Ok- it was fun seeing the RPG and it was worthwhile story-wise to get through the horde invasion quickly, but...
- Darryl fights with a guy and kills him, leaving his body in plain sight to the gang of biker guys facing his direction- which implies that the fight took place in the same spot. and THEN grabs, aims and shoots an RPG at them while they all sit there quietly. Minor quibble- no track to the RPG... just an explosion that seemed to come out of nowhere. When we first saw this confrontation last episode, it seemed pretty clear the RPG was there for a reason. "nibble on that" was a great line.
- the whole meat-parka stroll... one second they're all talking, the next they're not- no interest from the zombies. sam and his doofus inbred mormon haircut says one thing- seemingly at the same sound level as their previous conversations- and gets devoured? but the others don't. until mom starts screaming... and the others are whispering/talking... but she gets attacked.
- the whole slo-mo black background montage of individual people vs zombie kill shots looked terrible, IMO. like something from a bad play made into a bad tv show. cheap and heavy-handed.
- wolf and doctor use the pick and roll technique on the zombies to avoid getting grabbed. carol's gunshot doesn't seem to distract them. doctor's discussion with the wolf after he's shot doesn't either. wala... they make it back to the infirmary.
- doctor puts some pressure on coral's eye... all good.
- rick goes crazy again and runs out in the horde... because coral is maybe dead. #### judith though. (btw- hatchet is the perfect zombie killer) ok... they all avoid getting bit, despite using short knives... whatever- get's the job done of telling the story of clearing the horde and uniting the two factions, so fine.
- with all the gunshots and screaming, the zombies decide to attack maggie's inert scaffold? ok. the scaffold enid is able to access from somewhere other than the ladder (escape route for maggie). ok.
- remember when zombies getting shot did nothing to stop them until the fatal head-shot? glen is surrounded- AGAIN- but thank goodness for machine gun carnage... head-shot-palooza. but PHEW... glen doesn't get bitten or shot.
- flammable lake needs an RPG to light it? can't just throw a match or lighter?
all of that made the episode more laugh/groan-filled than "amazing" to me. I get that it pushed the story-arc forward... so whatever. I'll still watch, because I enjoy the overall story arc, love post-apocolyptic things, and when it works it brings some interesting discussion/thought about morality and humanity.
