When you don't nitpick every detail, this is a really good show. Granted I am a nitpicking kind of person about obvious things like not having seen a single person in a death mobile, like the dawn of the dead remake, but for a good zombie filled time, sign me up.

I would think if we actually did see someone with a "death mobile", that would be something to nitpick.

AMC’s The Walking Dead is adding another series regular.

Relative newcomer Ross Marquand will join the zombie drama based on Robert Kirkman’s long-running comics, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Marquand’s character will be introduced in the second half of the show’s fifth season and will be a series regular — with the likelihood to serve in the same capacity in the already announced sixth season.

While details on which character Marquand is playing are being kept under wraps, Kirkman previously noted on Talking Dead that a “prominent” gay character from his comics would be introduced in the second half of season five. Considering where AMC’s Walking Dead is in relation to the comics, all signs point to the character of Aaron being introduced, as the series could explore the Alexandria storyline next now that the group is reunited and back on the road looking for a new home. Aaron is a resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone, the longest-running location that the comics has yet to feature. Aaron is first introduced in issue 67 of the comics and serves as a recruiter — with his work partner and boyfriend, Eric. He first crosses paths with Rick’s group while they are on the road to Washington.

Marquand, meanwhile, counts Down and Dangerous, A Lonely Place for Dying and The Congregation among his credits. On the TV side, he has episodes of Mad Men and Phineas and Ferb — where he voiced Han Solo in its Star Wars episode — on his résumé. He’s repped by UTA, Leslie Allan-Rice Management and Myman Greenspan.

Marquand marks the latest addition to the series, which this season has already killed off three series regulars: Andrew J. West (Gareth), Lawrence Gilliard (Bob) and Emily Kinney (Beth). He joins new addition Alexandra Breckenridge as a new face for season five. Her character, whose details also are being kept under wraps, will be introduced in the back half of the season with an option to be promoted to regular in season six. (Casting breakdowns have indicated she may be playing Samantha, a character that isn’t in the comics but who may be a fake name.)

Thing is, chances are they would feel overly compelled (while drunk on shine) to use it as often as possible, and probably died quickly.

However, and I know I said this a long time ago in this thread, not sure if I think it's accurate anymore though. I mean, slow moving, and they don't re-animate quickly at all ranging from minutes to several hours.

Then I realize just how stupid the masses really are, and the looting would be incredible, the violence would be unstoppable, and the chaos would be of epic proportions. No utilities would work, no more gas made, no more food produced.........nothing.

In all honestly, I think the redneck country boys would be the best hope for humanity. They are content going out and hunting down some walkers and coming home for a pig roast and some shine, with all due respect to rednecks.

Problem is that the redneckers like to get in drunken fights and with no law around anymore, they are likely to shoot up a bunch of zombies and either get overwhelmed because they flipped the death mobile (probably trying to pull a Duke move)/were too loud or accidentally shoot one of their own and not realize that any death = zombie and get eaten by their dead buddy. Think of the crew that Daryl met. Did they actually know early on that death = zombie? That one guy choked out the other, wouldn't have taken a little more squeezing to accidentally kill that guy that saw Rick. Those guys were one drunk accident away from being road kill by their own hands.

Oh yeah! Show is due for some wandering zombie killing. We have had nice periods of plot and character development. Now for a wanton rampage of action.

Binge watched this thing starting in early December up to getting caught up tonight.

I haven't read much at all of this thread.

It's a rare show that imo got better with age. I'm a little tired of everyone turning into a sociopath that needs killing as a storyline. That's 3 of them now?

Watched chunks of a few of the old episodes this past weekend on some marathon thing they were running.

The mid season finale where they shoot up all the walkers in the barn is still one of the single best 5 minutes of any program I have ever watched, movie or TV show. It was like a really long wick on a giant bomb, and BOOM. Then super duper sadness like 5 seconds later. God Shane's character was so fabulous.

The other two I saw were the episode where Rick reunites with his wife/son and Shane, and the episode where they are at the CDC. Both awesome. So different than the episodes now.

Rememer when one walker took em like 10 seconds to kill and it was always super dangerous??

Then you just fight it out to the death with the zombies. The way this is setup the entire human race is going to go extinct, no matter what. The new spin off (no idea when it starts) covers much of the beginning and the CDC type info on what's happening and why -- have to imagine that will fill in some blanks for all of us.

The dialogue and writing is vastly improved since the first 2 seasons. Some of the dialogue was so forced it got to the point where I just pushed through to some of the action sequences that seemed to matter and focused most on the characters that I knew were going to live to Season 5. I may have missed some of the decent shane stuff as I felt it somewhat pointless to watch him as I knew going into it just from hearing people around IRL discuss the show before that he didn't make it long. I knew that the farm season sort of sucked so I maybe only really watched 50% of the non action stuff there.

I mean the upgrade from the writing was most evident in old guy #1 with the winnebago compared to Herschel. Old Guy 1 was just a cardboard cutout of an old dude. By about the point where the Governor turned up it was 10x better. Some of that was death of the more boring characters and actors. But most was writing.

Let me refine, the governor was pretty absurd. But the core team america they kept fairly "real" as it were through the experiences.

It's not all that out of the question that people would group up and then turn on eachother as resources became more scarce. It's sort of how we were not that long ago.

I marathoned it too until last season.

IMO, the plot vehicles are what makes the show lack transcendence. I really like the soul-searching and glimpses into what makes us human vs animal/zombies that the show gets into... at it's best. usually in the quieter moments, IIRC. I'm also a sucker for the post-apocolyptic "how would I survive and live if those conditions happened to me" kind of thing- so

Kirkman finally revealed a few months ago that he knows exactly how the comics will end. The tv show is roughly at the mid point of where the comics are.

That got me wondering whether Kirkman knows what his very last page will be — similar to the way a lot of showrunners have said that they knew early on what their last scene would be. Turns out the answer is…yes. “Yeah,” responds Kirkman. “I think about a year or two ago. From the very beginning I would always plot these big, long overarching stories. So it’d be like, oh, they’re going to get to the prison, then this is going to happen and then that’s going to happen and that’s going to happen. I wouldn’t really map out how many issues those were going to take, but I would always make sure that I had somewhere between two and ten years of story mapped out ahead of me. About a year or two ago, I finally nailed down exactly what I want the ending to be. So now I’ve kind of got two trails of story going in my head. One working to where I’m at very far into the future, and one working from the end backwards. When those two stories meet, then I’ll know exactly how long the story is. I’m rapidly approaching that point.”

Have they had any running water since the farm? (I am assuming the farm had some because of the wells but they never showed a shower being used I don't think).
