Then I thought when he stopped to help the smoker who got hit with the rock, cops would come, see the blood on the money bag and take it/take him in for questioning...then I thought the money would be gone when he got back to his car.

The only thing that didn't surprise me was who bought the church, I saw that coming the second the bank guy said they had an offer on the church.

I love how every thread on a TV show here devolves into posts about how much people hated the show. And then they continue to come back into the thread, and continue to post about the show that they supposedly hate. See above for an example.

Tissue?

Man, I've made that nervous, late-night casino parking lot walk before. Never with that much money, sadly.

The spirit animal #### is a little worrisome. I'm starting to drift on this one a little bit, but I'm gonna stick out the season. It's such a compelling premise.

I'm liking it. Thought this week's episode was the best so far. I'm pretty sure they are showing what happened to the departed during the opening credits. Clearly it was God/heaven related. Obviously nobody knows why, but the what is pretty clear.

I thought this third episode was pretty good. Sticking with it.

What's with the smoking thing for the people in white? Any thoughts?

This is a very Stephen King-esk tactic. The focus isn't about the phenomenon itself but rather how the characters react to the chaos.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm intersted to read any Spoilers GG has on this show. Hopefully he's watching.

Last night was pretty rough all the way around. The cult "stunt" at the end was preposterous.

Hope I'm not bored enough to watch another episode.

Still think the dog-killer guy may be in his mind. Perhaps it runs in the family and the daughter can see him too. That scene at the door was odd.
I don't think the daughter saw him. The dad handed her the six pack probably. After the meeting with the dad in the booby hatch, I'd say it's pretty clear that the guy is imaginary, and the chief is the one killing the dogs.
The daughter asked "who was that" to her dad, so how is the guy imaginary?
After she went into the kitchen, he yelled at the guy to take his truck. I think she was asking "who was that?" as in "who are you talking to?". Also notice the weird face she makes. Maybe I'm wrong, but watch it again. Notice the girls walked right past the guy without even looking at him.
I'm actually with you, in that the guy was imaginary.
I guess that theory has been debunked.

Haven't watched last night but couldn't finish last week's episode.

Between this and trying to catch up on Boardwalk, I want to throw my TV through the window.

The pilot kept me intrigued enough last night to keep going on this tonight. Looks like the thread slows down, I stopped once ep2 started getting talked about....hmmm

Oddly, the ratings for this are holding fairly steady. Maybe it's just us?
I've stuck with it mainly because there's nothing on against it I'd rather watch. I'll see it through S1 at least. Hey, I'm still watching "Under the Dome" so......
Yeah, the wife wants to see some sort of end game. I told her she's nuts but we keep it on the DVR until there's nothing else to watch and we throw it on.

Yeah see how it plays out. Plus its a good time killer till John Oliver comes on.

I was glad they stoned that chick.
That was the second* time I've ever shielded by eyes from something I've seen on TV or in a movie. I just couldn't watch it.

Anyway, still watching the show and I think it's somewhat decent but that's really because, as someone else has said, there's not much else on I'd be watching. I watch when I get around to it which indicates a pretty weak HBO show to me.

* - First was that scene in Girls where Hannah was playing ping pong naked.

I deleted the most recent one from my DVR unwatched. Maybe I'll revisit the show later if it seems like the comments in here suggest that it picks up. But for now, I've lost interest.

Still watching, but Christ, I'm just praying this show gets good. I have too much faith in HBO. 3rd episode was good, but we're back to 2 clunkers in a row and I keep asking myself where is this show even going.
