***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (2 Viewers)

We don't need to rehash the Lost ending again but I will say one thing I like about this show over Lost is it doesn't introduce major plot points and then fail to address them later on. When the two shows are/were at their best I'd take Lost hands down without question. But I like the fact The Walking Dead doesn't dangle big things in front of the viewers and then forget they were ever introduced later on.

No idea why Tyrese and co. left the guy there to turn instead of taking him out. Carol especially. I praised his "stand back to back so you can see in both directions" order. That's the kind of small stuff I'd like to see in the show to make the characters look like they are doing smart things to survive but still run into trouble.
The part where he left 2 little girls and a baby alone in the woods with zombies everywhere?
He had a choice to make. Leave the girls were there were no walkers around or take them to the sound of the screams where you have an unknown amount of threat. It's not an easy call and I didn't have a problem with what he did.
He had a third choice--stay with the girls and move away from the screams.
That's a rational choice someone might make as well, but not one Tyreese would make.

To be fair- he'd have to assume that whoever is screaming is somebody he might know from the Prison... or one of the guhv's people. In which case, he can hammer away for revenge.

I caught up on the show over the course of 6 months.Yeah... lots of lazy/annoying writing to hurl the plot into conflict (the governor is the worst case of this for me) and lots of eyerolling wtf moments that don't make much sense. But it's still a fun ride and still has enough of a look into ideas of what makes us human at a base level to make it interesting for me. I tend to have liked the quieter moments where they're having to make tough decisions, rather than the big writer-devised plot battles.

I'm surprised how little criticism Andrew Lincoln gets compared to the other criticisms on the show, the guy is atrocious. Even past the bad writing forcing him into a weekly teary eyed metrosexual emo quest, the guy is just a lousy actor. It should tell you that when TWD is on break, no one is rushing to try to put him into anything else.

I'm pretty sure that 50% of the people in this thread are really bad at watching TV. I'm also convinced that most of you sit through movies whispering things like "who is that again?" or "why is he doing that?"

There was an article in Variety recently which talked about the number of atypical things about The Walking Dead being a hit compared to other shows. One of the things listed was how the show hasn't produced a breakout star of any kind. No one from the show has gone on to something big outside of it to this point.

Maggie's the only one with a real shot IMO.

Daryl will get some work.

Which is shocking given the quality of the acting on the show.

I haven't gone back to rewatch the latest episode yet, but didn't Daryl and Beth end up going down the train tracks in the opposite direction of Tyreese/Carol/girls? Or did it just end the Beth/Daryl storyline with them standing over the pile of zombies that Tyreese hammered at the tracks?

This will sound dark, but I wanted that girl to suffocate Judith. I hate the idea of having to revolve the story around protecting a little baby. I can barely stand Carl or the 2 young girls, let alone a baby.

Beth is 28!! She looks like she is 16. Now I don't feel so creepy when I stare at her wondering if she is hot or not anytime she is on the screen. Still can't decide.

Lol, me too. I was disappointed that they copped out on the baby dying, and then for a minute I was like, whoa, they're going to have a child suffocate a baby and I thought it was worth bringing the kid back for what would've been the darkest moment in television history. But then it didn't happen.

I appreciate it when a show has balls.

My wife actually said "someone's using their head"

That baby would be a zombie magnet.

You guys might not be aware of how human anatomy works but it is possible to cover someone's mouth while still allowing them to breath through their nose.

Watch closer, it was pretty obvious she was suffocating the baby, hand was up against the nose and over the mouth.

Love how everyone died on the bus...thirty people we don't recognize and the last guy is a body double for Glenn...with no real explanation how everyone died.

How everyone died? When people die, they turn into a zombie. Zombies in a confined space won't end well. You complain about weak writing and then ask for everything to be clearly explained to the audience, which imo is weak writing.
"Hey Sara, I think someone died up front and will turn into a zombie soon."

"Frank, we don't know for sure. Let's wait it out here instead of hopping out the back of the bus."

"Ok, but if more than five people turn into zombies then I'm getting out."

"No, I think we should wait until everyone is a zombie before deciding what to do."

"Great plan, let's do it."
I hate to break it to you, but the shots appeared to be in the back of the bus. Turn it around and you have it. Shane turned pretty damn quick, so maybe a couple people in the back got shot and turned before people realized it. Remember, these Woodbury people had no effing clue how to fight zombies. These were all the non-able bodied people that didn't get whacked by the governor. With the shooting, most people are ducking and maybe didn't even noticed the people dead in the back.Again, while not the explanation people wanted, the show at least showed us the bus getting pelted in the back by bullets. So, they foreshadowed what was going to happen with the bus and it still isn't a good enough explanation. I am with Stu, I don't want this to be a documentary where they go through and explain every single angle to us. It is reasonable for what happened to happened, especially considering the people on the bus.
Hey Sara...there's people turning into zombies in the back of the bus.

It's your imagination...relax.

Seriously...I think we should escape out the front.

Nope...you're being ridiculous.

Long Island Man Shoots Girlfriend over The Walking Dead, Post-Apocalyptic Style

It's a scene that wouldn't be out of place on AMC's hit zombie drama. But this shooting was instead caused by the TV show.

It’s a violent scene that wouldn’t be out of place in AMC’s zombie drama The Walking Dead: a man grabs a .22-caliber semiautomatic rifle and casually fires a bullet into his girlfriend’s back. But this shooting wasn’t on The Walking Dead — it was because of it. Long Island man Jared Gurman has been charged with second-degree attempted murder after shooting Jessica Gelderman, 27, during a heated argument over the hit TV series. Gelderman remains in the hospital with her rib shattered and lung and diaphragm pierced. She is in stable condition.

The argument started when the 26-year-old Gurman was out with his longtime girlfriend on Sunday night. Their discussion turned to the TV show, and Gurman expressed his conviction that a “military mishap” would soon occur in the drama, which is about human survival in the face of a zombie invasion, according to a Long Island detective. “He felt very adamant that there could be some type of military mishap that would result in some sort of virus or something being released that could cause terrible things to happen,” Detective Lt. Raymond Cote said at a Tuesday news conference, reported by Newsday.

(Q&A: Frank Darabont on His New TV Show The Walking Dead)

But Gelderman, who has been in a relationship with Gurman for 3 1/2 years, found his assertion “ridiculous,” Cote said. As the boiling spat continued to escalate, she decided to leave and spend the night at her parents’ house. But the argument didn’t end with her exit, progressing into a text message argument instead. Disturbed by the “bitter and angry” exchange, police said, she headed back to his apartment in Williston Park to check up on him around 2:30 a.m., Newsday reports.

There, she found Gruman sitting on the stairs, armed with a rifle. “She tried to defuse the situation, to calm him down,” Cote explained, according to NBC. “She was walking up the stairs when Mr. Gurman raised the rifle, pointed it at her and fired one round into her back. He drove Gelderman to a nearby hospital after the shooting. He was promptly arrested but when police questioned Gurman about his girlfriend’s gun wounds, he lied at first, saying the shooting was an accident, NBC reports. But he later admitted to firing the bullet: “Jess walked into the room and I fired the gun once and hit her,” Gurman later said in a police statement, according to Newsday. “She said, ‘Oh my God. What did you do?’”

Police described Gurman as “passionate” about weapons and had seized three long guns in his home, NBC reports. He was ordered jailed without bail — he should probably hope it doesn’t mirror the one that serves as a centerpiece in the show.

(this happened in 2012 ...but still thought it was crazy)

Well that was a yawner.

Other than Rick, Carl and Michonne headed to Sanctuary and telling us what Abraham's deal was there wasn't much to get excited about in this episode.

Agreed, I like the last two a lot better. Not much going on and we didn't really need more Michonne/Carl bonding.

Basically Michonne/Carl bonding didn't tell us a whole lot. Rick being trapped under a bed for most of the episode ended up resulting in nothing. There were about 5 minutes of advancing the storyline in this episode. I agree this was a huge drop-off after two great episodes to kick off the second half of the season.

Well I guess they can't all be gems.

well the show is kind of all over the place...like the main characters. Im ok with that ...everyone complained when they stayed at any one location for too long so heres the zombie world on foot.

Yep, it was too much filler.

Also, is Abraham that dumb that he thinks that guy will save the world or is he just trying to humor his buddy/have a purpose that keeps him going?

I'm assuming we'll find out more about what Abraham's deal is and what his ties to Eugene are.
