***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (4 Viewers)

A big part of the MASH series finale is Hawkeye dealing with a suppressed memory of a woman smothering a baby to death to prevent its crying from giving away the location of a busload of refugees to enemy soldiers.
thanks. it's all coming back now...
Did you repress the memory of the most overrated series finale in TV history? ;)
As a packers fan I assume you are an expert on things over rated.
See, you don't even know Brett Farve is the MASH finale of quarterbacks.

If I was that guy on the side of the tracks that got bit in the neck, I would have asked Tyresse to shoot me in the head.
If I was that other guy on the tracks I wouldn't have tried to fight off 6 walkers with a bat and then gotten ripped to pieces like a dumb ###.

I didn't like Bob at first, but Bob is growing on me,he is becoming one of my favorites. If he keeps going down zombies, #### it, no reason not to have a good time it could be outstanding having one guy who just does not give two ####s as a contrast to everyone being bummed out that the world went to #### all the time.

That baby has to die, period. I understand that the odds are long but it would be mind blowing awesome tv.

Oh and wasn't that bus supposed to be stocked with supplies, and now Mags, sasha and Bob don't have to share with a bunch of woodbury redshirts? JACKPOT

I am a extremely disappointed that the guys with the truck showed up. I wanted some running gunning survival for a while before we establish the next farm/woodbury/prison with a outbreak of the flu.

No idea why Tyrese and co. left the guy there to turn instead of taking him out. Carol especially. I praised his "stand back to back so you can see in both directions" order. That's the kind of small stuff I'd like to see in the show to make the characters look like they are doing smart things to survive but still run into trouble.
The part where he left 2 little girls and a baby alone in the woods with zombies everywhere?

Listen up sweetheart, Tyreese didn't leave Lizzie in the woods, Lizzie sent her goon to take care of some bidness. Lizzie will choke out a baby and cap you in the head. Lizzie is a stone cold pet zombie having bad ###. Liz stayed in the woods because she wanted some alone time with baby plot device and you can rest assured that if she went to the tracks those zombies would have been on the wrong side after she took that slugger from the meat bag and went all sport goofy knocking some undead heads over the center field fence. (the deep part)

I enjoyed the episode, but I must say that I am unhappy that Judith is alive.
There's an unwritten rule in some TV circles that you never introduce a baby into a drama. It almost never works and tends to create unnecessary problems. For that reason I was a bit apprehensive about Judith on this show and continue to be. That said, I didn't think for a second they were going to kill her off during the Governor's attack. Even on a show like this that would've been a really dark turn. But the longer the baby is on the more holes the writers will get put into. It's hard to write a baby out of certain situations, especially on a violent show like this one.
I believe you haven't read the comics, right? Personally, dark as the way they handled it, it was better than the way it has been handled in the TV show, especially with Judith still alive.

Comic's spoiler, although for past events:

In the comics, Lori is killed while pregnant, and it is clear from the panel that the baby was killed as well, even if they could have done a C-Section (in the middle of the Gov's attack on the prison).
I don't know what they are going to do with Judith, but it is one of the few things (yes, few) that bother me.

They showed the berries on the ground twice and another group also passed by the rabbits in the log that Lizzie seems to have stabbed.
Yeah, the first crew was the ones that Tyrese tried to saved, the second was Tyrese and the girls and the third was Beth and Daryl, who killed the lone survivor from the first crew after he turned. They didn't show everything in 24 mode time wise. I am thinking that the first crew was part of the prison crew as well. The Luke and Molly kids Beth was looking for took off before Micah and Lizzie, who stayed around to save Tyrese, so it makes sense time wise that Luke and Molly and some other Woodbury folks left first, followed by Tyrese and the girls, followed by Beth and Daryl. The shoe Beth recognized must have been Molly's.
The berries were the ones that the girls dropped when the one took off running and the blood Daryl found was from Tyreese getting hurt at the prison (cut on arm).

I liked the way they kinda mixed up the times, interesting way to handle an episode with a number of different groups basically all running in the same general direction at different times. All the little clues that they were all going in the same way was kinda cool (the sign about hitchhikers as well).

I know psycho girl is popular among the sadists right now but that suffocation scene turned me off. Probably because I have young kids. Knew they wouldn't go there since its basic cable but still creeped me out which was the point I guess.

I enjoyed the episode, but I must say that I am unhappy that Judith is alive. I know the show is not the comics, etc etc, but the way they left that (bloody carrier) would have been a good way to leave it, and it has a significant effect on Rick and his (lack of) sanity. Relatively dark, but not on-screen.

Sure, we wouldn't have seen psycho smothering the baby in this episode, and TBH, that made me more squeemish than the bloody carrier and thinking about that.

I don't know why it really bothers me that Judith is still alive. Most likely just cause I've read the comics and how it all goes down there, I guess. Seems like a cop-out from the writers in this case. Not a cop-out or bad writing like some people complain about, just they had an opportunity to explore a fairly dark turn and how it affected Rick, and chose the "feel-good" method that lets them have the baby cry to attract walkers as needed.

Now, that said, I still really enjoyed the episode, felt it was a logical continuation of the previous episode and am looking forward to the new characters.
You guys don't remember how the old serials used to do it? You've got two cowboys stuck on the edge of a cliff...an army is charging towards them...one cowboy looks at the other and says, "It's been nice knowing ya, pardner"...fade to black.

Next episode...we see the cowboys jumping...bunch of quick cuts...and then miraculously the cowboys land on ground and somehow parkour roll their way out of smashing to bits...all is safe until the end of the episode.

These writers wrote that stupid puddle of blood to make people wonder..."is the baby dead?"

It's just awful, awful writing.

Love how fire now somehow attracts zombies...seems like we could've stopped all zombie hordes months ago with a freaking fire pit. Nevermind two scrumptious people to eat...I'm going for that fire ball over there...or wait, that tank seems to be smoking a lot...bet there's fire there...yummy!

So Glenn wakes up and there's no zombies inside the prison? Awesome.

Let's stand and talk in the middle of the street with a hundred zombies coming after us...but wait...only four or five zombies made it to us...just so we can see Glenn collapse and show us just how much he needs the lesbian's help (I actually don't have a problem with this...except it's execution). I guess the rest of the zombies got bored...and decided to turn back for the burning car instead.

When they were letting the zombies out of the back of the bus...after two piled up...doesn't that eliminate the threat? I thought once you have a couple of zombies around you...none of the others can seem to smell/find you. Or do you have to remove their arms and jaws before that camouflage works?

Love how everyone died on the bus...thirty people we don't recognize and the last guy is a body double for Glenn...with no real explanation how everyone died.

Gotta love how every episode has one or two ninja zombies that can sneak up on you in broad daylight in the open without any notice.

Apparently big @zz military vehicles carrying armed dudes and a hot chick are also just as silent as the ninja zombies and can roll up on you without you knowing...even though there is no ambient noises, no other cars, kids, noise making things like production plants or planes...nothing...it can roll down the road, stop and they can hop out before you take any notice. Cause...you know how it makes no sense to have your senses on alert in a world full of ninja zombies.

I'd think that if anyone...on this planet could track people the way just about everyone on this show can...then no one would ever escape anything. How do we have an FBI's most wanted if it's so easy to level up in tracking to superhuman status...then we don't even need bloodhounds today. I'm of the opinion that Carol, Tyrese, Michonne, Rick, Glenn and Daryl could all find Hoffa if you gave them have a chance.

Dude had one job...Tyresse is Thor-hammering all the zombies...you've got that one zombie behind you to worry about...nope...I'm gonna act like I'm on the Laker's and just watch Kobe as he takes the ball to the hole, shoots a brick, gets the rebound...drives it again and the refs bail him out.

I can never get so emotionally invested in a tv show or movie where something like that actually bothers me. It's not really happening! I was actually hoping she'd go through with it because the baby is a stupid part of the show. I wasn't happy they brought her back.

Anyone who is interested in a very different spin on zombies should read Patient Zero. Especially people who watch this show asking why didn't X do Y because it would've been better than what they did Z. The book does not suffer from that problem in the slightest.

One of the people that stammered off the bus looked like Glenn. They (the camera) didn't really lock onto him though so I wasn't quite sure at that point. I'm sure some of you saw the same thing.
Well that was the point of the whole scene, to leave you hanging through the commercial not knowing if it was Glenn or not.
Cheap tv trick. I hate that. Suspense for the sake of suspense. Maggie obviously knew it wasn't Glenn, why not let us know? Felt like I was watching the Bachelor when they did that.

Correction. Fires inside a prison attract zombies. Camp fires in the middle of woods overrun with zombies repel them so you can sleep soundly.

All caught up. I swear I just read "Glenn did a good job scavenging the prison" 6 times. You guys are grasping for things that the characters do that actually make sense. Let it go and just enjoy the bad decision engine that runs the drama on this show, punctuated by the occasional manufactured cliff hanger. And there is still some cool threads running... I think we've all got hopes for this Terminus thing... and that horde of 7,000 walkers they came across... and the new moustache man and his crew. The show is entertaining. Much more entertaining when you stop putting yourself in their shoes and thinking if you would do it the same way or not. I know a lot of zombie horror thrives on that "if it were me" mindgame, but this show just isn't one of those.

That was pretty clever of Glen to pack up all that stuff before leaving the prison but I thought I detected a little Yiddish creeping into his accent later on. Hadn't heard that before.

I think I might tap out.

Watching people kill zombies just isn't very interesting anymore, and I'm not sure there's a character I give a #### about in the entire show.

These characters should be more interesting by now. Last week, they gave some character development a shot, and the highlight was Carl pounding a gallon of pudding.

He had a choice to make. Leave the girls were there were no walkers around or take them to the sound of the screams where you have an unknown amount of threat. It's not an easy call and I didn't have a problem with what he did.

he was preparing for the next ice storm to hit Atlanta.. have you seen the Weather Channel images? It looked like a scene out of the Walking Dead

Nope. Don't read the comics. Do some Wikipedia on occasion just for the fun of it so I have some familiarity with some things that have gone on in the comics.

I feel the opposite about many of the nitpicks and "criticisms" I see in this thread, especially the ones that are clearly addressed on the show. To each their own. :)
For me, nitpicking has become fun and an art form. If I do it, I'm just trying to get someone to laugh FWIW.

I generally enjoy the show. I'm mystified by certain things that happen and decisions that are made. But so what? Better than most of the crap out there.

I thought it was a pretty sharp move by him too. What if Sasha was one of the people being attacked? I think he had to go but he had to figure out some way not to just leave the girls there to be devoured (although Lizzie is probably at the point where she's gonna start eating walkers). I thought it was a good move by him to come up with that plan - and I haven't been all that impressed with Tyrese as a character so far.

I've been done with it for a while but like a zombie walker shot in the chest I keep on going.

Zombies have been distracted like that previously on this show. Shane and/or Rick did something similar in season 2 IIRC. It was the loud noise that drew their attention, not the fire.

So Glenn wakes up and there's no zombies inside the prison? Awesome.

Obviously the tank blew a couple holes in prison walls, but unless it hit the specific cell block they were using that part would still be secure.

Not real sure what the beef is here. Lazy zombies?

I imagine the "zombie camouflage" doesn't make you suddenly disappear, it just helps you fly under the radar when you haven't already been noticed.

Love how everyone died on the bus...thirty people we don't recognize and the last guy is a body double for Glenn...with no real explanation how everyone died.

How everyone died? When people die, they turn into a zombie. Zombies in a confined space won't end well. You complain about weak writing and then ask for everything to be clearly explained to the audience, which imo is weak writing.

Gotta love how every episode has one or two ninja zombies that can sneak up on you in broad daylight in the open without any notice.

Ok, I'm with you on this one. It can be silly, but it's part of the genre. Beth hearing something and then getting snuck up on anyway ten seconds later made her look pretty useless.

You're way off on this one. Just because the vehicle wasn't shown by the camera earlier doesn't mean it went unnoticed by the characters. Tara saying "enjoy the show, #######s?" should make it clear to the viewer that she knew they were there watching while she had her hands full with the zombies. They got out of the truck after that question.

I'd think that if anyone...on this planet could track people the way just about everyone on this show can...then no one would ever escape anything. Now I'm back to agreeing. It seemed reasonable for tracking to be a skill Daryl had, but now I guess he has taught everyone that skill? Beth of all people was even helping with the tracking.
I know this is your shtick, but I'll entertain it anyway. Responses in bold.

He had a third choice--stay with the girls and move away from the screams.

WD Trivia: The Dixon brothers don't appear on screen together (other than a S2 hallucination) until the Gov pits them against one another in his arena.

"Frank, we don't know for sure. Let's wait it out here instead of hopping out the back of the bus."

I didn't have a problem with the decision, the girls were just stupid.

The only thing Tyrese messed up is having the psycho hold the kid and the timid one hold the gun. Switch that up and he nailed it.

One of them's a normal acting little kid. Not expecting her to handle the situation all that well.

The other one is full blown psycho. Wouldn't be surprised if she starts raping and pillaging soon.

I think I'm done with this thread. The show is better and I still enjoy it a lot, so I'll keep watching until it ends.
Don't go. This thread is awesome. Reminds me of Lost when that bird screamed Hurley!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcHaa6PbKsw

:lmao:
:lmao: I had forgotten about that. For some reason, I don't even remember that scene. I remember the discussions about a large bird, but I could swear I never saw it. I didn't have a DVR back then, so maybe a badly timed pee break.

OK, I'll stay.

I hate to break it to you, but the shots appeared to be in the back of the bus. Turn it around and you have it. Shane turned pretty damn quick, so maybe a couple people in the back got shot and turned before people realized it. Remember, these Woodbury people had no effing clue how to fight zombies. These were all the non-able bodied people that didn't get whacked by the governor. With the shooting, most people are ducking and maybe didn't even noticed the people dead in the back.

Again, while not the explanation people wanted, the show at least showed us the bus getting pelted in the back by bullets. So, they foreshadowed what was going to happen with the bus and it still isn't a good enough explanation. I am with Stu, I don't want this to be a documentary where they go through and explain every single angle to us. It is reasonable for what happened to happened, especially considering the people on the bus.

Wait, there was a talking bird on Lost? How do I not remember that?
I don't either. I just remember people talking about it. That video seemed dubbed a little, it just seemed off, like the fact that Michael's empty chamber firing clicks were so loud. I have Amazon Prime, so I guess I could go back and find that scene.

It happened. Just a random mystery in a season finale that was never heard from again. What was the point of Room 33? All of the hatches? Etc, etc. Nevermind, we're going to flash sideways into purgatory and show you a giant glowing river that is the essence of the whole world that no one has found despite people trudging back and forth across this island for centuries.
