***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (3 Viewers)

And then there were five...Rick, Glenn, Carl, Carol, and Daryl are all that remain of the original Atlanta group.
It's sad watching that 12 minute deleted scene from between season 1 and 2 and seeing that more than half the characters on it are now dead. It's also sad seeing how in that scene they actually talked things out in a logical fashion as real people would and didn't just make offscreen ####-eyed plans that don't make sense.
Preach!

Agreed. I can't wait until Rick plants his seed...in Beth. She's definitely asking for it, but Rick has been too dumb to notice. Big surprise.
C'mon. Rick caught the food and now he is keeping it around until Carl notices it and starts to play with the food. Rick is being a good father by showing Carl that there is some kitty to play with.

What will really throw Rick into insanity is if Carl starts to look at Glenn and gets jealous of Maggie because she is tapping the pizza boy. Carl may want to have Glenn deliver him some pizza. If that happens, Rick will probably off himself.
You make MOP seem sane in comparison.

In case I'm ever in a similar situation, how exactly does one get out of handcuffs with a pair of pliers?
you don't.
Didn't pay close attention to this part, and already deleted from DVR. I assumed she was removing the arm of the chair so she wouldn't be cuffed to it. Not removing the cuffs themselves. Was that not the case?
It think she was still wearing a cuff in her final scene.
Yes she did. I thought the pliers could separate the chain between the cuffs so manipulating the chain would break the chain but leaving a cuff on each wrist.
I just assumed she ANNOYED the cuffs off of her.

the lack of closure with the governor situation is what really got me... i don't understand carrying his storyline into another season.

(i haven't read the graphic novels and not sure how big of a part he ends up playing... but come on!)
im assuming hes going to form another renegade army for another final showdown and when he dies will be the end of the series. i just dont see them finding a cure and they cant just continue the show with them running around from farm to farm shooting zombies.. even though i would probably still wtach that
That's it? End of the series? No other groups to run across?

There's so much they could do with the storyline but they wimped out and pushed what was already a dragged out story and didn't conclude it. We're supposed to be stoked for a new season and a new direction. Can't wait? I can. I'll watch when it comes back but I can't imagine the premiere being all that exciting. Maybe a zombie will squash Hershel's tomatoes and he'll go crazy.
I don't understand you guys saying the issue with the governor wasn't "concluded". He lost. His vision of a society is done. The end. He may be lurking out there ready to strike some other day, but the main story of the season, which was whether these two groups could live in proximity of each other or not was solved. They couldn't The. End.
Nobody cared about his vision for Woodbury. The only difference is that they don't know where the Governor is now. He's not going to give up on coming after them so nothing has changed.
Big ####ing deal? So for every subplot in a tv show to have "closure", someone has to die?
I don't care if the Governor dies - he could live and disappear forever for all I care - but it's already been announced that he plays a major part in season 4.
Do you have any point in any of these comments?
That the issue with the governor wasn't concluded.
But it was. Rick's group won. Goodbye.

Multiple quotes are brutal on the new mobile version. It quotes one letter per line. I quoted all of the nonsense above just to prove my point.

You might need to talk with Sheldon Cooper about some things. He is better at this than you.

Good one.

That one pic pretty much sums up the writing for this show:

And those answers about Andrea were ridiculous. The prison over woodbury was a good reason and obvious...but to say the audience was too stupid to realize that they knew more than Andrea? BS...we all know when she knew the gov was a bad guy...and she still got in the car to go back with him...she should've killed him and everyone knew it...so they had her sign off with "i just didn't want anyone else to die" BS.

Horrible attempt at filling that gaping hole.

And the answer for why she kept staring at Milton was crap also..."how do you know how anyone will act when they're strapped to a chair with an impending zombie about to eat them?"

I'll still watch...I have no other zombie show to watch...so I'll take this piece of crap until HBO or someone wakes up and gives me something better.

Carl did the right thing. "Drop your gun" means drop it, now.

Smart law enforcement SOP actually. Kid didnt listen, should have, had every opportunity to drop the rifle. The fact hr didn't you have to assume he had a plan to resist.

Even that scene was done stupidly...the kid hesitates so much and has this devious look on his face like he's about to double-cross and fake putting down the weapon.

Carl was justified...how are we as viewers supposed to buy that Carl may be slipping into Shane territory if they show it such a way that it was a good shoot?Or at the very least...have Dale Jr tell Rick the whole truth..."Well Rick...the dude was lagging on dropping the weapon...he acted like he was going to drop it...but in real slow motion...he simply took too long and Carl blasted him before we could really see if the guy was going to drop it or not."

And the damn reason they didn't just shut the gates and lock "the others" in...setting them on fire or just shooting them like fish in a barrel was because we had to have Rick take the whole town in and gov had to escape...just dumb. So many other ways to accomplish that goal that would've actually made some sense...This show just does not deserve it's ratings or all the money it's raking in...the writers just don't give a damn...they know they have a cash cow and are just mailing it in every freakin' week.

Have there been some absurd plots and stories? Sure. But is anyone tuning in expecting Shakespearean writing?

Give me a few good zombie decapitations and blood splattered everywhere and I'm generally happy. This isn't 60 Minutes. It's a show where you have fun watching while you turn your brain off for a little while. They only annoyances are the terribly miscast actors that you want to punch in the face:

-Dale (#1 with a bullet)

-Andrea

-Guv

To name a few.

Careful, they don't take too kindly to complaints in here. This is the thread for blind, unwavering loyalists of the show.

We should take a break from complaining and remember that we got to watch Michonne decapitate 2 zombies with one swing.

Perhaps I've been spoiled by great writing on other shows and don't think we should have to put up with lousy writing simply because the show has zombies on it. AMC seems to think, and perhaps rightly so, that the audience for this show has little expectation of good writing and will continue to watch no matter what because they want to see zombies killed.

i think complaints are fine but why would you waste you time on a show that is a "piece of crap" or that you have so many issues with? If i watched a show and had so many complaints about it I would just stop watching. that doesnt make any sense to me.

Do you guys have that much free time on your hands that you can spend hours watching something that doesnt measure up to your standards?

 I'm enjoying the show..

Are there plot holes and  moments.. Sure.. but in the end the show entertains me for the hour it is on and has me looking forward to next weeks episode..

It could be worse.. a show like the Following makes this look like The Godfather. ;)

I'm enjoying it too, but it could be so much better if they put a little more effort into it. For example, they rewrote the finale to include the Andrea/Milton scene but made it laughable by having Andrea stop and talk to Milton in the middle of it. Instead of making her seem to be a tragic character it made her look like an idiot.

Mazzara's version called for Andrea to be killed without escaping and Tyreese finding her after she's dead. That scene was re-shot just so they could have Andrea meet up with Rick's group before she died. That's fine but at least film it so that it doesn't make Andrea look stupid (or have magical handcuff skills).

Then there's the tiny, unnecessary errors like Rick giving her a gun that doesn't have a safety right after she makes the safety joke (which itself was horrible in that moment) and then having a shell hit the ground on gun that doesn't eject a shell when it's fired.

We should take a break from complaining and remember that we got to watch Michonne decapitate 2 zombies with one swing.
Yeah, but they filmed that shot too close up and they cut away too quickly. Didn't even give us enough time to appreciate the kill. The double head slice could've been SO much cooler!(kidding of course)

Dang, you have a ton of time on your hands don't you ;)

Shell ejecting from a gun that wouldn't eject shells?? WOW.. and my wife thinks I take my shows too seriously. :pokey:

The show is over until October. Looking forward to hearing all of all the petty nuances people have about a zombie/apocalypse show, instead of actual discussion.....

I thought that sound was the gun hitting the ground, but didn't really pay attention too close to the sound details.

I think people complain because they wrecked a good show -- not because it was never good.

that's a legit complaint.

at this point, you can pretty much just d/l eps of the a-team.

I honestly can't get worked up about anything regarding Andrea in the finale. I think the writers were aware of how badly her character had been butchered this season and tried some last-minute repair work. It didn't really work because at that point all hope had been lost by how ignorant her character had behaved the entire season. So if the scene wasn't written well or whatever I can't get too bothered by it. She was a lost cause at that point.

Overall, though, I think this is a great show. I think all aspects of it are extremely well done. It doesn't always blast home runs out of the park every week but I think the show has been terrific and I can't wait for each new episode. That's enough for me.

Have there been some absurd plots and stories? Sure. But is anyone tuning in expecting Shakespearean writing?
That's such a copout. No one is expecting Shakespeare. We're just expecting what we were sold (and what we had) at the beginning.

The writing on this show used to be good. We got sucked in by a show that was a realistic portrayal of a zombie apocalypse (assuming you were willing to expect the unrealistic idea of zombies as the basis) where people acted like people really would in such a situation and dealt with problems that would really come up in that situation.

What we have now is basically an action flick that's short on action, where character motivations are all over the place and make no sense and where realism and fight choreography are ignored in order to get the characters/story into a certain position. I'm fine with forcing characters into stupid decisions and inconsistent behavior to move the story along in an action movie. I'm fine with adjusting the limits of a person's skill (headshotting from 50 yards with a pistol one day while missing from 20 yards with a rifle the next) and tactics (let's just make really loud noise to make them run off and then go chasing after those 60 people with 3 of us) to create action in an action movie/series. None of that is what The Walking Dead was until recently. It's one thing to have that stuff in something that clearly establishes that it's that kind of show, it's another to have it in a show that has established itself as something else.

I also wouldn't be ok with Jesse Pinkman taking out the entire Mexican drug cartel in a warehouse with a pistol while dodging bullets with backflips. However, I'm ok with Arnold Schwarzenegger doing it to an entire terrorist organization in True Lies.

The only real issue I had with this season was with Andrea. I thought her character was butchered and her actions typically made little sense and were not given any meaningful form of justification until the very end and by then it was too late. I thought the character development for all of the other main characters was quite good. I thought the writing was typically strong and often superb. I have no significant complaints with the show. I wish the finale had been stronger but I still liked it.

If others think the show has slipped that's their opinion. This won't be the first or last show which sees fans begin to lose interest, voice displeasure etc. For me, it remains by far my favorite show on TV. Nothing happened this season that would lead me to feel any other way.

I'm going to agree with you....and then disagree with you here.

The writing was never that great in the first place. I think it's been pretty much the same throughout the series.

Yeah, I'm not sure where all this "the show used to be great, and now they're ruining it" talk is coming from. Same as day one imo.

Do you normally continue to watch shows with bad writing for three seasons? I think that's a waste of time.

She's a woman. Her motives and actions made perfect sense. If you take the character from the beginning...she's nothing more than a follower....a person easily swayed by a more powerful personality. She was going to kill herself because another woman wanted to. She was a disicple of Dale for awhile. Shane turned her on and she got faux tough. She hooked up with Michonne and immediately became her #####. And when The Governor threw her some lumber....she became a Real Housewife of Woodbury......all the while she's playing the "mamby-pamby" Civil Rights lawyer(which she was before) angle that there is no black and white...only grey in regards to choosing sides and having to see people get got.

I think the problem with the character is that is seems like the creators/writers are/were trying too hard to project her as a character that we should have sympathy for. She's nothing but a #### up.

I didn't notice that myself and saw it pointed out on another board. Even though it's minor why do it when it's so easy to do right?

Where the show has failed with her specifically and the others generally is in the idea that they should be showing flashbacks to their lives before the #### hits the fan. If they did that....and showed her as a real "gray area liberal" (and I don't really mean to bring politics into it....I just can't think of a better term)....you'd understand more the actions of the character.

Nothing happened this season that would lead me to feel any other way.
I agree with this. What was Andrea supposed to do? I think people underestimate the attraction of a safe functioning town in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Her best case scenario for survival was to convince the Governor to leave Rick's crew alone and to maintain her favored position at Woodbury. That is exactly what she did.

I liked Andrea's character evolution through Season 2. She went from being someone who had lost all hope to being a strong, independent character whose primary flaw was highly suspect taste in men. I could appreciate her staying in Woodbury after Michonne left because she was hoping for a sense of normalcy (although that was a stretch but I was willing to accept it). But once she saw the walker heads and the fish tank and Merle and Daryl in the Thunderdome she should've hit the road ASAP. Pretty much every moment with her character after that only served to undermine everything about her I liked before. Again by the end it felt more like a mercy killing when she died as opposed to a powerful loss on the show (which seems to me is what the writers tried to do if they did re-write Mazarra's original script). I didn't care anymore about her which is too bad because I had grown to like her character a lot by the end of Season 2 when she was in the woods alone and Michonne saved her.

Have there been some absurd plots and stories? Sure. But is anyone tuning in expecting Shakespearean writing?
That's such a copout. No one is expecting Shakespeare. We're just expecting what we were sold

The writing on this show used to be good. .
I'm going to agree with you....and then disagree with you here.

The writing was never that great in the first place. I think it's been pretty much the same throughout the series.
Do you normally continue to watch shows with bad writing for three seasons? I think that's a waste of time.
Thanks.
