PFT reporting .... (1 Viewer)

Yeah... because San Diego is rolling in championship titles.
People in San Diego aren't die hard sports fans like they are in Cleveland. People in San Diego didn't sell out every football game for 50 years and still have their team leave for another city. People in San Diego haven't had the drive, the fumble, the shot, the catch, etc God I hate being a Cleveland sports fan.
Look on the bright side though. You get to shovel lots of snow. We here in California don't get the privilege of all that great exercise. I'm so envious.

wow. I thought the Jets were the most snake bitten team. the Browns can't catch a break..winslow looked great last season, I was looking forward to seeing him become a top-flight TE for the next decade..

PFT officially suck

(Rotoworld) NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports Kellen Winslow (microfracture knee surgery) has been off crutches for the past two weeks.

Impact: Browns trainers are reportedly convinced that he'll be back for summer workouts despite reports that Winslow might sit out the season.

Winslow: ''I'm good, very good''

Kellen Winslow got at least a little bit of his much needed, much desired time away.

But being back on the rehab trail hasn't drained Winslow's energy or enthusiasm. And not only is Winslow still focused on returning to health, he thinks new Browns' offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski can help him top his record-setting 2006 season when he does.

"I'm good, very good," Winslow said Monday evening, speaking from his Cleveland-area home. "I got some real good news when Coach Chud came back here, and he's going to be real good for the offense. He's going to get everybody on the same page.

"That is a blessing. And I'm excited to get healthy and get to work."

There's probably not much comfortable about some of the rehab exercises Winslow has been doing since undergoing surgery on his right knee January 30. But he does have a comfort level inside Browns Headquarters with the medical staff he's been working with after coming back last offseason from a severe knee injury suffered in a May 1, 2005 motorcycle accident.

He has a similar comfort level with Chudzinski, who was Winslow's offensive coordinator and tight ends coach for the three years Winslow spent at the University of Miami and the Browns' tight ends coach in 2004, Winslow's rookie season.

"I definitely have a feel for him, for what kind of coach he is and what he wants to do," Winslow said. "But he's going to bring some new stuff in. It's going to be good.

"I think he's going to want me lining up in a lot of places -- I like that."

Winslow caught a franchise record 89 passes last season while battling through a sore knee and decided on surgery after the season, about 18 months after his initial surgery following the accident.

He said Monday he's been off crutches for nearly two weeks and has been following his rehab program closely.

"I really just started with concentrating on the little things," he said. "I'm following the program that our medical staff laid out for me before we decided to have the surgery. I first need to get the strength back in my leg, then progress from there. It's a step by step process, and my next step is running.

"But I am feeling great. As far as my rehab goes, I am ahead of schedule. I'll be back by training camp, if not before."

Winslow said he's spent most of his time and energy rehabbing and relaxing with his teammates. He said his new Xbox 360 video game system has made him "a hockey guy -- I play with Calgary and Dallas, and I kick everybody's butt."

But Winslow plans to be a full-time football guy again soon. He said he was as surprised as anyone to hear of an Internet report that made its rounds Monday saying Winslow would miss the 2007 season.

"I don't even know where that came from - I don't know who said that," he said. "But I love to prove people wrong. That's fuel for me.

"I'll be back. People continue to count me out, and that lights my fire."

What else is he going to say? Here is what D. Williams(Davis) said in Jan.

January 1, 2007, 19:16

Texans :: RB

RB Domanick Davis Now Domanick Williams

Associated Press, ESPN - [Full Article]

RB Domanick Davis appeared in Houston's locker room Monday with a new haircut, a new attitude and most surprisingly a new name in Domanick Williams; his mom’s maiden name. "I'm a new man," he said. "I had to do it and it was time. I didn't want my kids to grow up carrying something else that I'm really not," said Williams who says he is feeling great and can’t wait to get back on the field. "I felt like it was the perfect time for me to do it. Come back fresh, come back new."

And two months later this news

March 5, 2007, 18:25

Texans :: RB

Texans RB D. Williams To Undergo More Surgery

Jim Carley, HoustonTexans.com - [Full Article]

The Texans won’t be getting starting RB Domanick Williams back any time soon. Davis missed all of last year with a knee injury and GM Rick Smith said Monday that Davis’ knee has been swelling during rehab and he will soon undergo another surgery on it.

I am not saying KW2 is out for 2007. I just don't think it matters what a player says about how he is feeling a month after Major surgery (Micro-fracture)

At least it sounds like he is following the trainers rehab program... that should be a good sign.

I'm just gonna go ahead and trust his word a helluva lot more than PFFFFT
Sure. My feeling about KW2 really has nothing to do with the PFT and everything to do with the type of surgery he had.Micro-fracture is Major surgery that is hard to come back from. KW2 is young so I think his chances are as good as anyone. He is better than 90% of the TE's in the NFL playing on one good leg!

Don't discount advances in the medical field, that type of surgery is becoming more and more recoverable from what I understand. I do own him in my most important league, so that might blur my vision a little bit but a case of beer says he'll play and do well next year.

Of course he's following the trainers rehab program. What else would he be doing? DDavis (DWilliams) was probably following his trainers program too. One would have to think that Browns could look at this and say to themselves, "he's young, let's shut him down for a year and make sure he's healthy rather than let the kid go out there too early and risk never coming back...."

I wouldn't believe that. Like you said earlier he is playing for incentives and is going to want to play.

Actually, wasn't there talk that the team was upset that DD/DW wasn't working with the team trainers???And. are you trying to get someone in your league to trade KW@ to you cheaply? :banned:

Good read Switz. I'd say yes he is and that someone is me. Not buying it though. Discounted maybe but not cheap

I feel the same way on this situation as I feel about the Kevin Jones reports: We'll see when we see, and not before then. It's utterly impossible at this point to say which one of KWII or PFT's sources are right. Both have a degree of implicit speculation. They could in fact both be right (i.e. KWII is ahead of schedule and feels great, but there remains a chance he could be shut down for 2007 based on the unpredictable procedure results). Deal with the uncertainty accordingly.

I can't take credit for it, but as someone pointed out to me...Cleveland hasn't brought anyone (TE wise) in for workouts or anything else. If they had these major worries that he wasn't going to be around all year, don't you think they would have something more than Heiden on their roster by now?

Hmm...

Reports out of Detroit about KJ, then they get Tatum Bell and TJ Duckett. Reports out of Cleveland? Nada...

There is a difference between "there is chance he might not play" and being "out for 2007 season". It is all speculative at this point.
What isn't speculative is the fact his knee is shot. This guy is a train motorcycle wreck.
fixed
So did Winslow further injure the knee last year? Or is this residual from the prior injury? If the knee wasn't sound going into last year why did they allow him to play? I'm a little confused.

Jermaine Wiggins is a FA still, and he's not a bad signing for a stop-gap receiving TE if Winslow can't go. This is a team with so many problems that that's hard for me just to accept at face value.

Wiggins just signed with Jax. Seems like Clevland is not pursuing anybody at te. Hopefully this is a good sign for Winslow owners. On the topic of Wiggins, does this drop Marcedes value?

Wiggins' signing is probably more a matter of concern over Wrighster's shoulder. At 32 and seeing his play last year, it's clear Wiggins has slowed way down and doesn't really affect Marcedes Lewis much if at all.As far as TE possibilities for CLE are concerned if they want to go shopping, Jerramy Stevens is still out there, as is Erron Kinney. Stevens has plenty of baggage and I'm not sure about Kinney's health going into 2007, but at least they are guys with starting experience should the Brownies decide they need to beef up the position.

My opinion...

If Winslow is out for a while, the Browns would likely use Heiden and not really think twice about it. If they sign anyone, it would be more like a #3 TE. They are not going to waste their time and money on a guy like Stevens.

Kinney also had microfracture surgery. His career could be over. It was his 3rd knee surgery, and he's not a young man anymore.
