They are going to cross into the 28 Days Later universe IMO.I thought it was...Something along the lines of "you will be safe here".. but it was broken up and not very clear.. Then they lost the single, got swarmed by the thousands of Zombies and never discussed it again.

At least the show is coming up with unique scenes regarding the zombies. People certainly can't complain about that. Well, except people in this thread of course. The show finds cool and new ways to introduce/kill zombies, and people here look too far into it and complain about it, when those same people would no doubt complain if the show wasn't doing so. In fact, there are quite a few pages in this very thread that do so back when they thought the show was becoming "stale" with the ways the walkers were introduced/killed. Give me a break.

It's a cheesy gimmick. I don't care about creative ways to introduce/kill zombies but I guess that they're are millions of people who do.

As I said, there are a few pages here in this thread that discuss the lack of creativity regarding this aspect. So yeah, people do care. Whether or not it's "gimmicky", I'm sure most don't care. Those that do probably are past the point of watching/caring.

If you watch that scene again the zombie was barely buried under an inch of soil, flat on it's back, and suddenly as soon as the 2'x2' sign is moved it has the strength to get up and hold onto the girl. It also was patient enough to let the girl clean off and read the sign before attacking her.

i remember reading that sometimes the zombies ''sleep'' until they are stimulated ? Like the time Hershal got bit in the leg from a zombie laying against a wall in the prison. Im guessing that zombie got buried and just layed there until it was disturbed by the little girl...just a theory.cstu said:

'Walking Dead' creator sues AMC over profits
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The creator of "The Walking Dead" is suing AMC over what he claims is an effort to deny him tens of millions of dollars in profit from the hit drama.
Oscar-nominated writer-director Frank Darabont ("The Shawshank Redemption," ''The Green Mile") and Creative Arts Agency filed suit Tuesday in New York Supreme Court against defendants including AMC Network Entertainment LLC.
Their suit claims that despite four seasons of "unprecedented programming success and profitability" for the defendants, Darabont hasn't received any profits for developing the series.
AMC declined Wednesday to comment on the suit, which also alleges that Darabont was fired as producer without cause. He developed "The Walking Dead" from Robert Kirkman's comic book series about zombies.
The lawsuit alleges that AMC decided to produce the series in-house and paid itself a deliberately low license fee to air it, engaging in what the suit labels "the improper and abusive practice of 'self-dealing.'"
"The sole goal of this sham transaction is to enhance the profits of the parent company by minimizing the revenues that go into the 'pool' of funds for the show's profit participants," the suit alleges.
The suit reflects others filed by creators of successful TV shows, including "Will & Grace." When a studio licenses a show to be aired by an affiliated network or cable channel, the fee can fail to reflect fair market value and diminish payments to creators and others, such lawsuits argue.
Darabont's legal action follows his clouded exit from "The Walking Dead" early in its second season and critical public comments he has made about AMC.
His suit claims that a formal agreement called for him to be paid as if the series were produced by an unaffiliated studio engaging in "true arm's length negotiations over license fees."
As of December 2012, two years after the show debuted, AMC's participation statements show "The Walking Dead" had a $49 million deficit to overcome before Darabont or CAA would see "their first dollar of profits."
"AMC's sham imputed license fee formula is clearly designed to ensure plaintiffs never see that first dollar," the suit contends.

Not that this will ever make it to a court of law, but can you imagine the lawyers/beancounters AMC would have to break out to try and convince a jury that TWD is really 49M in the red after three seasons? In what world is that even possible? This show has so many commercials in a one hour product placement embellished show it's amazing anyone has the patience to watch it anymore...... $49M deficit....

i don't know a thing about how the business went down here, but suggesting the Walking Dead creator is Darabont is pure lunacy. I can't tell if the author is hoping for love from Darabont, or is really this dopey, but to suggest the walking dead exists because of Darabont is just silly

Even sporting events...I'll start a bit after the game has started...for football, I've found somewhere around 45 minutes to be good for me to end right around the game ends without having to see a commercial.

I noticed that as well, but lets think about it a bit. Zombies are dead and decaying, right? In season 1, the zombies were the first zombies we ever saw after Rick woke up, i.e. maybe a couple weeks after the virus took hold and spread. Based on zombies getting created, almost all of them would have been fresh. Most zombies we see now could have been around for quite a while, even a year or so (not entirely sure on timeline). I think the creator has said many times that some zombies are different (i.e. dormant ones versus wanderers), so with all so fresh at that time, I think you would have just had a lot more of the bunch be "active" and you would think that the more "active" they are the faster they would decay and not last. The dormant ones would last the longest and one would think they are slower.Watching season 1 again and all I can do is laugh at the running and climbing zombies.
That said I probably just put more time into thinking about it than the original show folks did for early season 1. You are correct, that some of the climbing fence ones in the first few scenes went a bit far. Oh well, they decided that was a bit much, otherwise trying to survive in Woodbury/the prison/the farm would have been damn near impossible.

Yeah, we were watching a couple of the old episodes over the last couple days and noticed the zombies used to be a lot faster. Like the scene with Shane and the fat guy in the school. They were running down the halls after them. Fast forward to this past season with the Governor sidestepping a zombie because he was so slow. Doesn't quite make sense.Watching season 1 again and all I can do is laugh at the running and climbing zombies.
There was even a zombie trying to break the glass of the store using a rock.

The walkers starving actually makes a lot of sense. Have to think their food supply is diminishing with each passing day. I wonder if this is a storyline that will be pursued at some point.

Agreed, that makes sense to me, as does my comment above. The more active zombies would require more food and thus they should slow down quickly and thus more become dormant/slower.
That said, the fence climbing was a little over the top, not due to the running, but due to the lack of motor skills since the brain is basically dead other than the hunger to feed. They shouldn't be able to process the thoughts about going over the fence, they should only see Glen/Rick and want to go through the fence. That is why a herd is so dangerous because they can get the force to break down barriers.
There would also be "new" zombies, but again, the ratio of new zombies to old zombies is getting less and less as the still alive numbers dwindle. You would think that at this point, the people who are "safe" have already created the Woodburys or found safe havens that they can protect and survive in, so fighting (where most people will do headshots to make sure people stay dead as we have seen) or natural causes will create most new ones.
Kirkman has said zombies are different, so even with new ones, they might not all be fast. In the early shows with so many new zombies, there should be a decent amount of fast ones, but fence climbing was just wrong IMHO.

It has been adressed in this thread already, that the producers stated they wished they never had those fence climbing/athletic zombies in the show. They made that before they really knew the direction they were going to go regarding the zombies. Then it was concluded that the zombies would be more "slower" like they are now, and it was too late.

Just an FYI, but in most zombie lore, Zombies have no need of food, and it does not sustain them at all. The body is dead, including things like the digestive process.
They have a ravenous HUNGER and need to feed, but that is the zombie virus, not a biological urge.
You are correct, I didn't word that right. I meant that they would require more energy, i.e. exert energy, which should wear down the dead body faster. They don't get nutrition from what they eat. Go to youtube and watch all the previews. Definitely saw Beth and Daryl, Carl and Rick, but Glenn looked to be alone. It almost looked like maybe he is still at the prison, kind of a weird scene and hard to tell. I think I remember Bob and Sasha, but not sure. Also, Michonne looked to be alone. I'm just going off of memory, but it seemed like they showed us most of the groupings.
