***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (3 Viewers)

Why is Abraham just kneeling there meditating? What's going through his mind?
It's all for the symbolism...the writers had a "neato" name for the episode so once again they sacrifice normal behavior to suit that need. So we have an episode of religious iconography all episode long. Guys continually on their knees, preacher nailing his foot in the most awkward, ignorant and impossible way, mentions of the cross, defiling the church, water, etc.
Good job.

All good catches

I wish i watched as closely or cared to look for that stuff.
yeah- nice work there.

written all out like that, it's so obvious- but I missed it too.

That must have been hella strong glass to knock Sasha unconscious.
You're gonna have two or three people explain to you how it's special reinforced glass. Like the simple pane of glass that kept that horde at bay earlier in this season or how the church windows are all intact with the premise there were live people outside trying to get in and someone taking time to scratch on the walls a sentence complete with apostrophe's...rather than take a simple rock to the damn window or burn it down with him inside.
Please just stop watching the show. You are single-handedly ruining this thread. What a miserable existence you must have where you can't just sit back and enjoy a show that obviously, by its ratings, millions of people enjoy. At first, it seemed like shtick, but you bring back little nuggets like the horde with the hunter group that makes me think you literally watch and re-watch shows and take notes to make sure you don't miss each and every detail.

I honestly don't care for the response, sort of rhetorical, but what do you get out of watching the show and trying to instigate the "apologists"?

Fun show with borderline laughable adherence to physics and common sense. Not sure why we can't leave it at that.
Agreed. Then again, probably a ton of OCD folks on this forum. It reminds me of that Howard Stern movie where they talked about his ratings when they wanted to fire him from one station and they mentioned that he had the highest length of listeners and that his detractors actually listened longer than his fans. That may have been Hollywood enhanced, but I am sure there is some truth to it. Look at tdoss, he is the one posting about all the symbolism on the show, yet he hates it and thinks it is trash.

1. Why did Maggie pull a gun on Abraham. Seemed pretty idiotic.

2. Loved the water filtration system. Let's wait 2 hours to get 8 ounces of water which we'll then boil. Does boiling the water not purify it? Me ain't no rocket scientist.

3. Why is Tyreese going out on a hunt and shoot? Shouldn't he be staying home watching the baby?

There was a heck of a lot going on with last night's episode with plenty of opportunities for action but instead we get to watch water being filtered and fish being caught.
See, it's a bit of a catch-22. There are people who complain when the show doesn't adequately address basic survival issues. For example, someone was complaining that there wasn't enough screen time dedicated to the importance of antibiotics, even though the issue dominated at least two major plot movements. The filtering water and finding food scenes address the "where the hell are they getting clean water and food from when they're one the move?!?" critics. But having those scenes lead to complaints about covering the seemingly mundane at the expense of action sequences and plot movement.
This was actually a pretty significant moment in plot/character development, since Rosita has lost her purpose and it showed that she has decided to integrate into the group and focus on day-to-day survival now that there's no reason to follow Abraham.

There was also a lot of Jesus stuff going on, with the fish and the metaphorical baptism into the group.

The writing is really heavy-handed, but not as horribly pointless as some people seem to think.

Don't think they intended on boiling it, I thought they said they DIDN'T have to boil with that technique.

Pretty sure she said they were going to boil it. Seems to me the "filter" was for getting the mud out of the water.

Heh. You are right "It takes a little bit, but then it will be clear and we can boil it"

She did say she was going to boil it. I thought boiling gets rid of all the potential germs. Not sure though. I can't imagine having the water running through some dirt/rocks is going to contribute anything. If it didn't purify the water, then it seems a material waste of time. drip..... drip...... drip.

So its strictly a cosmetic thing? you'd think people who are probably used to eating 12 month old canned food wouldn't mind brownish water.

Really??? I ended up stepping on a couple nails when I was a carpenters helper.. It was very easy to step on them and not "impossible" as you say.

1. he looked like he was about to kill his mate..

So with all of the religious symbolism, I think it is inevitable that Gabriel redeems himself by sacrificing his life to save someone else.

Something tells me there might be a  death here at the midpoint break.. Just seems "time"...

Maybe Tyreese for not staying home to babysit.. :oldunsure:

Judith serves no purpose and never will. They really need to just get the "shocking" zombiebaby thing over with and move on.

it's going to be Carol.

they're going to rescue her, blow the #### out of yet another "sanctuary", and then she'll croak with everybody getting to say they forgive each-other (except for all the people from the hospital who are now either dead or left to fight for themselves.

Judith serves no purpose and never will. They really need to just get the "shocking" zombiebaby thing over with and move on.
she's the embodiment of "hope" and "future" for humanity- no way do they kill her. plus she also is a lazy-writer's easy out to draw zombies when things are looking a little quiet.

plenty of opportunity for that in this season.

well that and......at some point, when they decide a last season for TWD, she will end up being the cure..

ETA... Ah crap, I should have placed that in a spoiler tag. :wall:

So, is Eugene a zombie? He was breathing like one.

What is the lesbian not supposed to look at? (Glen told her walking out of the meadow)

Where does fake cop think he is going to get to?

Cliffhanger will be... that Rick and the lady cop know each other. She's been using a fake name so when they see each other, it will be a reunion of sorts.
I just want to know how/why that one telephone pole took out three people.
Was wondering the same thing. Like, three dudes were climbing the same pole and it went down?
I thought it was pretty obvious. The guy with the supplies climbed the pole, was surrounded by a crowd of zombies and when it came down it killed a few.

Candidates:

Carol

Darryl

Beth

II agree, I think someone is going to die
It's gonna happen.

And with Reedus reacting like this, I'm betting it's Beth. No way they kill Daryl or Carol off.
I wonder if they'll put Darryl in a position to choose which one to save....

(pure idle speculation on my part, no input from any spoilers/rumors etc)

You make some good points.

Part of me wanted to see more action this week, but I also appreciate that this ep is nicely setting up the midseason finale. It also was a pause to sort of check in on the mental state or current mindset of several of the key players in the show (Rick, Sasha, Beth, Abraham, Rosita, etc.).

That gives me a idea, we should talk Tim into watching that why he can explain to us how Zombies are a "net positive" on society and that all they need is a little help to be productive members of society.

Then he could start a thread titled the biggest lies about Zombies.

Not sure I said I hate it.I can't stand how a fan boy like yourself will defend it tooth and nail. You're finally coming around and losing the argument that this is in fact a poorly written and sometimes acted show. You're last defense is to pimp it's ratings...hell, American Idol used to top the ratings also...does that make it tv royalty?

There's nothing wrong with pointing out the obvious and yes, I definitely threw that "apologist" shot across the bow at your @zz in specific for saying, "tdoss is the worst".

The show is still fun and has a couple of my favorite subjects: zombies and post apocalyptic survival...but don't come in here defending it's every move like it can do no wrong. I love Game of Thrones but I can still admit and even point out that it made no sense to end a season with the White Walkers at the gates and then spend the next season without ever having to deal with that damn white walker horde at said gates.

I do not watch the show more than once...never saw a rerun or care for the marathons because I've already "lived that experience". If it was a solid as Breaking Bad or The Wire...I could see revisiting it but this show...no need

I'd rather you just admit your emperor wears no clothes or maybe stop being so offended when some of us point out flaws as if we said your baby was an ugly little troll...but most of all, I'd appreciate if you kept my name out ya mouth and do not engage me specifically without expecting me to come back at you for it and pointing at your little ugly troll baby.

On a side note...I think everyone should have a couple of these in their disaster kits:

Watch some videos of that thing...it's insane what people are able to drink from with those.

Think it was really just the way it was shot and acted that came off lame to me. Think it would've come off better had they not showed his feet while he tried to act that step. Didn't play well...could've just kept the frame they had of him and as he stood up...he winces...pan down and see the nail. The camera and he just did not pull that off well.

I think it's probably Carol or Beth...no way Daryl is going down.

Would like to see Tyrese die already...can't stand the character anymore and it'll take a lot to win me back.

Lezzy might be a candidate for death soon.

Abraham probably gonna die or sacrifice himself at some point soon.

One thing we can probably all agree on is that its not going to be an easy swap of prisoners. Been through this one before. Our Gang breaks into the hospital, leaving all doors open behind them. Zombies follow them in. Shots are fired. Hilarity ensues.

well it delved into the next episode, in which case many here get a little cranky if Spoiler isn't put on something that hasn't happened.. heck many here do thier best to avoid previews all week so as to not be "spoiled" ;)

The only reality sloppy writing moment I had was once the cop knocked Sasha out they should have taken the seconds to show him getting her knife and cutting himself loose and taking her gun instead of running away like a drunk on Cops.

All the BS about vans and what not can I can let slide, but NO ONE even the most idiotic person would leave a gun and knife on the ground in favor of running through a city full of zombies with his hands ties behind his back.

the title of the article for that link is....

What about Father Wussy prying up floorboards but neither Carl nor Michone (or the damn baby) hear him?

Or how about all of the damn racket they were making sealing up the church yet we all know walkers are attracted to sound.

Also :lmao: at the old orderly or whatever that Beth paid off to serve as a distraction? "cough-cough-cough I can't breathe! cough-cough-cough Help me!" Then Beth walks by "coug...nevermind, I'm good."

Hey, I can suspend belief or account some sort of plausible deniability. The Van thing was weak but there is no possible explanation at all why a guy with zip tied hands would run off with a knife lying on the ground....none.

Of course there will be some logical explanation next week and I will look like a fool.

The water reminded me of the water that was served to Marty McFly in the Back to the Future movie where he was in the past. Looked like just about the same consistency.

So I wonder if Rick and company win the battle (which based on prior seasons is a definite) will they now set up shop in the hospital?

Also once again I was pretty wasted last night but what was the deal with the big zombie herd with abes group and why were they just hanging out there?

The are just standing there because the firetruck died and Eugene was still laying there unconscious after his beating from Abraham. The herd is just a blocker put in the way of the group so they will turn back and rejoin Rick and the rest of the crew. Gives them no real other option on where to go, now that the DC "mission" is over.

Could see the deal with sasha at the end coming from a mile away but otherwise thought this was a good setup episode for next wk
Everybody saw it coming. Helen F-ing Keller saw it coming. The only one who didn't see it coming was Sasha because she is a character on TWD.
Showing once again in this universe the only people who survive the zombie apocalypse are the ones so stupid that they never should survive.
