Doubt Boots is anyone we've seen before. I'd be surprised if it was.

I have no problems with how Morgan is playing Negan. I think he's done well. I see he won a Critic's choice award the other night so congrats to him for that. I think that's the first major acting award the show's received.

Big fan of Jesus and hope to see him become more integrated into the core group. Add him to my list of people who I'd like to see off Dwight. Pretty much everyone on the show could be put on the list as long as some kills that f'n weasel.

Really can't wait for the second half of the season. Finally invested again after the sluggish first half. Just getting the core group together again and Rick's game face back did wonders.

we can make an Av bet over that... you on?

I like Jesus character as well... even though the kung-fu, beard and hair is pretty laughable.

I actually like Dwight. he's weak, conflicted but doing what he thinks will keep him and his alive. I'm more interested in him than most of the regulars.

and I'm still waiting for that final scene in this week's episode to have them all jumping up in the air, clicking their heels as the camera freezes on that.

I think the person who slid the note to Darryl was Dwight. I heard footsteps that sounded like boots with the weight of a man in them, not his little ex-wife.

Apologies if this is a stupid question but what's an AV bet?

From what I understand everything about Tom Payne's look and how Jesus behaves is pretty much in line with the character in the comics. Comic fans correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Dwight's a f'n weasel. Hope he dies a gruesome death but if he's as big a deal as the comics people say I'm guessing he'll probably stick around for awhile. Ugh.

I really liked the final scene but I'm a sucker for happy endings. Sue me. :)

I wish they would have at least addressed or made a lame excuse as to why they only made one bullet.  Have the machine break down, run out of powder, overrun with zombies, something to try and explain away that absurdity.

av bet is betting on our avatars. winner picks the loser's avatar for a set period of time. it's amazing.

jesus looks like he has a fake beard and hair in the comics? I like the character, but that and the bad 80s kung-fu moves are pretty bizarre/funny.

see- if Dwight's gotten under your skin that much, that's a good thing IMO. means the character is working. wouldn't you rather have that than a bunch of disposable bleh people?

It's the only shell they had, Negan took all their ammo away from them.

And they also went to every location in the park where a shoot out ever occurred, with giant magnets, and found every shell that was ever fired so that Rick and Co couldn't gather any ammo.  It was the only shell that wasn't discovered during operation giant magnet sweep.  Rosita was kicking herself in the ### at that time for not gathering up every empty shell they could find and bringing it to the secret bullet manufacturing location as soon as she found out Eugene could make bullets because you need shells to make bullets.

I know nothing about bullets... so caveat, here. I thought it had to do with only finding one casing? so they made the one bullet.

that said- how did negan know it was a homemade bullet? did they cover that- I forget.

:oldunsure:

you with me, or against me on this one...?
My previous long post was anticipating someone saying that was the only shell in existence.  Which is ridiculous given the number of firefights they've been in since arriving to Alexandria and after they discovered that Eugene could make bullets which makes the shells valuable.

Hmmm, I like my avatar a lot. Scarlett makes me happy :)

Wouldn't say Dwight gets under my skin. He's just worthless and don't know why we have to be bothered by him when there are other characters I'd rather see screentime given to. Dwight's had more screentime this season than Ezekiel, for example. I'd MUCH rather see Ezekiel than Dwight. Hell I'm more interested in Richard's backstory right now than seeing more DwightAngst. Just feels so played out.

And of course the writers have left one thing for us to wonder about.. Who is "Boots"??
A loner looking for a community to join?
A spy for Negan?
A spy for another community who is looking to fight Negan?
or is he from a completely different group who will become yet another antagonist of the main group?

RE:  The guy in the boots spying on Rick and Alexandria.  I think it might be the same guy from the kingdom who talked to Carol and Morgan about getting Ezekiel to fight the Saviors.  They showed him in that small hidden trailer for no reason except his meltdown.  He feels alone in his quest to fight back.  Maybe while he was out he saw Rick and Aaron at the lake and followed the truck to Alexandria.  Now he wonders if they are a group he can join to fight.  Rick's group right now are in the same mindset as him.  I don't remember Carol or Morgan mentioned Alexandria to anyone, so he may not know whether Alexandria is also serving the saviors or an outpost for them.

I thought it was him too

They are hinting that boots guy is a new and different group. Maybe the houseboat is their bait car to loot people who would loot others. They allow some things to be stolen so that they might follow them back to their base.

Maybe Boot guy is actually a Boot lady from the lady camp  :o

yep-  they need the connection to the waterfront women..  and their guns

Could be right.  The one who tried to befriend Tara.  Good way to tie in the women with guns.

boots. I don't think it's the guy from the kingdom. I'm going to guess it's either somebody completely new, or completely old- terminus, wolves, anybody left from the guvnah? or one of gang's old group?
Lots of over analyzing here.  Seems like they made it pretty clear that boots guys is some angry loner just trying to live out life in his houseboat who holds a grudge and will murder people on sight.  Given all the signage I'm guessing he's pretty ticked about getting his #### stolen and he's going to be another problem for the Alexandrians to deal with, maybe during a stretch where we get a break from Negan after a soft defeat (IE he is defeated but not killed).

I don't know if boots guy owned the boat.  just figured that guy was dead

or?

if it is somebody from their past as I suggested- who did they leave alive previously that would be interesting?

if it's somebody new- why hide their face? boots, face- we won't know wtf they are regardless.
Why did they wait like 6 episodes after introducing Negan to actually show him?

To build the character up before formally introducing them.

I think the person in the boots is from the coastal female camp.  That is the angle of how they get them on board

The whole michonne thing is either bad writing or bad editing.  How did she know the girl was with Negan, what was the point of asking why she was by herself.  What did the girl mean by hiding the car and the bit with the silencer was a bit odd as well.  DId the girl just want Michonne to kill her?

weird

I dont think the numbers of Negan group matters as much as the gun situation.  Ricks crew can always just set up ambushes and take out people if they have the weapons for it.

Once they attack a group though then Negan is goign to know what is happening and burn Alexandria.
:wall:

They showed a dead body on the houseboat and commented that all the guns they found were out of ammo.  If anything it's to distract from the obvious that it is someone from the women's camp, imo.  A loner guy isn't going to have much impact on what's coming in the second half of the season.

My initial thought last week when Rick and Aaron first found the signs and then the boat in the middle of the lake was it was from the guy in the tree that Spencer found...

The guy in the tree had a note of all his cache's written in Latin.. Seems about the same type of thinking that would protect some of his cache in a lake surrounded by the dead.

so we're getting 6 episodes of boots?

I get it with Negan.. we're all Negan, after all. remains to be seen if it makes sense here.

Loner guy could easily have an impact, or be a soft introduction to a new baddie/plot-line before the current one is over like they have done a bunch of times before in this show.

Tara is the link to the women's camp.  She will either break her promise and spill the beans when she realizes they need them, or she will go to them directly after the Alexandria/Hilltop/Kingdom alliance has been forged and tell them they have an army ready to fight saviors and they can get revenge.

Seems like they would have made this link a lot more obvious if this were what they intended.  Guy in the tree with caches of loot was just random happy circumstance like happens weekly on this show (IE Jesus happening to bump into Daryl before any of the 200 guys with assault rifles did).

OMG, that ending was so funny. I actually wished they would go around one more time through everyone. It was fun to see who could do the least amount of a nod and still make it visible. That's quality entertainment right there.

I barely pay attention now while watching and still thought it was pretty obvious that the woman asked Michonne to kill her. I was waiting for the inevitable gunshot when they showed the distant view of the car.

But I didn't get what was going on with the guy that was talking to Carol and Morgan in that trailer. Is that his own private spot? What were those jars and why did he freak out? because he couldn't convince them to fight?

It wasn't a horrible episode, although I'm not a Negan fan. When he was sitting next to Spencer on the porch, the size difference was noticeable. He's a scrawny dude. I actually thought last night that the Rock would have been a good option too. I went in thinking that it might be the last episode I'd watch but I'm in for the second half.
:goodposting: all around.

They never should have had Negan take off his jacket.  His arms are sooooooo scrawny.  I bet Coral has bigger biceps.

They really needed an actor who could play a guy who thought he was being kind/personable/nice......but was still just a ####.  Kind of like Ralph Feinnes from Schindler's List( I Pardon You)  or Clancy Brown from Shawshank Redemption...guys who have total power, who think they're being magnanimous...but still can't hide the absolute **** that they are.  Jeffery Dean Morgan is doing a decent job, but he's too personable.  His eyes are too kind, his smile seems to always be legit and he's actually kind of funny.

ETA: And really, with this idea that Rick's core group isn't going to get got, no matter how many times they disrespect him or kill one of his dudes....it makes for an anticlimatic situation.......add to the idea that while Negan is a dictator.....it does seem that if you work hard and follow the rules, you'll be ok.  It's not like he's making those women be his wife.  They're all just lazy sluts who leave their men for nice dresses and more food.  Show me more of an #######; a guy who runs his group like a prison camp, has a loyal group of unsavory guys with whom he shares women/food/liquor and are loyal because they're just as much a #### as he is.  As it is...he isn't REALLY much worse than Rick was in his prime.
Agreed, and it doesn't help that this was contrasted against all the characters we're supposed to like just standing around being mopey for 6 extra long episodes this season.  They're all looking at him with hate and all I can think is "hey at least he's giving us something more than 90 consecutive minutes of scowl-face".

There's no reason to introduce Oceanside if they weren't going to factor into the storyline at some point down the road, especially since they made a pretty big point of showing all the guns they have there. Tara's gonna break her promise to them or something will happen for Oceanside to be discovered by the group in some fashion. There's just no way an entire episode would have been devoted to them if they weren't going to re-appear with all those guns if there's going to be an entire storyline devoted to Rick gathering forces in a war against Negan and needing weapons in the fight. So it's gonna happen. Only question is when and how will they be re-introduced?

Again, seems fairly obvious that Tara will either break her promise or will go to them directly and tell them they have a legitimate chance to get revenge on the saviors if they join in on this alliance.

But yes, it's obvious they will join.  Just like it was obvious when they started introducing all these groups that hate the saviors that they would all eventually form an alliance, and just like it's obvious with the displays of Dwight's wavering loyalty to Negan that he will or already has (via the key for Daryl) turn on him and help the Alexandrians.

Finally caught up with the last 4 episodes. DVR is the way to go. I swear that those "90 minute" episodes are essentially more commercials with maybe 10 additional minutes of actual show. A lot of boredom that led up to a decent mid season finale. Very predictable elements and plot lines. Agree with others that it is necessary to rein in the main characters for each episode.

I think Morgan has done a solid job developing Negan. He started out with a bang, dipped but brought a lot of personality to the character. Life for the Survivors is like a place in hell. There is nothing redemptive in this life. I would be interested in a Negan back story. Never read the comics but he seems like the type of character that has become pathetically bored and disinterested with humanity or what remains of humanity. He often cites some skewed rationale for his violent outbursts but when one looks at his actions, he seems justified. He avenges the attacks on his group with an eye for an eye approach but he appears to be merciful in many ways. It's the method behind his madness that gives him his sociopathic vibe. Ricks crew deserved to lose numbers on many occasions. Leaders in power within the madness of an immoral world use shocking tactics to keep the fiefdom in order (if that is even possible). Heck, the great Khans of the Mongol tribes that dominated the east were known to pour molten silver into the ears, eyes and throats of those that defied their will (while their victims were alive).

Spencer walked straight into the sharks mouth. Deserved his fate. I mean the dude thought hustling Negan by trying to sell out Rick was better than playing tickle with Rosita.

Looking forward to the second half but I think that we know that this is going to be the allies and the axis type of show down. Something tells me that Negan is aware of more groups in the wasteland. Groups that can possibly wipe out the Saviors. DVR ing multiple episodes is the way to deal w TWD.

I thought Cindy was in the top tier for women on the Walking Dead.  I assume she will become a more major character since she was the character with the most screen time for that community.
I have been trying to look for stills from the "Swear" episode (Tara in Oceanside), but I could have sworn that chick was wearing black combat boots.  Maybe I'll go back and watch the beginning of that episode.

Would make perfect sense that she just followed Tara back to Alexandria after the two parted ways and she's just scoping them out.

Went back and looked at opening scene of that episode.  Looks pretty close.  But then read this:  http://www.businessinsider.com/walking-dead-who-is-the-person-wearing-boots-2016-12

This episode is on right now. Damn indecisive women.

I think Carol helps to seal the deal on getting King Ezekiel to join with Rick as well as Hilltop to take on the Saviors. She's the key.

I'm kind of sick of Rick's group.  If Negan wasn't such a ##### I'd be rooting for him.  What this show needs is a wacko scientist that has figured out a way to speed up and intensify walkers so they are bad-a%%

Maybe it was cause i was distracted, but I have no idea what was going on with Gabriel.  Why did he take the stuff, where did he go, and how the hell did anyone know where he went?

I was planning to rewatch tonight when I wont have distractions, but wanna know NOW!!
