I liked it.  Tara needs to step up and tell them about Oceanside and all those weapons there.

It was cool that they used the truck from Smokey and the Bandit.  When Daryl was dancing there with Richard, I told the wife "hey, that looks like the Smokey and the Bandit truck."  Turns out it was.
Mattresses? Otherwise I don't get/remember this reference.

"We're going to meet the Saviors to give them their loot .... make sure you ware your best gun that you have no intention of using. .... Just in case they want to take one more of these that we already don't have nearly enough of."
Huh?

Eta.. which group is this?

Daryl not telling Carol :wall:  I'm so done with the writing on this show.
I think it was better writing to not tell her.  Everyone watching, including me, wanted him to tell her about Glenn.  "Tell her!  Tell her!"...  then he thought better of it given her emotional condition.  Morgan called Daryl out when he said he knew Daryl didn't tell Carol.  Morgan did the same thing (for the same exact reasons) when he didn't tell Rick and Daryl that Carol was in the house.  He told Daryl afterward that, see, we all still have things to hide.  Daryl wants and needs Carol to fight, and she will I'm guessing.  But that particular time wasn't the time to send her into a crying fit over the loss of anyone in the group... especially someone like Glenn who has been there from the start and was close to Carol.

She essentially told Daryl that she couldn't handle such bad news and all she wanted to hear was that everyone was alright.  And Daryl gave her that.  Morgan points out to Daryl that Daryl should now understand why Morgan also protected Carol's wishes.

The whole Gabriel angle UGGGHHHHHHHH

Last week many of us figured he talked with Boots, and decided to help.. Nope, he was attacked in the pantry.. which leads to.

1. Of the entire Alexandria border he is the ONLY one out there watching at night.. Really??
2. Being the only watchdog, he decides that is the perfect time to go check on the pantry??
3. What is the use of having a gate if it is THAT easy for someone to get in, find the pantry and wait in hiding for someone to come in??
4. Who told Gabriel about the Boat?
Rick & Aaron never did, and can't imagine Boots said "I'm taking back the items Rick & Aaron took from the boat".

No idea who wrote that Gabriel story line but they should be fired immediately as they have no idea what the F they are doing..... End
1- I can't explain why he's the only guard... but-

2- I thought he said he heard noise in the pantry (however plausible), so went to investigate.

3- the wall has the supports on the outside... perfect for climbing over. No gate needed.

4- I think he said that they asked him where the supplies from the boat were.

I'm not trying to defend this group- which reaches pretty ridiculous lows so far... but I thought I'd try to answer your questions.
I missed some of what Gab said near the end so will have to re-watch  so I can hear what I missed.
If he said he heard a noise, OK.. But then again..
If you are the only watchdog and your doing your job, then there shouldn't be anyone but residents in the pantry so why leave your post?? unless of course you suck at being a watchdog... and based on them showing us him walking the grounds and reading the bible I can conclude he should no longer be trusted as a watchdog ;)

Rosita's going through some serious chit right now. My guess is she either dies which will be a massive blow to the television industry or Sasha dies saving her.

Yup. All of that was easily the best stuff on the episode.

Will say Richard's plan is one Shane would probably approve of - not specifically sacrificing Carol but the understanding that one move like that could result in the end result they all want.

This episode was the redemption episode for Gabriel.  He said that he figured Rick would think he turned on them again, but felt relieved that Rick came to rescue him and didn't assume Gabe had just stole the food and left.  It's why he threatened the "boots" girl with the knife in the junk yard and offered to show them his group is worthy to join against the Saviors.  I think now he feels like he is a part of Rick's circle, even after some of the things he's done to them in the past.

Yeah Shane would have said let's do it.  But after the comments about Carol from Daryl, I don't know why Richard didn't just say, ok, then what is your plan?  Once he knew Carol was special the Daryl, why not come up with something else.

Also, I don't know why Richard didn't say "Cynthia" or "Rachel" or whatever when Daryl asked for the name.  He had to know he knew Carol.  "Oh that's just Sarah, some crazy wanderer Ezekiel happens to like."

She's frustrated and may have a death wish.  She feels responsible for Eugene getting taken because she missed her shot at Negan.  She feels bad about Eugene and getting the woman, who kept the weapons at Alexandria, killed.  And she's taking it out on everyone else.

Agreed. We just can't lose her, though.

So my wife and I were watching tonight after  Rick fights the gladiator zombie and yells up to Jadis tell us what you want and we will get it.I said  she wants a shrubbery. My wife looks at me and says you really are a nerd.
I made the exact same joke. My girlfriend laughed even though she's still all in and I'm fully in post-season three Sons of Anarchy hate-watching mode.

Willing to deal with a lot to get through to the (hopefully) payoff of a full blown war.

But the garbage pail kids were a lot to deal with. So stupid.

As a seasoned zombie killer, Rick did a really piss poor job vs Wilfred in the pit. He smashed a computer keyboard over a helmet? How about a thrust shot to the unprotected throat to try and separate that head off of the body?

If that battle was supposed to impress the scavengers, it wouldn't have.

I think the idea was more that it showed the leader how the group rallied together and cared for each other.  Michonne was helping Rick through the pipe.  But yes, Rick looked like he'd never fought a walker before.  And Winslow I think was the name.

I like that a few months ago (in story time) Gabriel was doing all he could to separate himself from Rick's group, and he disappears with all this stuff and only rosita seems to think maybe he left them again. I know the first half of this season was showing his transformation but the guy is all of a sudden holding people with a knife at their throat.

The only reason I can see for another random group to show up on another random episode is that this group may turn into a group that we see later in the comics. Would be rewriting the story line but they were acting this is kind of the only thing that makes sense. Why RIck is all chippet to recruit this group is beyond me, didn't exactly look like strong warriors.

My guess though is that Andrew Lincoln and some of the others on the show will be out of here by the time the story would ever get to that. There have been rumblings for last year or 2, but I can't see some of these actors and actresses wanting to continue to commit to this if they were discontent as of a year or 2 ago

Watching the Garbage Pail Kids thinking ... Lucille would look good in this womans forehead.

Curious as to where Ricks group will find any guns / ammo  ... while Richard is content with handing his sidearm over to start the episode.

.... and now how will Morgan fight without his stick?

I haven't heard any rumors about cast discontent but we are in Season 7. That's a long time for anyone to be on a TV show, even a highly successful one. Would not be a surprise at all if Lincoln or others wanted to move on the near future.

Actors turning down an acting gig, and the pay check, because they don't like how the show is going?

Why in the world didn't Tara tell RIck at the end of the episode when he mentioned she has been out to areas they haven't been? I honestly want to like this show so much, but some things they do make no sense.

And I ask these not to ##### and complain just hoping someone can help make sense of some of their decisions again

Was that in the comics? That was really bad. No clue why WhoeverTheLeaderWas couldn't speak like a normal human.
Not at all in the comics, thank god. This is all the tv show stuff, and you can really see a huge difference between what kirkman wrote and what they have now

Well, I think Tara had a decent bond with the daughter of the leader of the group and she made a promise to not reveal their location.  I assume she'll lead Rick to them soon, since they need their help.

There has been too much violence, too much pain. None here are without sin, but I have an honorable compromise. Just walk away. Leave the pump, the oil, the gasoline, and the whole compound, and I spare your lives. Just walk away. I will give you safe passage in the wasteland. Just walk away and there will be an end to the horror. I await your answer. You have one full day to decide.

Because she promised the girl who helped her she wouldn't tell anyone about them. She's keeping her promise for now. Makes perfect sense to me. I would assume at some point she will tell Rick but she's trying to do what she believes is the right thing.

Really?  They pretty much telegraphed that at the end of the episode.  They may as well have had a text scroll up on the screen that said "Tara is going to tell Rick about the Oceanside Girls Club soon".

Kingdom has weapons too. At some point something will happen that will force Zeke into the game. Can't see him sitting on the sidelines the whole time.

Lol.

You go. Pain bad. Life hard. Garbage Pail kids good. Very collectible.

The choreographed circular walk out of the tunnel was stupid.  I personally think it was the dumbest thing I have ever seen on the show.  It looked stupid for one, and mostly it just made no sense.  Also, Rick and his group didn;t even get to see them do it cause they came out of the tunnel close to last, not that them seeing it would really have mattered anyway.  And lastly, just why?  Every part of that was horrible.  None of it was even "meh", it was all horrible.  Worst 15 seconds in TV history.

I did love the jacked up zombie on spike-roids.  That dude had to have been a monster even before becoming a monster.

I like that Darryl actually talks again.

Yeah, been pretty obvious since the Oceanside episode that they would get guns from them.

The CGI tiger in the cage was pretty bad.  And got worse when Daryl reached in to pet it.  This tiger has been in movies before.
that was groan worthy. I get that the tiger was in a zoo before this (not sure if the tv show explained any of this or not).

I think what I am trying to do in my own head is just completely stop taking the show seriously like it wants to be a top TV series. It is apparent that they don't, and will be easier to accept all of its faults if I can just admit that the show doesn't care either. AMC simply has it as a revenue generator with it's weekly give away of products on Talking Dead, and will bleed it dry the best they can.

Funniest part to all of this is Fear the Walking Dead. There are already multiple Walking Dead spinoffs that are pretty good stories (the mobile game with Clementine has been pretty good). So easy to do half of these things, not sure how this franchise has made so many mistakes year after year

I didn't understand what the purpose of it was. If all they wanted to do was surround them just surround them.

yeah it was closer to that. Lincoln wants to grow his career and not be stuck in this role past that window you mention. Carl seems out. I can't remember but there was 1 or 2 other main characters that have said things. Not really like they need to jump off a sinking ship, more in line with "we have done this for 7-8 years, let's move on to the next thing"

Chandler Riggs is going to college. He's denied the rumors that he wants off the show and is trying to figure out a way to do both if possible.

I've said before that if AMC decides to continue the show without Lincoln I'm done. I've seen other successful shows try to carry on without the lead character and it was a miserable failure every time. Thinking specifically of The X-Files without Duchovny and even The Office without Steve Carell.

Meh, they just want more money.  Threatening to walk away is a pretty good negotiating tactic when the show would end without you.

Of course. It helped Duchovny get paid for an 8th season of The X-Files he wanted no part of doing anymore. But then he left for good, the ratings went straight into the toilet in the ninth season without him and FOX had no choice but to cancel it.

I don't see how Andrew Lincoln could escape Rick Grimes.  I hadn't seen him/his work before TWD, so he will forever be Rick Grimes in my eyes.  Like Gilligan.
