People are waiting in line outside the Circuit City here (2 Viewers)

So did all the televisions for the year end up being gone, and are folks who didn't wait in line now stuck doing puppet shows in their living rooms?
Just when we started to think you couldn't get any worse. Board cred has to be reaching record lows.

Bump for shuke.Folks enjoying those televisions?
I'm not enjoying the extra grand it's going to take to buy the TV I could've gotten if standing in line in the cold at night was my thing.I also don't like my lunch choices today.

I'm thankful that evolution is working out better for me than it has for the people out there in line.
For most people it takes a lot longer than 2 days to make $1000, so sounds like +EV to me.
That's assuming you absolutely have to have that particular product right now. If you consider that there are probably plenty of cheaper and nice looking TVs out there -- even with this super fantastic "sleep out in the cold" discount -- that would not change your experience when watching the crappy football game tonight, I don't see the +EV.It's insanity.
It's a 46" 1080p LCD for $1299. I don't think you're getting "cheaper and nicer looking."
Magnavox 1080p 47" $1299 deliveredI guess the EV for these people is that they REALLY like Sharp instead of Magnavox, the Costco one it DELIVERED FREE. No standing in the snow at all. Plus Costco extends the warranty for a extra year. A better deal in less than a month .

Either that or they couldn't control themselves for a couple of weeks.

And I have been seeing the Olevia 47" in 1080p all over the place for $1099.

I am going to wait a little longer, I have the luxury of not needing my tv on Christmas.

There are two kinds of people, those who wait in the snow for hours for a crappy deal panicking because their kids aren't going to get the GI Joe with the kung fu grip and those that have seen trading places and wait for the panic to set in before buying their pork bellies.

I really wanted to criticize this post, but ultimately I'm anti-linestander and any reference to GI Joe with the Kung Fu Grip and pork bellies deserves a :goodposting:

You're assuming I have a desperate need to count the change in Tony Dungy's pockets. A 42 inch HDTV for less money and not a night out in the cold, or that same 46" TV in 6 months, all for the same or less money, is satisfactory.
6 months my ###, I am buying a tv and have been watching it, that same "$2200" tv is already down to $1599 and Tiger direct has had it for $1399, give it till new years.

It's pretty sad that when i was in NYC this weekend and we drove by a circuit city, I wondered if it was the one by Otis' house.

And yes i know I've bumped 2 Otis threads in the past 10 minutes

Oh, and for those advocating standing in the snow since you are dying to know. I purchased the next higher up model of 46" Sharp Aquos 1080p for the same price in February and it was shipped to me free, by circuit city.

Upside, I didn't even have to go get it and it is the next up model.

Downside I didn't get to freeze my nads off and I had to watch my old set for three months.

So after three months the price of an electronic item went down, WONDER IF THAT HAPPENS OFTEN???

 at news reports of idiots trampling store workers on their way into the stores this morning.

Black Friday indeed. Is there anything that reflects more poorly on our "civilization"?

I just don't understand the desire to shop with so much crowds. Just goes to show how openly people buy into media hype.

This has nothing to do with the media. It's a bad attribute of society, but you're blaming the wrong source.

okay, society's ability to buy into hype? I'm not saying I blame the media at all. It just seems like it's been made into the "thing to do" on the Fri after thanksgiving.

Who the hell is this creep?

Someone call the police.

I agree, there are many other deals going on that don't require spending all night out in cold. It might cost $100 more but you can get it shipped directly to your warm, comfy house.

Lots of gripes about the camera work back in aught seven, so this year we'll be sporting the ol' tripod.
