Pick a Pair/Half Decade Album Draft - Bonus Rounds Thu & Fri - Pick three if you want (3 Viewers)

Did you have to go there, GB? :sadbanana: This is a nice diversion from that hot mess.
I was kidding with Dr. Octopus though the tone might not have come through. I just woke up West Coast time with drool still stinging my face, so there's that.

What a mess yesterday! Wilson looked great in the fourth. There are very positive things to take away from it, really.

I added a winky face to the post so he knows I'm kidding.

This is tough, I have 4 different picks I want to make here and I doubt too many will make it back to me, so I’ll go with one of my all time favorites (I’d be most sad to miss out on this one).

Round 2, Pick 1.5, Yo Mama selects:

Beastie Boys

Paul’s Boutique - 1989

Ill Communication - 1994

Paul’s was the easy one, had a hard time picking between my 2a and 2b favorite B Boys album.

This keeps alive the potential shtick of taking only albums from the 1985-89 and 1990-1994 half decades (my wheelhouse). Doubt I do it though.
Damn, I was thinking about that for RD2.   You are back to your sniping ways as far as my lists go.

1 - 16.5 - Talking Heads - Remain in Light (1980) / Little Creatures (1985)

You may find yourself in a beautiful stadium.  With a beautiful day.  And as the Steelers block a punt for a touchdown, you may ask yourself.....how did we get here?

In the end, the Bills performance was truly the same as it ever was.

"Once in a Lifetime"

"Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)"

"Road to Nowhere"

"And She Was"
This was the other in contention for me in Rd1.  I was thinking a late 70s one with RIL.

I hated dropping Luis Arraez with that OBP, but I can't have a five homer two steal a year guy out there fwiw.

Crazy work day - seriously. Skip me if I'm not putting up a pick immediately. I don't want to hold things up. I'll add links in a bit but

Round 1:

INXS - Kick 85-89

INXS - Shabooh Shoobah 80-84

Round 2:

Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes 80-84

Violent Femmes - Why do Birds Sing 90-94

Oh wow. Great pick. I am crushed on that INXS.  I was gonna take Kick-X in the third.  Dammit.

Remind me again of the music draft rules: are live albums allowed?  Compilations/Greatest hits/Best Of, etc.,  are out?

Eephus has longstanding rules about those. I DO NOT understand them. Never have. I think live albums in service of an album are okay, compilations and live albums that act as compilations are not okay.

That's how I play it. I'm sure I'm wrong, so I'll let him clarify.

A pair that's tailor-made for this theme and takes them out of the draft pool:

2.01 Joy Division

Unknown Pleasures (1979)

Closer (1980)
ugh. this was my other 1st round choice. stoopit zeppelin.

  considering it this round too.

I'm not a huge fan of that particular 80s album, so yeah...70s would've been my choice too.

Radiohead -The Bends

High and Dry

Fake Plastic Trees

Hate to be predictable, but those are my favorites on that record.

Radiohead - Kid A

The National Anthem

Optimistic

I wanted two other combos more, but no way this makes it back, lol.

Damn this message board!  Had everything hyperlinked, and it froze again.  Grr. 😡

Yes - maybe I am (forgetting).
You're not forgetting, really. For casual fans, they go under the radar until you realize where all their more serious hits come from. One is in the Rolling Stone top two hundred or so albums of all time, I think the other cracks the 500, too. They're seriously good, and get audiophile treatment from companies (which includes great expense to remaster analog and mono from the original tapes and sell for pretty pennies on the secondhand market...)
