Official US Women's soccer thread: ***Update- Christen Press retires (11 Viewers)

I had to watch the Thorns game Friday on Yahoo Sports App via Roku.  It was less than ideal.  Glad things look to be improving.
I thought the Thorns were one of the few teams in the NWSL that had good local coverage?  Root Sports and some other local channels I thought carried a mix of games.

Maybe that was in previous years...

I think Horan is one of the best players in the world.  The fact that our girls won without her seeing a second of time is pretty incredible.

Hope O'Hara is doing ok. She looked concussed to me. Those things are nasty so I do hope I'm wrong.

Saurbaun getting gashed and rushing back in with a bandage epitomizes the toughness of this squad.

New stars emerged this tournament.  Loved watching them mix in with the vets who will likely not be on the 2023 team.

Man, I'm on cloud 9.  What a day...

Thought I saw a stat that said Morgan and Rapinoe bother had 6 goals and 3 assists. If so, what was the tie breaker?

And has there ever been a gold and silver boot from the same squad?

I am wondering he means who from the US government represented them in the stands...?  I saw the name of who it was but being apolitical and having zero knowledge, it meant nothing to me.
Ah. That makes more sense. Thought it might have been an immigrant dual-national player question...but had no idea really.

She had a knock iirc.

Plus, it was Chile.
don't recall hearing much about a knock in the runup, matter of fact, DK ran a facacta "MORGAN HAT TRICK!!1!" gimmick where they guaranteed your bet up to $50 if she scored at least 2 ... recall it being in play on gameday.

While this tournament showed the rise of the European teams and how far they've come in a decade, it was obvious from the start that no country could match the depth of talent of the US. Even when bringing on subs, theist subs were better than the starters for the other countries. It's probable that the US had the first and second best squads in the tournament.
It did seem like all the questioning of lineups was for naught. When you have that kind of depth, why not use it.

Personal opinion, it should be open play goals as first tie break.  Rapinoe did well and she deserves whatever credit she gets, but anyone who took the PKs for USA in this tournament was finishing pretty high.  6 open play goals is a lot different imo.

That poor goalkeeper.
But the keeper for the Netherlands was lights-out.  She single-handedly kept the game from being 4--or-5-nil and couldn't have helped the two goals that went in.  Obviously the US was the best side, but the Dutch had their chances, and you have to give a hat-tip to their goalie.

One shot on goal.

Impressive tournament for the team. ⚽

Generally I'm in favor of doing what you want as long as it doesn't negatively impact others. I don't care if members of championship pro teams choose not to go to the white house. However, if you're on a team that represents the country and choose not to go. That just seems weird.
