Just saw PJ on this last tour (twice…look at me) both shows awesome.

For them to still be doing this 30 years later is unbelievable. Sadly Kurt wasn’t cut out for that.

PJ def one of the iconic bands of this era.

And Nirvana Unplugged is one of the best live albums of all time...take that to the bank bromigos.

Not even the best MTV unplugged

My Unplugged Rankings

1. Nirvana
2. AIC
3. Clapton
4. 10000 Maniacs
5. STP

All Bangers, great era for music
You forgot Pearl Jam. Listen to Black unplugged.

For PJ vs Nirvana, I'll go PJ thru the album Yield.......their stuff after just wasn't as good, imo.

Nirvana was a good PNW band. Woulda been cool to see what they could've done with more time.

rolling stone says the no 1 nirvana song is lithium pear jam is black and ok thats a solid battle but by the time you get to 7 its nirvana aneurism vs pj even flow by 10 its nirvana lounge act vs pj elderly woman behind a counter blah blah blah i mean nirvana had some big songs but after 5 or 6 you are sort of searching for songs that many non hardcore nirvana fans probably dont know all that well that is all i am saying take that to the bank brohans
Lounge Act is my favorite song from Nevermind

Despite having a smaller catalogue, Nirvana songs have been streamed twice as much as Pearl jam on Spotify.

Golly, it appears this meme band's songs have aged well for some people.

Twice as much as Pearl Jam's, even.

Oddly, they were more popular in the 90s and now. Almost like they're the better band, or something :).

Asked my daughter (16 yo) to answer the question posed in this thread. Major hesitation before answering. Deep breath. Long pause.

“I love Pearl Jam, especially Ten. Some of the later stuff is meh. But Nirvana is just special.”

We agreed that we’ll watch Nirvana Unplugged together this weekend, which is about the best thing I can imagine as a father-daughter activity. We’ll probably watch Pearl Jam Unplugged too at some point. I love it more than she does, and that’s ok. Maybe we’ll reverse the order so that the PJ one isn’t a letdown. ;)

Great topic. Enjoy all the hot takes in here. It’s ok to love both bands in different ways. I’ve been debating which one I love more since Fall 1991.
