Pick a Pair/Half Decade Album Draft - Bonus Rounds Thu & Fri - Pick three if you want (4 Viewers)

It's probably not worth making a list when I'm 25 picks away so I'll watch the VMAs until they make me sad
I just started my DVR'd EPL.  Watched Man U, now I'm on Southampton-West Ham.  Took benadryl so I may be out soon.

Any room to jump in and stash at the end before rcam picks? No worries if the cupboard is full.

OK - will just make one now in case someone jumps in behind me.

1.xx Beach Boys

Pet Sounds (1966)
Surf's Up (1971)
Great pick here. The Beach Boys were on my short list using Pet Sounds.  I couldn't decide on the second record, that's why I wasn't looking at them here now.  Surf's up was my 1b.  My 1a is still there.  Maybe later.

Can't use the soundtrack from Cocktail, I'm pretty sure.

Surf's Up (1971)
Very odd album, imo. Can't say I really like it.

To me this was the issue for this draft - the Beach Boys have a lot of great songs, but really only have one great album.

ETA: obviously this is a subjective opinion. If you like Surf's Up that's a great pairing.

It's definitely uneven, but I like it quite a bit. The title track and "Feel Flows" alone to me is worth it.

Yeah - I had looked at a number of combinations and there wasn't a great partner, but Pet Sounds alone is worth the pick imo. One of the all-time great albums.

Sorry - I'm here. I thought we weren't starting until today. You can skip me until I make a pick.

I'm going to have a lot of  moments here where I realize I've completely forgotten about stuff for this...like Pet Sounds and the Beach Boys.

I am regretting not grabbing Let it Be with my pick, but I was sure the Clash wasn't coming back to me.  Now I'm second guessing myself, lol.

You just made me possibly change my next pick to one I forgot, lol.  I have two great choices lined up.  If both fall back to me, it's coin flip time.

Whoa did I ever spotlight. Suffice it to say, you're...

WRONG!

And in a bad mood about the Jets's offensive line, one presumes. :)

I kid about all of it. But there are least two great Beach Boys albums you might be forgetting.

Last month Capitol released the Feel Flows box set, 6 1/2 hours of Beach Boys sessions from 69-71 that eventually became the Sunflower and Surf's Up LPs.

The 133 tracks include outtakes, live tracks, alternate versions, etc.  It's more Beach Boys than any reasonable person needs but it's fun to shuffle through.

This is tough, I have 4 different picks I want to make here and I doubt too many will make it back to me, so I’ll go with one of my all time favorites (I’d be most sad to miss out on this one).

Round 2, Pick 1.5, Yo Mama selects:

Beastie Boys

Paul’s Boutique - 1989

Ill Communication - 1994

Paul’s was the easy one, had a hard time picking between my 2a and 2b favorite B Boys album.

This keeps alive the potential shtick of taking only albums from the 1985-89 and 1990-1994 half decades (my wheelhouse). Doubt I do it though.
