Owens Press Conference Update (1 Viewer)

Frankly, I was at the game when Irvin was hurt, and the majority of the fans weren't cheering.
That is just too funny. I was at that game (having lived right outside of Philly for years). The majority of the fans were cheering or "heckling" Irvin as he lay on the concrete floor of Veterans Stadium. There isn't any way that you can turn the Philly fans reaction that day into a positive! That was a classless move by the "majority" of fans that day and unlike TO Irvin could have been dead......
Well said from one of your own. I wish T.O the best in recovery, but KARMA is in full effect.

OK...you can argue the Packers (maybe) being better...but the Panthers? THEY ARE 6-8 PEOPLE...talk about drinking Kool Aid. GB Panthers fans confusing mediocrity with being an NFC contender.ATL, MIN and GB could come into Philly on a good day and beat the Eagles now, of that I'm certain. Eagles will (and should) be favored against any of them (assuming the Birds circle the wagons and win the divisional) but it will be a tremendously tough task.
I am not a Panthers fan but they are 5-1 in their last 6 games and came within a centimeter (Vick's knee) of being 6-0. IMO they have a better running game, better defense, and right now a better passing game than the Eagles.
We could only be so lucky. The best Xmas gift would be another opportunity to thump the Eagles at the Stinc.

:bs: the majority of the fans were just fine until DEION started acting like a complete ##### on the sidelines, acting like he was praying and calling to the lord, making a spectacle of himself. THAT is when most of the fans got riled up and started hooting and hollering.on a side note, thank goodness irvin made a full recovery so he can come into our homes every sunday and monday and entertain us. :yucky:
 That is crazy. I'm not blind! The fans in the area I sat in were not prompted by Deion!! And those fans were not hooting and hollering as you describe it. I was not an Irvin fan, but I sure as heck wouldn't cheer, curse, clap or show some type of enthusiasm after a player has been involved in a play that could cost him his life or serious injury.

The defense is one of the best in the league.
I just checked NFL.com and the Beagle D is #10 in the NFL...
Call me a homer, but I would think the #1 scoring defense in the LEAGUE qualifies you to be "one of the best"But what do I know?Edit: JW beat me to it. lol

In yards allowed...but they're #1 in points allowed, and #1 in sacks; they're an elite defense any way you slice things.
 But thats cuz of how much pressure they put on teams to score. I wonder how they'll be now since they wont score as much.

Definitely a fair point shadyridr, although in four of their last five games, the Birds have let teams hang around through the first half and beyond; but the D still put pressure, and kept them from scoring a ton.

that comment makes no sense.isn't the object of the game to score as many points as you can? all of the sudden, if the eagles don't score as many points... opposing teams won't feel the need to attack on offense???all your logic does is explain why the eagles aren't tops in the league in yards allowed too. alot of those yards they give up in garbage time.the skinny....202 total points against - #1 in the NFL23 total TDs allowed - #2 in the NFL14 receiving TDs allowed - #2 in the NFLI believe that supports my original post.... the Eagles have one of the best defenses in the league.

Thats not what I said at all.

Thats not what I said at all.
Then I guess I'm not quite getting your point.Explain to me, after looking at the numbers, how you can really argue that the Eagles DO NOT have one of the elite defensive units in the NFL?

Hey Tong,I don't want to speak for shadyridr, but I think he absolutely acknowledges that the Eagles D HAS BEEN among the league's elite; he's just questioning how the lack of offense thanks to TO getting hurt will impact the situation. Obviously the Eagles have gotten up big on quite a few teams which allows them to pin their ears back and rush the passer. As I stated already, four of the last five games have been close at the half or beyond, and the D played very well, so I don't see it as a problem.

Then I'll add this...Pinning their ears back and going after the QB has always been the style of Jim Johnson's defense. I think this defense plays aggressively, regardless of the score.... which is what makes it so good. I don't see that changing because of TO's injury.

We're in agreement.

Exactly...which is why I defended you. :)
