***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (3 Viewers)

Why would they treat Glen's death any different than how they've handled other major character deaths? What's the point of ambiguity? It's not like this show needs to build up intrigue or buzz to be successful.

I know how Rick Survives in the RV. I would put it in a spoiler, but it is so obvious, everyone will have already figured it out:

Zombie Dale is going to come out of the woods, pop open the hood of the RV, and put a new hose in. It will start right up.

God, I miss Dale (said no one ever).

All this talk of Glenn, what was up with Ricks hand?
Cut, but the blade was covered in zombie guts. It was shown last week in the preview too.
Does he still have time to amputate his arm?
I don't think he is infected because I don't think he's going anywhere. If you saw the machete, it was in the zombie's shoulder. I am thinking that someone chopped at the zombie and it got stuck, but the front part he hit with his hand wasn't actually in the zombie. He may have also cut himself on his knife. I couldn't really tell. I'm just guessing because it has been long enough that if he was infected chopping off his arm wouldn't work anymore. I think if he thought he was infected, he would have sliced the hand right then and there.
He is already infected though, per Season 2, right?.

It's just a pesky flesh wound device for adding to the struggle, imo.
What it meant for me... Spoiler is in regards to comic books so tread lightly...

I stopped reading the comic books at about the Governor part.. But Rick loses his hand to the Gov, so this might be a way for the Directors/Writers to "catch up" to the comics.. :oldunsure:
That's my thought, too.

I hope he dies. I like Glenn, I think he's a good character. But if none of the main characters ever die and these kind of impossible odds don't kill them. I don't know I think it hurts the show. For me at least.
You have to have a core group of survivors. Otherwise, you constantly have to bring in more characters.....and how did they magically survive all this time. Some people must survive the whole time.....until you are wrapping up the show. Then you can kill them all off.
I'm fine with the main characters surviving. It's more a bone to pick with a guy falling into a horde of Walkers with no obvious escape and be in the middle of a feeding frenzy. Then surviving. Keep him out of impossible situations to let him survive. That's the reason I hope he's dead.

I would wish for a better death for Glenn, but there's no way he could live through that. even if they were eating the other guy, his head/neck/arms/legs had to have been exposed, and we know that zombies will just start a-chompin' on anything in teeth range. people want Glenn to have a heroic death, but he was being heroic by giving that POS a chance at redemption, which we ALL knew was going to end badly one way or the other. in this world, you don't always get a 21 gun salute for your sendoff...sometimes you get trapped in an alley with 1000 zombies. it just be like that. RIP Glenn.

if they do somehow have him live through that, I think it would be the cheesiest thing they've done to date on the show.

Flashbacks wouldn't necessarily answer the question. Not answering the question for some time would be worse than jumping the shark now that it's out there.

Unless they were in contract negotiations that weren't going well for next year or something. But, I don't think that's the case, I still think he really dies later on this season.

One of those walkers at the end had blue eyes. Let's talk about why.

How much do you think dwarf hamsters cost at that pet store?

How many of you thought (like I did) that Rick started blasting the side of the RV because those tables that turn into beds are horrible?

They were heading for a feed store and yet became food themselves. Think about it.

FWIW...a picture has been leaked of "episode 11" with Glen standing around with Maggie, Rick and Darryl

Didn't Hershel appear in an ep or 2 after he died as a flashback?

Maybe we get Glen back like Dexter's father as a moral compass for Maggie.
Most of the times the show used flashbacks was to update where a character has been and what they have been doing since the last time we saw them. More importantly you don't need the ambiguity of his death to do either of those things. In my mind there is only one reason to not have it definitive.

If Glenn survived no way I would agree that the show would have jumped the shark. Even if the alien thing happened I would still say no. The show is so damn good right now that it would take several impossible/implausible things in a row like that to happen for it to jump the shark.

These first 3 episodes have been great. As tony the tiger said, they're grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr8

I'm on board for a Walking Dead/X-Files cross-over. Since Scully and Maggie are both single now maybe they could find some comfort with one another during these tough times.

I agree with you. It's been a great start. I think he's dead, but the seemed to leave the door open and it wouldn't bother me much if they showed how he got away.

I continue to be impressed with the work Gimple has done as showrunner. It's not often a show in its sixth season is still as strong as it was in its earlier seasons but this season is off to a terrific start.

I mean yeah it would seem real stupid if he fell off the dumpster with a hoard around him and laid there for a while and survived. Countless shows have left little end of show/season cliffhangers like this before, and then during the next show they show was REALLy happened which was ever so slightly different from what we saw at the end of the previous show.

For example in this case, when the camera panned out and you see a hoard of walkers eating at the dumpster, he may have already escaped, but they did not show that part. They may have just skipped from him laying there seeing Nicholas get eaten to a view of the entire area from above, skipping how he got out of it. Could have been the flare, could have been gunfire elsewhere, could have been something else.

Hopefully he survives in a dumb way so the show haters will stop watching. Nah. That isnt even a possibility. You people will NEVER stop watching. Ever.

You guys may be right, but I don't think it is likely for a few reasons. 1. Merle and 2. What a pain it would be to try to get Rick to act with one hand. The lost production time having the main character not be able to open a door if he is carrying something is staggering. 3. Merle's fake amputated hand was the worst special effect in the show and looked stupid.

Why do you hate good writing?

FWIW, I didn't really think Glen's death was ambiguous at all when I watched it.
I thought it was pretty clear too until Gimple's message on The Talking Dead.
“So I’ll say this – In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story to help complete the story,”
:X and :lmao: at the same time..
My guess is when Maggie shoots out that baby they will cgi Glens face on it or make it a little Glenn like in the Hobbit.

I am not one to defend every little thing about the show and I do like good writing....but take this show for what it is - just a fun show to watch.

This show isn't Breaking Bad or Fargo and never will be...but it is still a great show IMO...why can't people accept that by now?

Zombie Lori comes in on a riding mower and plows through the hoard. Glenn jumps up, rips her head off with his teeth then commandeers the mower and rides it to Rick's RV. He stands on the back deck of the mower shooting zombies with his AR15.

I have accepted it.

Everyone has their breaking point though.

Mine is Glen surviving.

Yours may be Ludacris making a cameo while plugging his new album and rescuing Glen just in time with his rap crew and they all drive off together in a 67 Chevy with hydraulics bouncing their way into the gates of Alexandria and when Ludacris sees Morgan, he yells out "DAD!!!!"

We're both not wrong but we both have our breaking points....

I just thought of the one way I would accept Glen surviving. It was a little dream sequence It really happened but the roles are reversed. The scene plays out as before but it is Glenn that is stunned that it is over. The faces are reversed. They play the scenes then they play it again but it is Nicklaus yelling at Glenn to look at him. Glenn looks up at Nicklaus and says "Thank you" and puts the gun to Nicklaus' head and pulls the trigger. Glenn having killed killed his first person ever see's himself fall into the crowd of zombies and being torn apart just like Luke Skywalker in Vaders helmet knowing it should have been him. He is watching Nicks body being eaten but Glenn sees himself screaming. Then while they are eating Nick he somehow miraculously escapes.
