AgreedThe defending there and way too much elsewhere was really poor.
Thank goodness the Brit flubbed it. That first half save was waaay better than the PK save.

Press is betterAny update on Rapinoe?
I played through college in the late 80s and for a few semipro years afterwards.... most of what gets called now, wasn't then. Most of what is given a yellow now, wasn't even a foul then But yeah, if you went over the ball studs up- yugh, was usually intentional and/or trying to wreck a guy for the game or longer.
I played college in the mid 90s and as long as you went through or got the ball it was considered a great tackle and not a foul. Now you get booked. Shoulder to shoulder was fine and just because someone fell over didn't mean a foul was called. You were also allowed to challenge the keeper on balls in the air like any other player. Free kicks were not given just for looking at a keeper wrong like they are now.I wasn't good enough to play college ball, but played through HS and played on an intramural team in college. Completely agree with your take. I only got a couple yellow cards in all my years of playing, but feel like I'd be seeing constant red cards these days.
My senior year of HS I missed almost the entire season after getting stomped on the toe in a mud pit game, breaking my big toe on my primary foot....... wasn't even called a foul
Thanks.Press is better
Actually she reportedly has a strain in her thigh and is day to day but expects to be fit for the final.
It’s all good.![]()
I got the beginning of a tan, beachy/windswept hair...it's as good as it's gonna get.
Finally got to see a replay (not on my phone) of the PK call.Hated that pk call. Yes, there was contact on the backswing...and maybe that's the new letter of the law, but nothing and nowhere else for the defender to go or do there.
Also didn't like how the US over-committed on every challenge over that 15 minutes to try to win the ball instead of keeping their heads and forcing the English to play the ball back. Too many opportunities for the Brits to make the easy turn and find open space going to go goal.
Better finish those leftovers.....Power went out 5 minutes into the game so that was great! Sounds like I didn’t miss much, certainly not one of the most thrilling games in recent times. Also, it’s like a 110 in my house right now. Great.
It wasn't as good as the France game, but I still thought it was a decent game to watch, with plenty of intrigue.Power went out 5 minutes into the game so that was great! I'm partial to the bellpepper defenderIs it wrong to be madly infatuated with Christen Press?

I'm happy that I am able to admire these players solely and exclusively for their athletic prowess, hard work and wonderful technique and teamwork, and in no way have ever viewed them as objects of my perverted and abhorrent deviant sexual fantasies, ever.Is it wrong to be madly infatuated with Christen Press?

It might not surprise many of you, but I didn't feel I accomplished much if I didn't get a yellow card in a game. Playing in London in the 80s that was a tough thing to do.I wasn't good enough to play college ball, but played through HS and played on an intramural team in college. Agreed. They give up way too much possession with the flat back 5.Lavelle also said her hammy didn’t feel too bad in the mixed zone. She unfortunately has a history of pulls, but if she can be fit, it’s big. The US are lucky to have a replacement as good as Mewis, but if they’re protecting a lead in the final, I’d far rather them go 4-1-3-2 with Ertz sitting behind Rose, Horan, and Mewis than the passive back-5 Ellis got away with today.
Had never heard of her before the WC. It's like she has the nitrous switch and just blazes by people.Agreed. They give up way too much possession with the flat back 5.
Also, how good is Lavelle? She looks scrawny, but damn she's quick and had great touch. Love her game.
One of the top-5 celebrations of all time. God bless her.My thoughts, not that anyone cares, I didn't care for the Morgan tea sip celebration. Thought it was classless. She also seems to cry a bit more than the others.
I thought Dunn was exposed a bit yesterday.
Great save on the penalty kick.
I think they got lucky yesterday. Both England goals were defensive breakdowns. They don't call that offside and the PK goes in, we are playing for 3rd place.
I think we watched a different match. People were praising her for the France game when I thought she was out of position most of the game causing her to run around like her hair was on fire. Not nearly as much praise yesterday. And I think she had her best game of the tournament. Wasn't out of position very often. And she finally started using her attacking skills to put stress on England's D.I thought Dunn was exposed a bit yesterday.

I actually agree with @Christo here. If she's going to play as a wing back, she's got to learn when to stay put and when to pressure the opposition and pin them back. Perhaps that's on Ellis and her gameplanning, but it's obvious that O'Hara has a much much better understanding of the role she should play in defending vs. transition vs. offense. Dunn is relying on her makeup speed and quickness to not get absolutely worked on the flank instead of understanding space, marking, and when to execute an overlapping or diagonal run.I think we watched a different match. good point about Japan game ... believe it was in the 92nd minute ... i had Netherlands pretty big for the rt win, and had given up all hope.I haven't seen enough of either to make a play, but from what I have seen, Sweden plays a much more pragmatic game. Solid defense, will try to hit on a counter or set piece. They absorb pressure well and the win vs Germany was pretty impressive.
Dutch were lucky to advance vs Japan. They were gifted a late 2h PK and the Japanese hit the woodwork a few times too.
I think it will be a low scoring, boring game
Who advances on a draw?how we feelin' about today's match?
i haven't seen much better play thus far than Netherlands in the second half vs Italy in the quarters, though Sweden's takedown of Gernany was a much more impressive feat.
early 1X2 line:
Netherlands +140
Draw +220
Sweden +200

think USWNT would prefer Sweden, no?
I didn't like the celebration either- and liked her explanation less. She must be a complete moron if she thought sipping tea wouldn't be understood as a slap in England's face.My thoughts, not that anyone cares, I didn't care for the Morgan tea sip celebration. Oh I thought she did it to purposefully troll England. She tried to explain she didn’t think it was insulting?I didn't like the celebration either- and liked her explanation less. She must be a complete moron if she thought sipping tea wouldn't be understood as a slap in England's face.
But "crying"? She is getting the crap kicked out of her all tournament. I'll even forgive her for embellishing a couple challenges at the end of that game after her leg could have been broken.
No chance. Nah. It was disrespectful and classless. One of the top-5 celebrations of all time. God bless her.

From what I could gather she was aiming at a version of the golf clap, look at me I've got class and won't celebrate, to troll the dopey critic haters in the US. To use a theme that is so obviously British and not think before or after of it...she's a moron.Oh I thought she did it to purposefully troll England. I actually just checked....says here when the opponent is England it’s ok to do.Nah. It was disrespectful and classless.
Celebrate your accomplishments not poke at an opponent. I am not a fan of Rapinoe but her pose after the France goals was infinitely better.
They’re just out there having fun and talking #### man. It’s not that serious. From what I could gather she was aiming at a version of the golf clap, look at me I've got class and won't celebrate, to troll the dopey critic haters in the US. I hate trolling. And I hate intentionally disrespecting people. What's wrong with you that you get off on that?
Acting like an disrespectful ####### is always serious. On the world stage when you're representing your country- even more so.They’re just out there having fun and talking #### man. It’s not that serious.
I really think you’re overreacting to it a bit. The jokes after it were funny! Somebody said if England scored they should pantomime eating a Big Mac and large fries. Come on!Acting like an disrespectful ####### is always serious. On the world stage when you're representing your country- even more so.
I don't understand why that's so difficult to comprehend. Bums me out that people I like condone and celebrate that kind of behavior.
I remember two distinct times when she played the ball to the outside and the opposing player took the play inside without much contention.I think we watched a different match. People were praising her for the France game when I thought she was out of position most of the game causing her to run around like her hair was on fire. Not nearly as much praise yesterday. Did Ellen White explain her google eyes celebration?Oh I thought she did it to purposefully troll England. She tried to explain she didn’t think it was insulting? No chance.
England player could do a mock school massacre celebration to have a poke at the yanks. If an England player scored and pulled out a McDonald’s bag I’d celebrate her just as much too fwiw
Marty Feldman was her great uncleDid Ellen White explain her google eyes celebration?
Exactly my thoughts. I said during the game she was having an excellent match. I think it was the first match we weren't otherwise mentioning her name. That's a huge positive.I think we watched a different match.
