I liked Stefan a lot more after his exit interview. Hard not to like him and Fabio after that. Hosea, on the other hand...

Stefan got a real bad edit early. They wanted him to be this year's lisa. He said he wasn't there to make friends and yet he's gone to visit just about everybody from this season since the show was over. I'm sure he's a real ####### :goodposting:

Carla was not prepared and in over her head. The show did not talk about how the first course (crab) took her half of the friggin’ cooking time that day, I was left to work the rest of HER dishes.

She also did not have a plan. The ONLY thing she had in mind was a cheese course! I would NEVER do a cheese course. And where in the hell did french come from!? She is not even classically trained! It (the show) didn’t talk about how I worked on a sauce for 2 days and Carla forgot to put it on the plate… It didn’t show how the 2nd course (fish) was MINE. It didn’t show how she took the sous vide idea and decided to GRILL it last minute causing it to be tough… And it didn’t show how she WANTED to do the souffles which she does not even know how to make! That was HER food, because it certainly was me asking her how she wanted to do this and that while she was busy picking crab the entire time and making a souffle that didn’t rise!

I am done with TC. I did not influence her. She has NO ideas of her own, oh, except a cheese course.

Gees. Why throw Carla under the bus instead of just #####ing about the way it was edited?

Oh, and I'm sure Stefan was less of a #### than the way he was portrayed, but he was pretty much a #### in most of his one-on-one interviews, which can't exactly be taken out of context.

Producer: Hey stefan we need you to say "Hosea is a ####" Stefan: Sure. "Hosea is a ####"

Wow jeez, what a heel

Meanwhile, instead of owning up, Casey ups the ante and blames the messenger:

The Top Chef experience has been a good one and everyone there has been genuine and wonderful. It was nice to return and working the Carla was a lovely experience. These are truly challenging tests and I am sorry that together we were unable to secure her victory. As I was once in the same position myself, I know how she feels and respect her performance. I know she will continue to shine.Just after the airing, an acquaintance contacted me on facebook and, it turns out, was seeking to create some controversy. She did not represent herself as a reporter and did not ask for a quote. Instead, she took advantage of me.I’m a fan of Carla’s and as disappointed as her fans are that she came up short. I’m more disappointed that my great experience with a fellow female chef of Carla’s talent would be damaged by such reckless and unprofessional reporting.I feel hurt and compromised. The publication who is involved has always treated me well, but in this case– it should be embarrassed.

This comes off as pretty insincere. It may have been off the record, but she's not denying she said it. Why bother lying?

I wasn't rooting for Hosea, but I don't have a problem with Stefan not winning either. He wound up in the "bottom" a couple times down the stretch and didn't knock it out of the park when everyone expected him to. He had 3 examples right in front of him of past season contestants that couldn't pull off their best in the Finale.

The Patriots didn't deserve the Lombardi 2 years ago just because they won 18 games and dominated the competition all season.

Briefly saw Ariane on "Iron Chef" last night. I think she was somebody's sous chef. Either Flay's or the challenger's.
I've seen Trey on there a couple of times as well. That sucks about Casey's comments, but I can't say I'm surprised. Everything they did this year to make Stefan the heel, they did to the opposite extreme in Season 3 to make Casey look good. And it worked on me, but I always knew there was a huge ***** lurking under there somewhere.

Ariane was the sous chef for the challenger, a woman.Trey has been there in the past helping these two brothers (one owns a place in Georgia - one in Dallas).

It does, but to be fair to Casey, after that finale Casey was called every dirty name in the book over at the TWOP forums and other places. In the same position, and contacted informally by friend/acquaintance on Facebook. I might have vented as well. Maybe even exaggerated a bit. I felt for Carla, but clearly most of the responsibility for her loss is hers, even if Casey convinced her to make changes. The sous chef isn't in charge. It's just weird that people have such strong feelings about reality show contestants. I found Carla charming, but it's television. I'm under no illusions that Stefan is some Eurovillian or Hosea is a greasy Lothario hitting on every female chef with a rack.** I do believe, however, that Jeff is a wizard.

Agree on all fronts, especially the asterisked point.

Worst season ever. So if Stefan doesn't freeze his fish he wins? Hosea was the worst of the 3 chefs left, just didn't blow it. So, solid but not spectacular beats spectacular but slightly off? Whatever.

Hosea may be the luckiest reality show contestant ever. Makes out with the big gunned hottie chef and wins 100K for simply not making a massive mistake. Stefan slapped him around all season, even knocks the croc screw job back into Hosea's buckteeth. (By the way, how lame was that? "Hey pick a piece of cake and there's a figurine in yours you get to screw whoever you want by making them cook Flintsone critter meat while you can cook crab or fish." This is supposed to be Top Chef, not Top person who can guess which section of cake has a monopoly piece in it. C'mon now.) Long haired wacky Hubert loved the frozen sliced fish dish. Could it have been that bad? Bald nerd Elton John judge enjoyed his dessert from Stefan. Could it have been that bad? Stefan got jobbed for being cocky. There was no doubt he was the best of the group by a mile.
1.They choose the winner by that night's meal, not the whole season. - Stefan had arguably the 2 most popular dishes. The frozen fish and dessert hate seemed nitpicky. Also, to say that the only thing the judges/producers take note of is that final meal isn't being realistic.2. Stefan didn't get hosed by the gator, in fact that was his second best dish. - Right. He shoved it right back into Hosea's face.

3. Freezing fresh fish is a major mistake, but wasn't the reason Stefan lost. - Seems like it to everyone else.

4. If you are going by what Toby Young said over the other judges then something is wrong. - I wasn't but his point is well taken. Hosea skipped making a dessert because he couldn't.

5. The dessert was what lost Stefan the competition for being unimaginative. - Chef Tom didn't seem to be impressed but that wasn't the only reason...obviously. "Hey Stefan, you wiped the floor with everyone this season but your last dessert was just so-so, so we're going to pick someone else to win." C'mon.

6. You do not win TC with having 2 of 4 dishes being sub par. Stefan choked. - Again, they were being a bit nit-picky and playing up Marcel's line when he knocked stefan freezing the fish. It seemed they just didn't want him to win and I believe even if he didn't freeze the fish and made some kind of stellar dessert that they were going to have a hard time giving him the hardware. It's always going to be about good vs. evil with these shows and people are made to look a certain way as to sway the audience. Clearly Stefan was better than everyone there.
You really should read the blogs, because you are wrong on all accounts.

Carla lost it for me when it took her the whole show to shuck a pan of oysters. Can't shuck an oyster and you are in the finals. Seriously?

Just another example of an overly edited show. The producers are so scared that the truth wont be good enough for the viewers that they craft and edti their way into what they feel are the best "stories". Sometimes, the truth is just more interesting than a bunch of quick camera edits and 5 second snippets of conversations.

wow. FTB.

Just thought I'd post, especially for the Chicagoans, that I finally ate at Radhika's restaurant on Saturday night (it's a block from my house but just hadn't made it there). It was fantastic. All of the food is meant for sharing--somewhat larger than tapas but not the size of a main course, so for the four of us we ordered five dishes plus dessert. Of the five, four of them were outstanding: (1) "sweet heat shrimp" with honey, garlic, curry sauce, and cucumber daikon salad, (2) wild mushroom flatbread with leek fondue, goat cheese, asparagus, and mushrooms, (3) a tuna tartare whose specific ingredients I can't remember nor find on the website, and (4) the standout of the night, crepes stuffed with potatoes, manchego cheese, brown butter, and topped with coconut chutney. The only slight disappointment was an "ocean trifecta" that included a lobster pasta with bacon cream sauce, crab salad, and a shrimp and scallion dumpling--it was good but just not at the level of the others.

As you can see, while there are Indian influences here and there, overall she did not rely heavily on her knowledge of Indian cuisine with respect to this menu. The flavor combinations were exotic and interesting, though, and very successful in their balance. We also had two desserts that were OK but not spectacular. They have a very nice (albeit small) and reasonably priced wine selection.

As a bonus, when Radhika came out of the kitchen at one point she made a beeline to hug my boyfriend and gave us a bottle of bubbly on the house. Turns out my bf introduced her to her current boyfriend, who also showed up at the place a little later and is a very nice guy. Radhika is very lovely and more confident and cool than she seemed on the show.

Highly recommend the place (Between Boutique Cafe and Lounge) to anyone living in Chicago or passing through.

It is Between Boutique Cafe and Lounge (see the last line of my post  ). She left Vermilion a couple of years ago. That is/was a good place, but this one is much better.
