Was it just me or did Maggie all of a sudden develop a deep southern accent?
shes British in real life but always had a deep southern accent in this show
I know she's British. just never noticed that accent was so thick before.
Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed her overly strong accent in this episode. Thought it was really strange when I heard it.
yep same here

I thought Glenn did a real good job of stocking up before he left the prison. I thought that scene did a good job of showing how effective they are at scavenging and finding ways to survive.
Every damn last one of them (except the bus fodder )fled on foot and completely bypassed the six or seven running cars the governor's people drove to the freaking front gates.
Like posted above "it's like no one watches while watching" At the time most escaped, the tank & people were still firing at the prison. Also, the zombie herd was streaming in from the broken fence area.
Tyreese and Maggie's groups maybe went out e other way, but Michonne was right there carving up the governor, and the tank was done when Rick/Carl and Daryl/Beth left (as several shots of the bad special effect smoke bomb behind the tank tell us). And we know Glen for sure went out the front.

Since Daryl and Beth ended up on the tracks, maybe they went out via a alternate route (because apparently it's good to put prisons in places with lots of approaches and exit roads), but then you have to figure Rick and Michonne took the same route since they found each other.

So at a minimum, Rick, Glen, and Michonne (two thirds of whom are battered or weak from illness) all bypassed working vehicles during their escapes.

At least Tyreese asked Carol about getting her car. Here reasoning of why not to go back for it made sense, but doesn't explain why she left it in the first place.

A big part of the MASH series finale is Hawkeye dealing with a suppressed memory of a woman smothering a baby to death to prevent its crying from giving away the location of a busload of refugees to enemy soldiers.

thanks. it's all coming back now...
Did you repress the memory of the most overrated series finale in TV history? ;)
As a packers fan I assume you are an expert on things over rated.

Lizzie is all kinds of awesome. They have the opportunity to make TV history if she goes full psycho.

MASH finale, Bradys sharing a bed, and Lizzie the homicidal child has all kind of potential.

She already one shotted the lesbian in the head, disected a rat and tried to choke out a baby, I would watch a Lizzie centric episode.

If Lizzie was at the bus with Maggie she would have burned that bus down and been like quit crying your boyfriend was already dead.

So the only two survivors left from Woodbury are the two girls?
Tyrese and Sasha were in Woodbury too after Rick booted them from the prison. But if you mean original inhabitants it would appear so.
What about Bob?
Daryl found him during one of his runs after the Woodbury folks had been brought in.
 should have read further before posting. thought i finally caught something in this thread before others did :kicksrock:

Carl & Rick were inside the prison (bloody baby carrier) with the walkers streaming in, same thing with Beth & Darryl after Darryl blew up the tank. They would have had to escape the prison via another route. Michonne was the only one close enough to take a vehicle, but she prefers to walk with her zombie pets.

This also assumes the vehicles weren't shot to pieces in the assault and the Govenors lakeys were nice enough to leave the keys in the ignition. Because good luck hot wiring before you get eaten with all those walkers around.

Do you mean the gates that were being swarmed by zombies during the middle of a gun battle?

They weren't any more swarmed than anyplace else by that point. All the noise was up in the prison proper by then. Michonne was still strolling around down there after Herschel's Head turned without much difficulty. Anybody in good enough shape to run through the woods for a couple hours solid to evade zombies was more than capable of dodging enough to get into the protection of a car.

All this raises another question, namely, how did the bus even get out? Did we ever see another working gate or exit? Everybody either came out that front gate or through the slits in the chain link fence they had rigged. Yet, we see bullets spattering off the back of the bus as it drives off when to get out they should have had to drive towards the governor's men. Unless Lizzy was in full berserker mode and emptied a clip into the bus for leaving without her.....

I enjoyed the episode, but I must say that I am unhappy that Judith is alive. I know the show is not the comics, etc etc, but the way they left that (bloody carrier) would have been a good way to leave it, and it has a significant effect on Rick and his (lack of) sanity. Relatively dark, but not on-screen.

Sure, we wouldn't have seen psycho smothering the baby in this episode, and TBH, that made me more squeemish than the bloody carrier and thinking about that.

I don't know why it really bothers me that Judith is still alive. Most likely just cause I've read the comics and how it all goes down there, I guess. Seems like a cop-out from the writers in this case. Not a cop-out or bad writing like some people complain about, just they had an opportunity to explore a fairly dark turn and how it affected Rick, and chose the "feel-good" method that lets them have the baby cry to attract walkers as needed.

Now, that said, I still really enjoyed the episode, felt it was a logical continuation of the previous episode and am looking forward to the new characters.

I believe Hawkeye was also pressuring the woman to silence the baby, which led to his guilt. I only saw the finale when it aired live, so I was only 10 or so, but I think they show in his repressed memory that the lady is choking (make that silencing) a chicken. When he realizes what has happened, they show the woman with a dead baby in her arms. Actually watching Lizzie choke out Judith with glee was more bothersome (or it could be that at age 10 I didn't really appreciate what was going on in the MASH flashback).

My seesaw reaction between last week and this week made me wonder:Am I hate-watching this show now? If I am, should I be? What does it even mean to hate-watch a show with Nielsen domination this all-encompassing? How much joy can one really get from begrudging something its tsunami-like pop culture success?

While hate-watching can be fun in the short term, I think in the long term it’s likely to cause an ulcer. So here’s my new attitude toward The Walking Dead: I’m hope-and-cringe-watching. I hope any given episode will be fun in some bizarre way, even if it is preposterous, and I cringe whenever the show takes itself too seriously.

The Walking Dead will never be Breaking Bad, but it doesn’t have to be. To me, it’s an almost perfect perpetual motion machine for constructing mindless, escapist entertainment: There’s an endlessly revolving cast for whom to root, loathe, or shudder. (And even when they’re given too much gristle on which to chew, the actors are all well above Xena: Warrior Princess rerun level.) At its best, The Walking Dead can keep me hooked even when it makes me moan — but when it tries too hard to beZombie Hamlet, my eyes glaze over like Beth’s.
Pretty good summary.

Being a long time fan of the zombie genre what i love about this show are the moments they make me feel pity for the zombies. The very first episode i felt bad for the zombie bicycle girl, when she was crawling aimlessly through the woods and rick shot her.I felt bad for the black wife zombie roaming around her old hood ,going to her house and the husband couldnt find the courage to end her existence. Sophia coming out of the barn after the group held out so much hope she was alive. The governor's daughter ...the only time i ever felt any connection to a zombie in any movie ever was in day of the dead ,the zombie Bub. They made him with human characteristics ,not just a mindless eating machine. This show makes you realize that zombies arent just monsters ,they are family members and friends, neighbors and co-workers...they are us.

Did Maggie apologize to the zombie after bashing it's face into the side of the bus?

She did...i also left out the scene when Andrea`s sister came back from the dead ...that was a great scene

If I was that guy on the side of the tracks that got bit in the neck, I would have asked Tyresse to shoot me in the head.

Tyresse probably would have missed and shot him in the gut causing him more pain. IIRC they left the guy's gun at the scene. Though maybe he was out of ammo.

Fido.

Obviously Maggie is hot as hell but I am way beyond tired of the Maggie/Glen romance. It has played out, kill one or both of them off PLEASE!!!

If Tyresse had finished him off it would have been one less walker attacking Beth & Darryl.

I enjoyed the episode, but I must say that I am unhappy that Judith is alive.
There's an unwritten rule in some TV circles that you never introduce a baby into a drama. It almost never works and tends to create unnecessary problems. For that reason I was a bit apprehensive about Judith on this show and continue to be. That said, I didn't think for a second they were going to kill her off during the Governor's attack. Even on a show like this that would've been a really dark turn. But the longer the baby is on the more holes the writers will get put into. It's hard to write a baby out of certain situations, especially on a violent show like this one.

I was hoping Rick really died last week. He's such a weirdo.

If the group consisted of only Daryl, Carl, Maggie, Glen, and Carol they would the show would rock.

Were we supposed to recognize the zombies on the bus as Woodbury people?
I didn't, but the way they talked about them, it made it obvious.
how did they all turn? if they were attacked by zombies, wouldn't they have been eaten?
The gov's group shot the back of the bus as it was driving off. I assume at least one passenger was hit, died, and turned. Chain reaction from there when it's a bus full of relatively helpless (and nameless) characters.

I was watching for the bus driver (black lady... Janette?) but never saw her.

Needs some Walton Goggins to really reach the next level.
