I'll remain optimistic and say the Eagles are still the best team in the NFC, even without Owens. They have the same key players they had last year, but this time McNabb is healthy and Westbrook is in the lineup. Obviously, if they lose one of those two guys, put a fork in 'em. The defense is also as strong as last year, which people didn't expect to be the case with Vincent and Taylor leaving. But Sheppard and Brown have been very solid corners while both Dawkins and Lewis have played Pro Bowl level safety. And Kearse is of course a huge addition up front. Trotter starting at MLB has shored up the run defense, and now the overall D is looking better and better each week.If the Eagles don't panic over losing TO, they have the ability to beat anyone in the NFC. I don't have faith in them winning against the AFC champion without him, though. I think McNabb needs to use his legs to gain yards a little more early in games, if for no other reason than to put that fear in the defense and soften up the coverage. When he runs a few times, it changes the way the defense plays against the Eagles and opens things up for his receivers. Without Owens, that becomes even more important.I'm still drinking the Kool-Aid...I'm not giving up on this season now!
