I'm disappointed either way. I hate that Glenn is dead if he in fact is and I would hate if he miraculously survived that scenario. I'm just not seeing a clear way he could survive.

his course. But his murder would be a good way to introduce the next governor type character.

I also see this all happening at the end of the episode and then the actor appearing on talking dead.

Well, he did sort of sacrifice himself for the group. Michonne told him he shouldn't go because he has a wife and he told her that's the reason he was going.

Per wikia this is true. Glenn only killed people once they were zombified.

I've read/seen a few people state that Glenn maybe rolled under the garbage bin. If he was a few inches high, maybe he could roll under one of those. And as far as getting up and getting inside of it would require him to...well....do just that. I doubt he's even able to get up with that horde standing around him.

That said, I do recall a scene in previous trailers about the group coming along one of these trash containers, and it was an aerial shot of them approaching it, as if they were about to look inside. That scene has not been shown yet. Does anyone else remember that from the previews??

There will be a point in this season where Maggie will go looking for him. She will come across his devoured body and not realize it's him....until she spots the watch her father gave him, which the show purposely reminded the viewer of last night.

Maybe that's when they'll acknowledge he's dead?....Good point.

I absolutely loathe the thought of watching Maggie searching for Glenn for 4 or 5 episodes. I can imagine all of the slow-moving flashbacks of the two of them we'll have to endure.

The Good:

- close-ups of the walker faces around the dumpster.

- the fact they didn't have Rick call out to Glenn and all you hear on Glenn's side is the sound of walkers feeding (that would have been a bit over the top, but you've seen things like that in tons of shows).

The Bad:

- Killing off that woman with the bad leg. She had a lovely jiggle to her.

- Glenn being killed off

- Darryl and that whole waste of time riding around doing nothing. I know a lot of people love that kind of thing, but to me its a time waster.

The Ugly:

- if they have Glenn come out of that alive, it will be jumping the shark (as several have stated).

eta. I don't think they were Glenn's intestines being ripped out as it looked like it was coming out of Glenn's chest area. Although if that's guy's stomach was over Glenn's chest, there would have been a lot of Glenn exposed. One other thing supporting a "Glenn is alive" scenario is that when they panned out of the close-up shot of Glenn being ripped apart (or not), they showed that there were only a couple of walkers feeding, with the space being too tight. That's why you had all those walkers doing the sleepwalk move (hands in front of them trying to get them some sweet Chinese food.

Difficult to find quality katanas these days. Most of them are crap which would end up breaking after limited use.

I thought for sure this was going to happen when Rick was trying to contact him as a way to let the group know he was dead. That it didn't happen could be a potential clue that Glenn isn't dead for those hoping that's the case.

This is true. A machete would be a better choice anyway, imo.

Also, I can't imagine how hard it would be to punch a katana through a freshly-turned human forehead point-first like Michonne did in the woods. Seems impossible to me.

Zero chance that the most climatic death in the comic goes out like that in the middle of the episode in the middle of the season:

I get having knives, but everyone should also be carrying a longer range weapon, even if just a machete or a sharp pole. There have been so many times when a little killing from a distance or through a fence would be helpful. But then again, I am in the kill them all camp and not ignore them if they are ignoring me camp.

So now I'm more to the 60% he is gone.. and the post above how at some point Maggie and the group will go out searching, find parts of a corpse laying next to the Watch, will be the "closer" that many are looking for.. Then Maggie and Glenn will be on Talking dead..

I like the idea that sometimes just being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong d**khead can get you killed. It's also not like this show hasn't killed off major characters early in a season. Lori (and TDogg) died in the fourth episode of Season 3. So killing off Glenn early in the season wouldn't be out of character by any means. I know what happens to him in the comics but this show has proven since Day 1 that it doesn't treat the comics as gospel and will change course or replace characters with certain death scenes (i.e. Hershel being beheaded)

The simplicity tied in exactly to the way of life the character was living which considering the fact with these characters, 99.9% of all things in their world want to kill them.

Start here and you can see his shirt and neck area. and it looks like a Walker is knelling down next to his head.

but then at 2 minute mark he sits up and there are no attacks happening above the neck line, meaning it is possible that the chomping is happening on Nick's body and they haven't reached Glenn yet..

good job on the directors/writers leaving a shadow of a doubt as I'm pretty sure we will have to wait at least two weeks to find out.

That's why I am fine with him going this way and don't need a huge climatic scene.

With this show I just don't care anymore but I see so many scenes in this trailer that will easily spoil parts of the show coming up in the next few episodes and scenes that would have spoiled scenes in the past episodes had I saw this trailer before.

To be clear, I'm perfectly fine with Glenn dying this way. Would help to keep the viewers on their toes every week b/c it means that pretty much anybody but Rick could go at any time.

So much of it is out of context and deliberately misleading though.

I just watched it again and there is an overhead shot around the 1:15 mark like you said but hard to tell where that's at. Didn't look like the place where Glenn (may have) bought it.

I know.....zombies and immortal gas and lawns being mowed.......but Glenn not getting nicked amidst that sea of zombies is a legitimate WTF moment. It's cheap heat. They could have just as easily conveyed the same message with Nicholas jumping off and sacrificing himself, allowing Glenn to climb into the trash bin.

Cut, but the blade was covered in zombie guts. It was shown last week in the preview too.

Zombie guts do not cause someone to die, only bites.

I think Nick was the one being eaten. I'm no medical expert but if Glenn was being torn to shreds wouldn't there be blood pouring out of his mouth?

There's also no question they were being ambiguous. That was definitely intentional and Gimple's message on the Talking Dead last night pretty much confirmed they wanted there to be doubt about Glenn's fate.

I think it will be a nightmare dream sequence Glenn has after dip#### falls off the dumpster and Glenn drops down inside it and passes out. That way they avoid the shark jump for the most part.
