***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (3 Viewers)

glad they are moving the plot along, but not a fan of a couple of things in the episode. the Neegan story line made no sense (feel like i say this 100 times, but was done 50x better in the comic). and the ending was more bummer than surprising or exciting. Really reinforces how the show does not know their audience, really should have had Tara join that group and take the "L"
Felt the same way.  It should have been Tara or one of the new group that people don't yet care about.  Jesus was my wife's favorite character and we've been watching since day one.  She was upset that they killed off Tyrese the way they did.  Now she says she's done with the show.

If they go back to Negan rebuilding the saviors or repackage that story line, I'll be pissed too.

Next episode he finds Lucille a few feet away & starts killing *yawn*

Thought the last scenes were cool enough.  Liked the slow motion fighting with Jesus but was bummed to see it was him to die.  Should have been Tara or Gabriel (he wanted to go help Rosarita).

Whisperers story line is interesting to me.  Like to see where it goes.

Man I hope not.  I'm hoping that what the previews showed of him whistling back at the sanctuary was a dream sequence or something.
I don't think that exact scenario will happen, but I would bet $ that, whatever they do, it's more bs. They need new writers.

I do like that the arrival of the Whisperers has made the show feel eerie and scary again, which was sorely lacking in the whole Kneegan War arc.

Totally agree.

For the first time in a long time, the walkers were scary again, there were happenings in the 6 years that we were trying to figure out and we didn't have to hear Neegan drone on and on and on and on.

I liked the episode.  It certainly wasn't awesome but I didn't hate it.  It's keeping me interested and that's all I can hope for right now.  It's definitely better than the last two seasons.

I'm already worried about how they've done it (compared to comics, which I haven't read). Something tells me that the whisperer attacks had way more surprise attacks leading to the discovery. Something also tells me that they wouldn't have recruited people (like Daryl in the preview). They seem more like just kill other people with no other motives and do it by herding walkers and occasionally get involved. The previews make it seem more like the next enemy than a really cool story line and mysterious series of attacks and deaths. For instance, they had almost 300 walkers in that herd yet, instead of just sending wave after wave of walkers and blending in the end was just a wave of real people and all of them get killed and only kill Jesus.

I really can't stand how bad this show has gotten and I'm already worried they ruined what could be a fantastic story line by spoiling the mystery that quickly. Now that the good guys know, it turns it into more of a war like we've seen a million times already.
I didn't see it as a wave of real people.   Jesus killed the obvious zombies and the one real person ducked.

The Whispers are really the only intriguing thing for me and I'm glad I decided to watch this mid-season finale.  I almost tapped out after two episodes of of the new people, Henry, and Judith.   :X

Why are the three compounds fighting/not working together?  6 years pass and nothing from Georgie and/or the helicopter?

FWIW, Tom Payne basically went to the producers and said he was bored of his character and suggested he be killed off.

yeah, is this true? if so i guess it makes more sense then and i'm not as bummed
I don't know what is true and what isn't.  Here are his quotes, you can decide for yourself.

==============

“I had kind of reached a point in the show where I was a little bit in stasis, and like, ‘Well, you know, I have to do more with my character, otherwise I’m cool with being killed off.’”

“I was talking to the show-runners about this last year, and they were aware I was a little bit kind of bored and unhappy,” Payne continued. He said he wanted to shake things up: “Let’s do something, kill some people, kill me, I don’t care. Let’s do some shocking stuff!”

I totally agree with him.  The character was pretty cool, but they definitely weren't using him as much as they could/should have.

Maybe he wasn't all that excited that he and Aaron were going to be an item.

The last group of four or five were moving very quickly and had knives. They were definitely human.
Yep, that's what I was talking about. The last wave was all human, made it really obvious such that Daryl unmasked one of them. I was hoping they'd hide it a bit more and do more sneak attacks. In essence, in one zombie fight after Rosita and Eugene explained that there was something "evolving" the group found out for sure that there are humans wearing walker masks. Just feels more like the next human group war instead of what you'd expect to happen with this group. I'd expect more of a ninja/hide your true identity type of jungle warfare, not a reveal and do an open battle.

I was really hoping for the zombies developing basic thought processes. Disappointed it was just disguised humans.
Me too.  Now all we have is a new group of bad guys to deal with (yawn)  Making the zombies a threat again is what the show should be about.   Faster, smarter, harder to kill, etc.  They had the chance but blew it...

Now that Negan is back I would like see him become obsessed with killing every member of Rick's group.  Each episode in the second half of the season should have Negan taking out one of Rick's people by a different method.   By the end of the season he gets to either Daryl or Carol and you don't know which one wins until the next season.

Yeah, after their buddy died.  And 4 or 5 doesn't really constitute much of a wave, maybe that's why I didn't understand him.    Before Jesus got killed it was one real person surrounded by a bunch of zombies, which is how they move them I imagine.

My guess is they’ll need Neegans help to beat the whispers and he’ll nec the new leader

Making that change would have lost a lot of die hard fans.  The people who read the comics would most likely have left the show.

Maybe but all of the remaining characters on the TV show have grown stale.  Other than maybe Carol, Daryl and his dog I don't give a damn about any of them and would actually like to see them killed off.

Viewers are leaving the show in droves.   I plan on watching the first episode of the second half but if it is just another war with a rival group or Negan Part 2 I am done.

It’s a wave when all are real. I just hated how quickly it was revealed. There’s no mystery anymore. There are humans dressed as walkers. It took one actual fight and one death. I just don’t think that’s how the whisperers would have done it. Maybe it was a quick reveal in the comics but they could have made some good episodes and now they can’t.

:goodposting:

not sure how much more they could have milked, but that scene with darryl and the firecrackers and dog not being able to turn the horde, and him realizing everything had changed in terms of how they control situations- that was good stuff.

Exactly. Show a few scenes more like Rosita and Eugene or heck if you are going to kill Jesus, how about he’s got one walker left and he gets through the gate, closes it and everyone turns around and he gets a machete through the back and the walker disappears. They might suspect something but they’d have no idea. Instead they kill the wave and unmask one of them.

The show is still way to light hearted when it could be much more.

I was as die hard as it gets and now I just fast forward through a few episodes on a random tuesday just for laughs.

I wanted a show with better writing and more believable plot lines so I switched to Xena: Warrior Princess

so are the walkers actually evolving or is it the whisperers that were doing the "talking" as walkers, which at that time was walker-growling and not whispering? Or are the walkers evolving AND the whisperers are amongst them?

My take was that the walkers are evolving a bit and that the whisperers are using them, quite literally, as a vessel of concealment as well as concealed transportation.

I hope you are right but I think the whisperers just have a way of controlling them.  What would have been good would be to have the whisperers wipe out the cast with the walkers and then lost control of them and be wiped out themselves.  Camera pans out to reveal the entire Earth populated solely by zombies.   End of show.

Way to long of a break... Some preview's looked good regarding whispers... Hoping they bypass the stupid "county fair"...

Commercial for Maggie's new show on ABC looks promising and explains her disappearing..

They've been going REALLY heavy on the advertising.  Just bizarre that they still take this long of a break even though the show is losing viewers.

Ricks kid needs some adult supervision.

I hadn’t watched since rick flew away. I got caught up tonight, that was a waste of three hours.  Remember when finales and first episodes were good?  I miss Sunday night football....

I thought it was okay.  Hard for any show to make it for 9-10 seasons and still make every episode as good as day one.  Negan going back to sanctuary to find it decrepit worked okay for me.  He needed that group for him to function like Negan and realized he had nothing left so he figured at least in Alexandria he had food, water and people to talk to.  At least for now.

The girl in the cell is playing Daryl and company.  The timid fawn act shouldn't fool anyone, except Henry the doofus.

Judith is the best character on the show right now, imo.  The little shoulder shrug while turning her back on Negan was cool.

I miss football too but I'm glad there's something on Sunday nights again.

I think Daryl knew exactly what he was doing... Knows Henry pretends to be tough, but in the end is always more concerned about others.. So he used that to his advantage to see if he could get Henry to get information from Lydia, which he did.

If we didn't know better, you'd think The Whispers motto of "Kill or be Killed" is being lead by Rick version 2.0 & 3.0..

It was OK. Got back from vacation last night and didn’t feel like working so I watched the episode. I still hate that the whisperers were unmasked so quickly. Of course, we have one patrol leave right before the other one gets back with news that would have helped them out. Now both crews have hostages. Wouldn’t it be better and more likely that the whisperers just continue to take people out and have the horde eat them so that they aren’t found out but still kill everyone? Attacking right away seems like a bad survival technique for people who have survived for years. Making them another governor or Negan just makes it boring even though AMC is playing them up so much. Like those movies where they show the monster way too soon and ruin what could have been an epic restart. You could have had them terrorizing people like we saw with Eugene and Rosita. Instead we’ve got a pregnant Rosita with a Eugene/Priest love quadrilateral.

I feel like the mom is going to be just like that blonde girlfriend of the bad guy in Die Hard 3. She’s going to be some amazing badass who can beat up or kill anyone.

I’m glad Daryl won’t get played but you know Henry is going to get people killed. ####### who I already can’t stand.
